DEREK RAMSTROM WINS the
Southern
Maine Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep 300 |
The 2014 PASS 400 Weekend at
Beech Ridge Motor Speedway brought
to you by Southern Maine Chrysler,
Dodge, Jeep has come to an end after
what was a very exciting three days
of racing.
On Sunday the
Super Late Model last chance race
was the first event of the day as
the driver that had not already
qualified for the 300 lap main event
had one more shot to get in the big
show. Lonnie Sommerville won the
last chance race as he battled
Bradley Babb throughout most of the
race.
Next on track was the
PASS Sportsman for their 100 lap
main event which was full of action
from the green flag to the checkered
flag. Point leader Joe Pastore would
end up taking the victory after a
race that was full of ups and down
for Pastore as he battled his way
from the back of the field to the
front several times. Brad Hammond
finished second in the race after
leading several laps of the race a
late race incident caused him to
have to fight his way back from the
back of the pack. Nate Leavitt also
had a good run as he battled with
the leaders for the majority of the
race and ended up finishing with a
solid third.
After the PASS
Sportsman race the PASS Modifieds
rolled onto the speedway for their
second 40 lap main event of the
weekend. Point leader Scott
Alexander won the race with Mitch
Miller in second. Jimmy Emerson had
a strong run in the PASS Modified
race finishing third after leading a
substantial portion of the 40 lap
race.
For the Super Late
Models feature Tyler Dippel from New
York starting on the pole. Derek
Ramstrom started on the outside of
row one after also claiming a heat
race victory on Saturday. Ramstrom
broke out to a strong lead at the
start of the race but he was soon
challenged by the #60 car of DJ Shaw
after Shaw navigated his way through
the the field from last place. Shaw
was able to take the lead away from
Ramstrom on lap 75 after they battle
side by side for several laps.
Throughout the rest of the race
Ramstrom and Shaw battled each other
regularly for position. Ben Rowe
also looked to be a strong contender
mid race as he took over the helm
for several laps.
As the
race came to an end the top three
cars of Derek Ramstrom, DJ Shaw, and
Austin Theariualt were nose-to-tail
and side-by-side as they battled for
the lead. DJ Shaw and Derek Ramstrom
swapped the lead several times in
the last 50 laps of the event with
Theariault always on their heels.
In the end the driver from
West Boylston, Massachusetts Derek
Ramstrom was able to join the list
of names that have won the
prestigious 300 lap PASS Super Late
Model race. DJ Shaw finished a close
second and Austin Theariault
finished third after making several
runs on DJ Shaw for second place in
the closing laps. |

Race Results of the
Saturday, Sept. 13th
Southern Maine Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep
PASS 400 |
Day two of the PASS 400
Weekend presented by Southern Maine
Motors Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep
featured qualifying for Sunday’s 300
Lap PASS Super Late Model Event
along with PASS Modifieds, NELCAR
Legends, Street Stocks, and the PASS
Northeast Late Model Series (NELMS).
The PASS Super Late Model
(SLM) heats race put on some great
side by side action as the top 18
cars were locked into the field with
the top six cars in each heat
qualifying for tomorrow's 300 lap
event. Johnny Clark took the win in
heat race one, Tyler Dippel won heat
race two, and Derek Ramstrom also
grabbed a heat race victory.
Later in the racing program the
SLM consolation races also hosted
some great action with only the top
4 cars from each of those two races
making it into the main event Kelly
Moore won the first consi race and
Mike Rowe won the second. This
leaves the remaining cars that have
not qualified with just one more
chance to qualify for the Southern
Maine Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep 300 on
Sunday as they will have to race
their way in from the last chance
qualifier.
The NELCAR Legends
were the first feature event of the
afternoon with Trevor Sandborn
winning in the number #29. Sandborn
who was pulling double duty was also
able to look himself into the 300
lap SLM race with a solid run in his
heat race.
The PASS Modified
Feature was full of side by side
action as point leader Scott
Alexander would end up taking the
victory followed by Andy Shaw and
Mark Lucas. The PASS Modifieds will
be back again on Sunday for another
40 laps of open wheel action
The Strictlys/Wildcats 75 lap open
featured a 24 car strong field. Ryan
Hewins was out to an early lead and
looked to be the car to beat, but an
early race spin turned the lead over
Kyle Hewins. Hewins was then passed
Zach Bowie who had charged his way
through the field. Bowie would end
up taking the win followed by Justin
Karkos in second place and Craig
Smith in third place.
In the
PASS Northeast Late Model Series
Connecticut's Ryan Morgan #3 proved
to be the dominant car with Bradley
Babb finishing second and Shane
Clark in third. |

Race Results of the
Friday, Sept. 12th Beech Ridge
Southern Maine Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep
Midweek Open |
The #96 of Jeremy Binette
started on the pole in the sport
truck feature in The Southern Maine
Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep Midweek Open.
The 35 lap truck feature was host to
a hard fought battle between Jeff
Gillette and Chad Binette, with
Binette trying everything to make a
move stick on Gillette's #44 truck.
As they crossed the strip it was all
Gillette taking the checkers.
In the 305 Mad Bombers race Guy
Childs jumpied out to an early lead
and looked to be unbeatable. Childs
lead 34 laps in the 35 lap feature
but with one to go lost the lead
after having a right front tire go
flat. This gave the lead and the win
to the #94 car of Archer Bernard.
The 4 cylinder Rebels race saw
Jaime Heath jump out to the early
lead, but Kyle Hewins had the
fastest car at the end of the race
as he charged into the lead. Kyle
Hewins won the 35 lap feature with
Jaime Heath as runner up and Cam
Childs finishing third.
The
350 Outlaws race featured a tough
battle between Corey Morgan and 2014
Oxford Plains Speedway Outlaw
Sportsman Series Champion Troy
Jordan. In the end Corey Morgan was
victorious and Troy Jordan took home
a well earned second place trophy.
The Midweek Series Open has
officially kicked off what is sure
to be another action packed PASS 400
Weekend sponsored by the great
people from Southern Maine Chrysler
Dodge Jeep. |
