PASS Cancels Balance of 2008 Outlaw Series
Schedule
NAPLES ME
- (May 16, 2008) Pro All Stars Series President Tom Mayberry announced today
that the series has cancelled all remaining scheduled PASS Outlaws events
for 2008.
In making the announcement, Mayberry said;
As a series we have an obligation to provide both our fans and the
promoters that support us with a top notch racing program whenever we put on
an event. Our first two Outlaw races of the season had nine and twelve cars
respectively, and the small fields had a negative effect on the quality of
the show. There are a number of factors that have reduced the car count, but
economics and the fact that several weekly race tracks have added this type
of car to their weekly programs are, I believe, the primary reasons for the
decline."
" I would like to thank
all of the racers and race fans that have supported the Outlaw Series during
the past two seasons, and offer a special thanks to the twelve teams that
took part in our two 2008 events. |

PASS Outlaws Ready to Rumble in 2008
Naples ME - Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom
Mayberry has released the 2008 schedule for the PASS Outlaws, and the
schedule contains a new look for the upcoming season.
"We've combined the various Outlaw divisions of seasons
past into one single schedule for 2008", said Mayberry, "and we've tried to
keep travel costs under control by scheduling the races in a closer
proximity to the racers themselves. It's a solid schedule that will give the
Outlaw Series plenty of racing while leaving some summer weekends free to
enjoy other family activities as well."
The PASS Outlaws will visit five Maine and New
Hampshire Speedways for a total of eight events, with one possible
additional date still under negotiation. The series will open at Speedway 95
in Hermon Maine on Saturday May 3rd and travel to Groveton New Hampshire's
Riverside Speedway on Saturday May 10th. Epping New Hampshire's All Star
Speedway will host the PASS Outlaws on two occasions, Saturday May 31st and
again on Saturday August 23rd. Three Wiscasset (ME) Raceway stops are on tap
for the Outlaws, Sunday June 15th, Saturday August 16th and the season
finale championship event on Saturday October 4th. The winner of the August
16th Wiscasset Outlaw date will earn a guaranteed starting spot in one of
the PASS season's premiere Super Late Model events, the DNK 250 at Wiscasset
Raceway on Sunday August 17th. The Outlaws will return to Scarborough Maine
for the PASS 400 Weekend at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on Friday September
19th through Sunday September 21st.
The 2008 PASS Outlaws rules are posted now at
www.proallstarsseries.com. Questions regarding the series should be directed
to Scott Reed at 207-625-3230 between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00 PM.

Rosenfield Outlaw Combo and North Champ; Hammond Central Champ
(Naples, ME October 13, 2007)
The PASS Outlaw Late Models were next up for
100 green-flag laps of action. The #66X of Mike Fowler and the #57 of Zig
Geno brought the 24 car field to the green. Things almost went really badly
for #44 of Jim Rosenfield as he and the #01 of Joe Decker got together
coming off turn four on lap one, but both kept going without bringing out
the yellow.
On lap 36, the leaders were already lapping cars, but the #72 of Brian
Whitney, who was only eight points behind Rosenfield for the North Division
championship, and Ryan Nolin of Georgia, VT in the Mountain Air Systems #78
in his first PASS Outlaw Series outing were not about to give up their
side-by-side battle for the leaders. But, after a ten lap battle, Fowler
squeezed by the two coming out of turn four and put them both down a lap.
At the halfway mark, it was Fowler, the #53 of Alan Wilson, and the #23 of
D. J. Shaw. On lap 55, the leaders had to scramble into the infield grass as
the #20 of Brian Henry and the #87 of Dave Bitondo tangled in turn three.
Several lapped cars scrambled by the leaders as they came across the grass
on the frontstretch and moved to the back of the field on the restart.
A quick spin by Mike Thomas in the #25 brought out the fourth yellow of the
day on lap 58, but Thomas got it going in front of the leaders and saved
himself a lap. Fowler jumped out again to the lead on the restart. Wilson
took to the outside to challenge Fowler, but D J. Shaw took the open low
line and took over second. Wilson doesnt give up that easily, however, and
at lap 75 he took second back from D. J.
On lap 80, Donnie Lashua in the #21 saw an end to a good day as he coasted
to a stop in turn two bringing out yellow number five. Young Shaw spun in
turn four on lap 82, and several cars dodged around him as the young gun
kept it going but lost several spots.
With ten laps to go, it was still Fowler, Wilson, with Matt Lee in the #00
making it a three-way battle. A quick debris yellow at lap 91 saw Fowler
take off again to a three car length lead. On lap 93, the great run of
Wilson went bad as he and Lee tangled off turn four with several cars behind
them including the #57 of Geno, the #55 of Jimmy Renfrew, and the #15 of
Chris Wilk all getting caught up in the wreck. Lee drove off quickly to
maintain second, but Wilson was done for the day
Fowler went out to the lead again, and Lee couldnt catch him over the last
seven laps, and Fowler claimed his first PASS Outlaw win after running well
in many races, but not having the luck to close it out. This time he was the
class of the field and made it all work.
Rosenfield avoided trouble after his lap one scare and brought home the PASS
Outlaw Series Combo title for the Middleboro, MA veteran after he claimed
the Central title last year. And, as a bonus, he also claimed the North
Division title, but gave up the Central crown to Walt Hammond. |

