Oxford, Maine - Joey
Doiron of Berwick outran DJ
Shaw of Center Conway, New
Hampshire to the checkered
flag to win the Ripley &
Fletcher Ford PASS 150 for
Super Late Models Saturday
at Oxford Plains Speedway.
For Doiron it was his
second victory of the season
on the series. While Shaw
came up a bit short in the
race, his runner-up finish
was enough to wrap up his
first Pro All Stars Series
Super Late Model
championship.

Late-race cautions gave
Doiron the opportunity to
battle for the victory with
Standish veteran David
Oliver, who dominated much
of the event prior to the
final restart with just a
handful of laps remaining.
Oliver settled for a
third-place finish,
completing a sweep of the
podium finishes for Dale
Shaw Race Cars drivers.
Johnny Clark of
Farmingdale, the most
prolific champion in Pro All
Stars Series history,
entered the event with hopes
of overtaking Shaw in the
championship standings, but
came up a bit short with a
fourth-place finish. Glen
Luce of Turner ended up
fifth both in the race and
the 2014 championship
standings.
Scott
Mulkern of Falmouth, Scott
McDaniel of Livermore, early
race leader Austin Theriault
of Fort Kent, Oxford Plains
Speedway legend Mike Rowe of
Turner and two-time Oxford
250 champion Travis
Benjaminof Morill rounded
out the top ten.
Mitch Miller of West
Boylston, Massachusetts
claimed his second victory
of the season in the 40-lap
PASS Modified main event.
Former champion Mark Lucas
of Harpswell was the best of
the rest, with Lovell's Evan
Armington nailing down a
third-place finish. Andy
Shaw of Center Conway, New
Hampshire, another former
champion, ended up with a
fourth-place finish and
claimed the series
championship in the PASS
Modified class.
Brad
Babb of Windham got by Corey
Mason of Stark, New
Hampshire late in the 50-lap
race for PASS Northeast Late
Models and claimed not only
the race win, but the
three-race series
championship as well. Mike
Kenison of Lancaster, New
Hampshire made a late charge
pay off with a second-place
finish, just in front of
series runner-up Ryan Morgan
of Mystic, Connecticut. Ryan
Deane of Winterport and Mark
Lundblad, Jr. of Conway, New
Hampshire completed the top
five.
Multi-time PASS
Sportsman Champion Dan
McKeage of Gorham closed out
the 2014 season in victory
lane, but his 40-lap score
was not enough to overtake
his hometown rival, Joe
Pastore, Jr., atop the
series final rankings.
Portland's Scott Dorr
prevailed in an
entertaining, spirited
battle for runner-up honors
with Scarborough's Frank
Wear. Pastore wrapped up his
title with a fourth-place
finish. The winner's father,
Lyman McKeage of Gorham,
rounded out the top five.
Bobby Weymouth of
Topsham got to the front of
the pack early and drove to
victory in the 25-lap
headliner for the visiting
NELCAR Legends cars tour.
Trevor Sanborn of
Parsonsfield, who destroyed
his Super Late Model in a
morning practice session,
nailed down second-place
honors in front of Lincoln's
Alan Smith. Mathew Burgoine
of Newport stayed atop the
championship standings with
a fourth-place finish. Tyler
Braunschweig of West
Newfields rounded out the
top five.
Once Leeds
racer Kyle Hewins got by
early race leader Lewis
Anderson of Buxton it was
all over in the 40-lap
Street Stock main event.
Hewins dominated the
remainder of the event,
winning by over a half-lap
over Waterford's Richie
Morse, making his first
appearance of the season. BJ
Chapman of Bridgton crossed
the finish line in third
position, followed by
Auburn's Mike Short and
Corey Morgan of Lewiston.
Justin Trombley of
Winter Harbor patiently
worked his way through
traffic, took the lead from
Turner's Calvin Rose, Jr.,
and cruised to victory lane
following the 30-lap Mini
Stock feature event. Rose
held on to second-place for
the balance of the race,
with Rob Greenleaf of West
Bath claiming third-place
spoils. Nik Coates of Lisbon
abd Green's George Fortin
rounded out the top five. |

