Thriller at Hickory Motor

HICKORY, NC
(November 21) - Brandon
Setzer took the lead from
Mike Hopkins for the final
time with 60 laps to go and
held on for a popular
hometown win Saturday
afternoon in the 10th Annual
Mason-Dixon Meltdown 200 at
Hickory Motor Speedway.
Setzer becomes the 7th
different first-time winner
in Pro All Stars Series
(PASS) South Super Late
Model competition for 2015.
"Man it's so awesome
to get this win in front of
the hometown crowd, I've got
so many sponsors and family
and friends here, I've just
got to thank everybody so
much," said Setzer in
victory lane. "Mike Hopkins
drove a great race and his
stuff stayed together way
better than I thought it
would in the first half. He
[Hopkins] pushed me really
hard there, that's all I
had, and Tyler [Church]
there at the end too, but
you know this thing had
enough."

Victory At Concord |
MIDLAND, NC (November 8) - David
Garbo, Jr. took the lead on the

way for his first career Pro All
Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late
Model win in Sunday afternoon's 13th
Annual North-South Shootout at

"I drove in
a Late Model Stock race here three
years ago and Concord has been my
favorite racetrack ever since," said
Garbo, driver of the Garbo Lobster
#8 for the Fathead Racing team. "We
decided to bring a crate motor here
and I really wasn't that sure about
the decision because this place is
so fast, but it definitely worked to
our favor in the end."

Doiron Spins and Wins to
Claim Howler Victory and PASS
Nat’l Championship At Greenville |
EASLEY, SC (October 24) -
Fireworks erupted Saturday night
when Joey Doiron and Zane Smith made
contact just past the finish line at
Greenville Pickens Speedway as
Doiron crashed taking the win in The
Howler for the Pro All Stars Series
(PASS) South Super Late Models.
Despite a car that was destroyed in
the incident, Doiron walked to
victory lane with the win and his
first PASS Super Late Model National
Championship.
"I try to race
everybody like they race me and now
my car is destroyed," said Doiron
afterwards. "We held back and saved
our tires and just had enough to get
there to the leader [Smith] and race
for the win. We're really proud to
win the PASS National Championship
too. It's a lot of hard work during
the season to get to all these races
in the North and South and I'm glad
it paid off for us to get the
title."

"We
were just saving that whole
time, all three of us, and
we were just nose to tell
that entire time and I had
my chance and went to the
bottom," said Smith
afterwards in victory lane.
"It sucks, I would have
loved to race with them, but
it is what it is and we were

Jared Fryar
Survives Wild Night For
First Career PASS South Win
At Caraway |
SOPHIA, NC (July 25)
- Jared Fryar took the lead
from veteran Greg Marlowe
with 13 laps to go and led
the rest of the way to score
his first career Pro All
Stars Series (PASS) South
Super Late Model win
Saturday night at Caraway
Speedway. Fryar had to
survive a wild event that
saw the caution flag wave
six times in the 125 lap
event on PASS Fan
Appreciation night at the
races.
"I got a
little nervous when we
dropped back to seventh
there, but luckily we were
able to get back to third
and cruise and then we got a
late race caution and things
fell our way," said Fryar,
who has finished no lower
than fourth in just three
PASS South starts in 2015.
"He [Marlowe] was hard to
get by there, but it just
feels awesome to finally get
my first PASS Super Late
Model win. I just can't
thank all of the people who
have stuck behind me and
believed in what we're
doing."

Jared Irvan Delivers
Father's Day Gift
For
1st PASS South Win At
Anderson |
WILLIAMSTON, SC (June 19) -
Jared Irvan took the lead
from Roger Lee Newton with
six laps to go following a
long side-by-side battle to
win the Electric City 125
Friday night at Anderson
Motor Speedway. The win was
Irvan's first career victory
in the Pro All Stars Series
(PASS) South Super Late
Model division.
"My
car really wasn't that good
in practice and even at the
beginning of the race, but I
definitely saved my stuff
and was able to come back to
the front," said Irvan
alongside the Kia Of
Anderson Chevrolet in
victory lane. "Roger Lee
[Newton] and I raced each
other hard, but we raced it
other clean and I'm glad he
raced me that way. I didn't
think I was going to get by
him for a while, but finally
I got a good run coming off
turn two and I got by him."
The win was especially
sweet for Jared's dad,
Ernie, and proved to be an
early Father's Day present
for the 1991 Daytona 500
winner.
"Any time you
can your son take after you
and win races means a lot,
especially since we haven't
been able to race Jared a
whole lot this year," said
Ernie Irvan. "It's great for
him to be able to win on
Father's Day weekend. Its
really neat. I'm kinda stuck
for words."

PASS South Win At South
Boston |
SOUTH BOSTON, VA
(June 6) - Kaz Grala took
the lead from Jared Fryar
for the final time with 32
laps to go and pulled away
to score his first career
Pro All Stars Series (PASS)
South Super Late Model win
Saturday night at South
Boston Speedway. Grala joins
Kyle Busch, Alex Haase, and
Christopher Bell as drivers
who have been able to take
Kyle Busch-owned Toyotas to
victory lane in PASS
competition.
"Man,
that was a blast, first PASS
race ever and it definitely
got hectic on those
restarts," said Grala
afterwards in victory lane.
"On the short run we were
pretty snug on corner entry
and free on exit, but it
only took a couple of laps
before it came back in. As
soon as the car came back in
we were able to hunt him
[Fryar] back down and get
under him. To sit on the
pole and win my first PASS
race is just awesome, I
would have never imagined
that."