HAMMOND
SCORES BIG IN FRONT OF HOMETOWN CROWD
AT CANAAN MOTORSPORTS COMPLEX
A gorgeous Labor Day afternoon,
greeted a good crowd of race fans at the Canaan Motorsports
Complex in Canaan, New Hampshire, as the Pro All Star Series
invaded the 1/3 mile Speedway with their PASS Outlaw Late
Models, PASS Mods, PASS Pullen Industries Limited Sportsman, and
a four cylinder open. Winners on the day included Walt Hammond,
Jason Taylor, George Baldwin and Mark Childs Jr.
The Outlaw Late Models took center stage with a 100 lap main
event. By virtue of his heat win, Mike Harnish grabbed the early
lead, and held the field at bay til just past the half way point
in the event. Alan Wilson and Walt Hammond were challenging on
each restart, but never could quite get the jump on Harnish. On
lap fifty-four, Harnish apparently missed a shift and fell deep
into the field. Wilson was off like a rocket, when suddenly his
car careened off the backstretch into the barrier, ending his
day. A flat right front tire caused the mishap. This sent
Hammond to the point, a position he wouldn't relinquish for the
remainder of the event. Hammond's margin of victory was nearly a
full straightaway. Following Hammond to the line were Jay Sands,
Donnie Lashua, Jimmy Rosenfield and Mike Harnish. Heat checkers
flew for Harnish, Wilson and Jimmy Renfrew.
Jason Taylor got to the front early in the PASS Mod 40 lapper
and never looked back as he cruised to an easy win over Troy
Morse and Chris Staples. Staples battled Morse hard over the
final five laps but just couldn't find a way by. Fourth spot
went to Gary Norris and Chris Smith completed the top five. Troy
Morse and Richie Morse won their respective heats.
The double LL of George Baldwin absolutely dominated the Pullen
Industries Limited Sportsman 75 lap main event, as survived
numerous restarts and walked away with the first place trophy.
Michael Landry gave it his best shot but had to settle for
second. Chris Curtis and Ricky Bly placed third and fourth,
while unofficially, Joe Tetreault rolled home in the fifth
position. Baldwin, Joey Doiron and Landry posted heat victories.
The four cylinder Bandits entertained the crowd with some
exciting three wide racing throughout the pack, but when all was
said and done, Mark Childs Jr. dusted the field and took the top
spot back to Maine with him. David Chestnut Jr., Amanda Kehoe,
Kyle Small and Trevor Perrault completed the top five. Shawn
Swallow and Childs won their respective qualifying events. |

COLBY
SURVIVES IN UNITY OUTLAW FEATURE on 6/17
The 100-lap race PASS Outlaw feature only lasted 94 laps. That
wasnt because of
rain, sleet or snow, but because some of the field needed a
time-out.
The final straw in the caution plagued race came when Chuck
Colby hit the frontstretch
wall hard. That ended a race that feature everything from
harmless spins to major impacts
with the dirt banks.
One driver who stayed away from any kind of trouble was Charlie
Colby, who won in his #87 machine.
We had this car going pretty good today, said Colby, who made
a dedication of his Fathers Day victory. This one is for my
Dad, who passed away a few years ago. Hed be so happy to see us
win this race.
Brian Whitney and Matt Lee also finished on the podium and were
happy to survive the race.
It was a little exciting, said runner-up Whitney. But it was
a good day for us.
We had a little bad luck in the last few races, said
third-place Lee. Early on here, I kind of overdrove it and went
off the track, but thats the way that it goes sometimes.
Jimmy Rosenfield finished fourth and Mike Harnish took the fifth
spot after rebuilding his car after a heat race wreck. Showing
the community spirit in the Outlaw pit, crew members from
various teams helped Harnish repair his ride to make it to the
feature race. |

PASS
Outlaws, Mods and Sportsman to End Their Seasons at White Mountain
Motorsports Park
Newly Announced October Event
Will Also Include a Strictly Stock Open
NAPLES, ME (May 1, 2007) Competitors in three of the Pro All Stars Series
divisions in the Northeast will have one final mountain to climb before
wrapping up their championship battles this year literally.
PASS has announced a season-ending event for the PASS Outlaw Late Models,
PASS Modifieds and PASS Sportsmen to be held on October 14th at White
Mountain Motorsports Park (NH). The high-banked quarter mile oval already
has two PASS North Super Late Model events on their docket this year, with
races scheduled for that division on May 26th and September 15th.
At White Mountain, the Outlaw teams will headline the show with a 100
lap-feature, the Sportsman will have a 75-lap feature and the PASS Modifieds
will go 40 laps in their feature event.
Our Super Late Model teams love going to White Mountain, said PASS
President Tom Mayberry. The teams in the other divisions have been asking
if they could have a race there as well, so we put this weekend together. It
should be an exciting show with championships on the line.
A 40-lap open competition Strictly Stock race will also be a part of the
show. The rules for that event will be the same as for the open show for the
class as part of the annual PASS 400 weekend at Beech Ridge.
Before the White Mountain race comes around, there will be plenty of other
racing for PASS fans.
The PASS North Super Late Model season will kick off with a doubleheader
weekend in early May. On Saturday, the tour will open their year at Beech
Ridge Motor Speedway (ME) on May 5th before heading to Speedway 95 for a
Sunday afternoon show on May 6th.
The PASS Outlaw Late Models and PASS Modifieds will also be a part of the
Beech Ridge opener. The Modifieds will join the Super Late Models at
Speedway 95 as well.The PASS
Sportsman Series debuts on May 27th at Speedway 95. The PASS South Super
Late Model tour resumes their season on June 2nd at Anderson Speedway (SC). |