Southern
Maine Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep 300 |
The 2014 PASS 400 Weekend at
Beech Ridge Motor Speedway brought
to you by Southern Maine Chrysler,
Dodge, Jeep has come to an end after
what was a very exciting three days
of racing.
On Sunday the
Super Late Model last chance race
was the first event of the day as
the driver that had not already
qualified for the 300 lap main event
had one more shot to get in the big
show. Lonnie Sommerville won the
last chance race as he battled
Bradley Babb throughout most of the
race.
Next on track was the
PASS Sportsman for their 100 lap
main event which was full of action
from the green flag to the checkered
flag. Point leader Joe Pastore would
end up taking the victory after a
race that was full of ups and down
for Pastore as he battled his way
from the back of the field to the
front several times. Brad Hammond
finished second in the race after
leading several laps of the race a
late race incident caused him to
have to fight his way back from the
back of the pack. Nate Leavitt also
had a good run as he battled with
the leaders for the majority of the
race and ended up finishing with a
solid third.

Thunder
Valley National 200
at
Autodrome Chaudiere |
The
VR Victoriaville #36 of Alex
Labbe was disqualified from
his heat race in post-race
tech due to a ride height
infraction. This would place
him in the 24th starting
position for the feature
event where he would
eventually work his way to
the front and emerge
victorious. By the 1/2-way
point in the race, Labbe had
moved into the 2nd position
where he would battle for
the win with the runner up,
Joey Doiron in the Wild
Willy's Burger #73. Patrick
Laperle of St.-Denis Quebec
earned the final podium
finish with his Lasalle Ford
#91.
Center Conway's
DJ Shaw and Tyler Dippel
from Walkill, NY rounded out
the top-five in the
finishing order. Turner,
Maine natives Mike Rowe and
Ben Rowe were sixth and
seventh across the finish
line. Chicoutimi, Quebec's
Michael Lavoie ended up in
the eighth position, with
Curtis Gerry of Waterboro
ninth across the finish
line, and Bangor's Gary
Smith rounding out the
top-ten.

in
Hight 150 at Speedway 95 |
Hermon, Maine --
Cassius Clark of Farmington
survived a rough-and-tumble
finish to wrestle victory
away from DJ Shaw in
Sunday's Hight Chevrolet 150
Pro All Stars Series Super
Late Model race at Speedway
95 in Hermon, Maine.
Clark and Shaw, rubbing
doors and fenders while
trading paint in the closing
laps, suffered mostly minor
cosmetic damage until after
the checkered flag, when
contact from behind left the
winner with a wrecked #77
Hight Chevrolet that never
made a victory lane
appearance with its
triumphant driver.
Clark, looking as unhappy as
any winner could in victory
lane, expressed his
displeasure at Shaw's drive,
even predicting "I don't
know who will be getting the
big trophy in November, but
I know it won't be (Shaw)."

Evan Armington of Lovell
took the lead from New Gloucester's
Ron Henry, then held off a late
challenge by Newburgh's Scott
Alexander to score victory in a
special, 40-lap feature race for the
visiting Pro All Stars Series Mods.
"This is one of those nights
where everything went right," the
young, third-generation racer said
in victory lane. Armington also
thanked a kid who gave him a lucky
rabbit's foot-shaped cookie he took
along for the ride.
Alexander, a serious contender for
the PASS Mods championship, closed
quickly once in second position, but
could not catch Armington. Andy Shaw
of Center Conway, New Hampshire was
third across the line, with the
top-five rounded out by Mark Lucas
of Harpswell and Livermore's Scott
McDaniel. Armington and Ryan Robbins
of Dixfield scored heat race

