October 13, 2026 — Oxford, Maine — Officials at Oxford Plains Speedway (OPS) and the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) announced today that the dates for the 54th Annual Oxford 250 weekend have been set for August 20, 21, and 22, 2027. The three-day racing spectacular will once again bring together the best Super Late Model competitors from across New England and beyond, all chasing one of the most coveted trophies in short track auto racing at the historic facility.
“We are thrilled to set the date for the 54th running of the Oxford 250,” said PASS and OPS President Tom Mayberry. “There is a tremendous amount of planning by the organizations, race teams, and fans that goes into an event of this magnitude, so we wanted to get the date out there so that process can begin.”
First held in 1974, the Oxford 250 has become a late-summer tradition that attracts thousands of race fans and creates memories that last a lifetime. With the speedway capable of welcoming crowds of up to 14,000 spectators, the Oxford 250 weekend combines on-track competition with the tradition, camping, and fan interaction that have made the event a bucket-list destination for short track racing fans for more than five decades.
The 54th running will also carry the momentum of a 2026 event that saw Saturday night regular Brandon Barker etch his name into Oxford 250 history. Barker's victory showed once again that anyone who has the proper preparation, determination, and a little bit of luck can win one of the nation’s biggest short track races.
A major part of what makes the Oxford 250 unique is its qualifying format. Starting positions for the heat races are determined by a random draw on the frontstretch, putting established teams and local racers on equal footing when the weekend begins. Twenty lap heat races, consolation rounds, and a last chance race set the 42-car starting field. The format places a premium on passing, race craft, and determination, often giving local underdogs an opportunity to earn a starting position alongside some of the biggest names in racing.
“Each year, we want the Oxford 250 to be as good or better than the year before. As good as the racing has been the last four or five years, we think the 2027 version will be even better,” said Mayberry.
Beyond the racing itself, the Oxford 250 weekend has grown into one of the largest sporting spectacles in Maine. The massive three-day festival draws fans from all over the Northeast and beyond, creating an electric atmosphere throughout the Oxford Plains Speedway grounds.
On August 20-22, 2027, drivers will arrive at Oxford Plains Speedway with the same goal that competitors have chased since 1974: survive the qualifying gauntlet, conquer 250 laps, and have their name permanently etched into the history books alongside such greats as Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Ralph Nason, Bubba Pollard, Jeff Taylor, Mike Rowe, Dave Dion, and more as the winner of one of the most prestigious short-track races in America. The 54th Annual Oxford 250 promises to again deliver speed, strategy, drama, and the unpredictable racing that has made the event a longstanding tradition.