TWO IN A
ROW FOR TRAVIS BENJAMIN
EDGES
AUSTIN THERIAULT FOR OXFORD 250 WIN |
The
41st running of the Oxford 250 was a crowd pleaser as sixty
of the best Super Late Model teams in the country converged
on the small town of Oxford, Maine to participate in the
historic event. The fans were treated to over seven hundred
laps of racing, with several teams collecting checkered
flags, but none as happy and as excited as Travis Benjamin,
whom collected his second straight $25,000 payday, plus lap
money.
Forty-four Super Late Models lined up on the
grid with Concord, N.C. speedster, Preston Peltier and
Turner, Maine's, Shawn Martin filling the front row when the
green flag flew. Peltier jumped to lead and held the point
for the first 21 laps with the exception of lap six when
Kelley Moore edged him out at the stripe. Joey Doiron raced
by Peltier on lap 21 and held the point for the next 66 laps
with Austin Theriault, Shawn Martin, Scott Mulkern and Moore
in tow. Theriault held the lead through four restarts before
he and Travis Benjamin pitted for tires and fuel on lap 185,
setting the stage for a storybook ending. Cassius Clark took
over the lead from Theriault as pit stops completely changed
the lineup around. DJ Shaw, Richie Dearborn, Scott Moore and
Johnny Clark were all now in the top five and ready to
challenge for the lead. Clark held the lead all the way
until lap 220 when Richie Dearborn edged him to the stripe
when the final caution waved.

DOIRON SCORES POPULAR
VICTORY IN
SOUTHERN MAINE MOTORS 150 AT
BEECH RIDGE |
Joey Doiron has not
been setting the world on
fire in the 2014 PASS North
Super Late Model Series, but
his luck may have just
peaked at the right time as
he picked up a big win in
the Southern Maine Motors
Firecracker 150 at Beech
Ridge Motor Speedway in
Scarborough, Maine this past
Saturday night. Doiron's
victory comes just two weeks
before the biggest Super
Late Model event in the
Northeast, that being the
41st Annual Oxford 250 on
July 20th.
Joey
Polewarzyk started on the
point for the main event,
and set a blistering early
pace as he was starting to
lap cars 30 laps into the
race. Glen Luce held onto
second, while Austin
Theriault, Doiron and Scott
Mulkern settled in for a
long run of green flag laps.
The first caution waved on
lap 56 for a minor spin in
turn three. The restart saw
Mulkern get the jump with
Doiron glued to his back
bumper. On lap 90 Mulkern
slipped up in turn three
allowing Doiron to slip
underneath for the lead.
Mulkern recovered in time to
hold off a fast charging
Mike Rowe, and Theriault.

Canadian speedster,
Alex Labbe scored an
impressive victory this past
Saturday night at Autodrome

Quebec, as he held off a
race long challenge from
Cassius Clark to secure the
win.
One of the
biggest stories of the night
was just as DJ Shaw pulled
onto the starting grid for
the main event, something
broke on the potent #60 and
the oil pump seized up.
Fortunately they made a
quick deal with Michael
Lavoie and he was able to
start the race from the back
of the field.

WIN |
Hudson International
Speedway in Hudson, New Hampshire
hosted the PASS Modified Tour for
the first time, and race fans were
treated to a very exciting race
which featured some tight racing,
and a wild flip on the backstretch.
Ryan Robbins and Evan Armington
brought the field to green for the
forty lap main event, and the pair
raced side by side until the race
came to an abrupt halt on lap number
five as Ryan Phillips and Mark Lucas
got together on the backstretch
sending Phillips up and over two
times coming to rest on his wheels.
After a couple anxious moments,
Phillips emerged from his badly
damaged racer and was diagnosed with
bumps and bruises and was released
from medical attention. Lucas also
would be done for the night.

Southern Stars Prep For
Return
To
41st Annual Oxford 250 |
NAPLES, ME (June 10)
 With a little less than
two months before on track
activities begin for the
41st Annual Oxford 250,
short track racers from
across North America are
currently making
preparations for one of the
biggest events of the year.
Over 70 Pro All Stars Series
(PASS) Super Late Model
teams are expected this year
to attempt to make the
biggest single day event in
motorsports. And, with
$25,000 going to the race
winner, plus an additional
$25,000 up for grabs in lap
leader bonus money, racers
will travel quite a distance
to try and etch their names
in the prestigious Oxford
250 record book.
When
the Oxford 250 first began
in 1974, it was commonplace
to see legendary Southern
racers like Butch Lindley,
Jack Ingram, Tommy Houston,
Harry Gant, Tiny Lund, and
others make the trek to New
England from the Carolinas.
That tradition returned in
2013 when PASS South
competitors such as Jay and
Tate Fogleman, Daniel
Hemric, Kevin Powell, and
Spencer Davis traveled North
to compete in their first
Oxford 250. While Hemric
made an impressive run from
the back to finish in the
top 10, it was Jay Fogleman
who parlayed a third place
finish in the Oxford 250 to
his second straight PASS
National Championship.
"I always look forward
to going to the 250," said
Fogleman. "It reminds me in
a lot of ways of the way
things were in the South
during the 80s. The fans of
the 250, those that come
down from Canada, they love
racing and it's an
atmosphere that I really
enjoy. The fans up there
love short track racing,
they appreciate good racing,
and they always turn out for
the 250."
Another
former PASS National
Champion who will be making
his first trip to the Oxford
250 in 2014 will be Preston
Peltier. Peltier, who grew
up in California and then
moved to North Carolina when
he began working for
Hendrick Motorsports, has
been one of the stalwarts of
PASS South since the series
first began back in 2006.
With 10 career PASS South
Super Late Model wins to his
credit, the series all-time
wins leader is looking
forward to his first
experience at Oxford Plains.
"It's a place we've
never been before and we're
really looking forward to
it," said Peltier. "We've
been able to race at a few
other tracks in New England
similar to Oxford, so
hopefully that will help.
We're just hoping for some
good luck."
For his
first trip to the Oxford
250, Peltier will be paired
with legendary car builder
Robert Hamke. The duo is
going for broke bringing a
brand new motor, chassis,
and body combination in the
hopes of taking home a win.
Peltier believes driving the
new Hamke Dodge Challenger
#74 will provide him the
best opportunity to go to
victory lane.
"Most
of these tracks that lack
grip, you don't need the
horsepower, so that came
into play for us going with
the new motor and the
Challenger body," said
Peltier. "The body looks
really cool so we thought we
would give it a shot and see
what we could do with it."
Peltier and Fogleman
will not be alone in making
the trip up from the South
to the Oxford 250. Tate
Fogleman will again join his
dad as he looks to build on
his 25th place finish from a
year ago. Three-time PASS
South winner in 2014, Daniel
Hemric, will once again join
the Woodman Racing team that
he drove for last year to a
top 10 finish. Derek
Kneeland hails from New
England, but lives in North
Carolina and serves as a
spotter for Kyle Larson with
Chip Ganassi Racing.
Kneeland had a strong 15th
place finish in 2013 and
will team with Gary Crooks
Racing as he looks to build
on that performance. PASS
National Championship points
leader Tyler Dippel will be
making his Oxford 250 debut
this year. The dirt modified
racer from New York has
adapted well to asphalt and
currently sits fourth in the
PASS South Super Late Model
standings.
The PASS
Super Late Models will not
be alone in making the 41st
Annual Oxford 250 a
celebration of short track
racing. A great slate of
divisions is set to race
starting on Friday, July 18
with the PASS Sportsman,
PASS Modifieds, Outlaw
Sportsman, Street Stocks,
Rebels, Sport Trucks,
Cruisers and Ladies, plus
practice for the PASS Super
Late Models.
On
Saturday, July 19 with the
PASS Super Late Models will
get three rounds of practice
followed by racing in the
evening for the PASS
Northeast Late Models, NEMA
Midgets, NEMA Lites, Outlaw
Sportsman, Street Stocks,
Wicked Good Racers, and
Classic Lights.
On
Sunday, July 20, pit gates
will open bright and early
at 7 AM with a full day of
on track activities
including practice and heat
race action for the PASS
Super Late Models, followed
by features for the PASS
Modifieds, Outlaw Series,
Street Stocks, Legends, and
the 41st Annual Oxford 250.
Entries are continuing
to come into the Pro All
Stars Series offices and
will be updated periodically
leading up to the race. |

JOHNNY CLARK
BACK ON TRACK
AFTER SPEEDWAY
660 VICTORY |
Johnny Clark has
been battling for a win all
season long on the PASS
North Series, as he has had
numerous top three finishes,
as well as being in
contention for the win every
time out, but the checkered
flag had eluded him until
this past Saturday night as
he edged out DJ Shaw and
Joey Doiron to carry the
checkered flag at Speedway
660 in Fredericton, NB,
Canada. Shaw, who was trying
to be the first PASS North
driver to ever win four
races in a row, fell short
to Clark’s monumental
victory. Ironically, it was
Speedway 660 where Johnny
Clark scored his last win in
2012.
Numerous early
cautions kept the 150 lap
event from gaining any
rhythm, as Eric St. Gelais
and Matt Matheson brought
out a pair of early cautions
for minor spins. Lap 10 saw
Martin Latullipe leading the
way, and was solidly out
front until Matheson got up
high on the backstretch, and
flew into the bank just
beyond the track exit,
flipping his racecar onto
its roof. Once they righted
the car, Matheson got out on
his own power, but was taken
to the hospital for
observation.

the start/finish line as
Ryan Robbins nipped Doug

Rusty

NORTH EVENT AT WMMP |
Red hot DJ Shaw
picked up his third
consecutive PASS North win
this past Saturday night in
the Littleton Chevrolet 150
at White Mountain
Motorsports Park in North
Woodstock, New Hampshire.
Glen Luce and Joey
Polewarcyzk brought the
twenty-four car field to the
green flag, and the race was
on. Luce jumped to the point
and held the lead til lap 76
when Joey Pole tangled with
a lapped car bringing out
the first caution of the
night.
On the
ensuing restart, Luce and
Richie Dearborn made up the
front row with Jeremy Davis,
DJ Shaw and Travis Stearns
rounding out the top five.
At the drop of the green,
the front row got together
sending Dearborn #33 hard
into the front stretch wall
and Luce spinning in turn
one. Dearborn was unhurt but
his car was finished for the
night.

Once again a PASS Super Late

the PASS North Tour danced
around Sunday between
sprinkles and put on a
tremendous show with a solid

PASS Super Late Models for
the Frameco 150.
It
was an all Canadian front
row as Patrick Laperle and
Donald Theetge brought the
field to green. The caution
waved early, as on lap four,
Ben Rowe’s bad luck
continued as he cut down a
tire putting him several
laps off the pace. After a

continued until lap 50 when
Johnny Clark, Mike Rowe and

Bunny 150 at Hickory
Speedway on Easter Sunday.
Derek Ranstrom and
Johnny Clark brought the
field to green with Ranstrom
controlling the lead until
the first caution flew for a
Tyler Fiscus spin in turn
two. On the ensuing restart
Johnny Clark got the jump,
with Wayne Helliwell Jr. in
hot pursuit. Clark led the
way until caution flew again
as Scott Dragon and Curtis
Gerry tangled in turn four.
Clark got the jump again and
opened up a three car length
advantage when Helliwell
suddenly fell off the pace
and pitted for the remainder
of the event. This allowed
DJ Shaw to pull into second,
Ranstrom was third followed
by Cassius Clark and Joey
Doiron.

MIKE ROWE SCORES
POPULAR
PASS NORTH WIN
AT
BEECH RIDGE MOTOR
SPEEDWAY |
Turner, Maine’s Mike
Rowe took over the lead on a
lap 101 restart and cruised
home to victory in the
Southern Maine Chrysler,
Dodge, Jeep 150 at Beech
Ridge Motor Speedway in
Scarborough, Maine this past
Saturday afternoon. The
legendary veteran edged out
Travis Benjamin and Austin
Theriault for the win.
Threatening weather
forced the PASS North Super
Late Models to move their
feature up in the schedule
as ominous skies were
looming over the horizon.
Scott Mulkern got the jump
on the start as the young
gun, Reid Lanpher spun his
tires on the initial start
allowing Mulkern, Austin
Theriault and Ben Rowe to
race by him on lap one. An
early caution for a slowing
car in turn two forced a
restart once again. Mulkern
was a rocket as he jumped to
the front and never looked
back as several drivers were
contending for the top five
positions including
Theriault, Cassius Clark,
Mike Rowe, and Tony Ricci.
The field stayed in that
order until lap 75 when Rowe
slipped by Clark for the
third spot and winner of the
PASS opener, Travis Benjamin
cracked the top five.

DJ SHAW - TRAVIS
BENJAMIN - RICHIE DEARBORN |
TRAVIS BENJAMIN WINS
DELAYED
PASS NORTH OPENER |
It may have taken Travis
Benjamin an extra day, but the wait was worth it as he
scored a popular win in the season opening Ripley and
Fletcher Ford PASS 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford,
Maine on Sunday afternoon. The race was actually scheduled
to take place on Saturday, but due to steady rains the event
was postponed until Sunday. The race was even in doubt for
Sunday, as the showers persisted until late morning. After a
lengthy track drying process, qualifying began around 1:15,
and you could tell that the thirty-five PASS Super Late
Models in attendance were anxious and ready. DJ Shaw, Joey
Doiron and Trevor Sanborn claimed wins in the highly
competitive qualifying rounds.
Shaw,
fresh off his win in the Easter
Bunny 150 at Hickory, bolted to the
lead and held the point til lap 7
when Trevor Sanborn grabbed the
lead. Scott Mulkern raced to the
lead on lap 11 and held it until
Trevor Sanborn raced by. Sanborn’s
lead was short lived as Richie
Dearborn took the top spot on lap 65
and was on cruise control through
lap 130. At that point, Dearborn,
Benjamin and Shaw picked up the pace
dramatically and pulled away from
the rest of the field.

EMMA
LIBBY READY TO
EMBARK ON PASS
SPORTSMAN CAREER |
|
|
When you
first look at this
petite, sweet,
innocent, sixteen
year old blonde
named Emma Libby,
you say to yourself,
there is a very
athletic young lady
that is quite shy,
and reserved.
WHOAAAA! This young
lady is a racer true
and true, and one to
be reckoned with,
backing off from
nobody.
Libby
who is a sophomore
at Orono High School
is working
feverishly with her
family as they
prepare to take on
the challenging PASS
Sportsman class in
2014. Emma has
already had a
successful career at
Speedway 95 as she
was the 2012
champion in their
highly competitive
Mini-Stock division,
and graduated to
their Street Stock
class in 2013 and
placed a respectable
5th in the final
point standings. For
2014 her plan is to
run the full PASS
Sportsman schedule,
as well as compete
in the Speedway 95
Sportsman class when
time allows.
Libby works daily in
the family business
after school, and
also is learning the
racing parts
business that the
family has recently
added. This works
out well as she gets
a better
understanding about
the parts in a
racecar, and also
how they work. She
spends every
possible minute
working race related
deals, and when the
store closes down,
its garage time
with her dad, Ed
Libby. Their
immaculate PASS
Sportsman car was
built by her and her
dad, and she has
loved and
appreciated every
minute in the garage
with her father. She
is definitely dads
little princess.
Emma has set
some solid goals for
herself and the team
in 2014. She wants
to be competitive
every time she hits
the track, and she
is hoping for some
top five, and top
three finishes, and
who knows, maybe
even a win. Her long
term goals include
graduating up to a
PASS Super Late
Model, and then
maybe some PASS
South racing, and
maybe advance to a
bigger world. All in
all Emma Libby is
looking forward to
making a big splash
in her PASS
Sportsman, and she
very well may
achieve some, if not
most of her goals in
2014. Emma is her
name, and racing is
her game!
The
PASS NORTH Tour
kicks open their
doors at
Oxford Plains
Speedway on

Scott Alexander proudly
carried the PASS Mod

twelve race starts. Rounding
out the PASS Mod top five
were Travis Buzzell, Mitch
Miller, Scott McDaniel and
Mike Carignan.
Farmington, Maine's, Cassius
Clark edged out Joey Doiron
and DJ Shaw for the 2013
Pass North Super Late Model

five. Clark also had a very
solid championship season as
he collected a pair of wins,
nine top fives, and eleven
top ten's in twelve starts.