KINGSPORT, TN (May

(PASS) South Super Late
Model points leader Zane
Smith took the lead
following contact between
leaders Roger Lee Newton and
Jeff Fultz with 11 laps to
go and led the rest of the

Old Glory 125 at Concord
Speedway. Smith's victory
came in the first race back
at the venerable half-mile
speedway in nearly three
years.
"I don't know
how I won this one, I told
them on the radio 'I don't
know how I'm going pass
them, but I'm going to
figure out a way to get
by'," said Smith in victory
lane afterwards. "To be
honest, I kinda saw it
coming because they [Newton
and Fultz] were running so
close. We didn't qualify
great, but we were
consistent and I knew we
would be good in the race.
And, luckily we were."

KINGSPORT, TN (May
8) - Pro All Stars
Series (PASS) South
Super Late Model
points leader Zane
Smith took the lead
from veteran Lee
Tissot on lap 47 and
led the rest of the
way to score the win
in the Daniel Boone
Classic 125 Friday
night at Kingsport
Speedway. The win
comes in only
Smith's ninth PASS
South Super Late
Model start and
continues a dream
season which started
with a Speedweeks
championship at New
Smyrna Speedway back
in February.
"I can't thank this
Crooks Racing crew
enough, they're the
reason this car went
so fast and they
make my job a lot
easier," said Smith,
donning the
traditional coonskin
cap that goes to the
winner of the Daniel
Boone Classic. "The
outside groove
worked great. We
didn't even try that
in practice and I
decided I didn't
want to try the
bottom so we moved
up top and made it
work."
In
qualifying, Smith
set a blazing pace
to capture his first
career PASS South
fast qualifying time
with a lap of 14.757
seconds around the
.375 mile concrete
speedway. After the
top 10 qualifiers
redraw, Smith would
slot back into the
seventh position
while Jody Measamer
and Tate Fogleman
moved to the front
row. |

150 Win At Hickory |
HICKORY, NC (April 4) -
Preston Peltier took the lead from
Derek Scott, Jr. on a lap 44 restart
and never looked back to take a
dominating win in the 10th Annual
Easter Bunny 150 Saturday night at
Hickory Motor Speedway for the Pro
All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late
Models. Peltier's third Easter Bunny
160 triumph was his sixth PASS South
win at the speedway and pushed his
series leading wins total to 14.
"I was a little worried that a
caution would come out at the end,
but thank God it didn't and we were
able to get this Hamke Dodge to
victory lane," said Peltier. "This
suits my driving style because
Hickory is a momentum racetrack. I
learned the hard way how to save
tires and we did that tonight. It
just feels great to get another
Easter Bunny win." |

WILLIAMSTON, SC
(March 21) - 3-time Pro All
Stars Series (PASS) National
Champion Ben Rowe began his
title defense in style with
a thrilling win in Saturday
night's Peach Blossom
Special for the PASS South
Super Late Models at
Anderson Motor Speedway.
Rowe held off rookies Zane
Smith and Jared Fryar to
snap a winless streak dating
back to November, 2013 when
he won the North-South
Shootout at Caraway
Speedway.
"It was
cat-and-mouse the whole race
and on the restart I got out
in front, I was just trying
to keep the 77 [Smith] 2-3
car lengths behind," said
Rowe, after his 9th career
PASS South Super Late Model
win. "We stayed here till
8:30 last night working on a
skip we had in the engine
and I can't thank my guys
enough. It took me by
surprise when [Smith] got up
on the outside, but it's
tough. These kids are pretty
fun to race with and coming

was pretty cool." |

Church took the lead from
Jody Measamer with 23 laps
to go and withstood a
late-race restart to win the
10th Annual South Carolina
Clash 125 Saturday night at
Dillon Motor Speedway.
Earlier in the day, Church
revealed that anything less
than a win could prove to be
a premature ending to the
2015 season for the family
financed team.
"That
was a wild race, that was
tough," said an emotional
Church in victory lane. "We
borrowed money against the
house just so we could be
here to race...and I'm going
racing again. On that last
restart I didn't want to let
up until I got back up front
and, dadgum, we've come this
far and I was going to win
this race."

"This event was always
really popular the fans and

In addition to the PASS

Pro Late Models, the KOMA
Unwind Modifieds will join
PASS at Greenville-Pickens
Speedway on Saturday,
October 24. It will be the
third pairing of PASS and
the KOMA Unwind Modifieds,
joining combo events between
the two sanctioning bodies
at Kingsport (TN) Speedway
and Concord (NC) Speedway in
May. This event will mark
the first time Tour-type
Modifieds have raced at
Greenville-Pickens Speedway
since 2007. An additional
feature division could be
added to the stellar card of
racing in the coming weeks.
Former racer turned
promoter Anthony Anders has
recently taken the reigns at
Greenville-Pickens Speedway
making numerous improvements
to the facility. Anders, who
has raced with PASS at times
over the years, is excited
to close out the season at
the nearly 70-year-old
facility with such a major
event.
The 2015 season will begin on

CHARLOTTE, NC
(January 16) - Pro All Stars
Series (PASS) officials,
along with representatives
of Short Track Management,
are pleased to announce the
return of the PASS South
Super Late Model and PASS
Pro Late Model divisions to
Ace Speedway in Altamahaw,
NC in 2015. The 4th Running
of the Labor Day Classic at
Ace Speedway will take place
on Labor Day afternoon,
Monday, September 7, 2015.
In addition to PASS, the
Madhouse Modifieds, which
are featured at the
legendary Bowman Gray
Stadium in Winston-Salem,
NC, will compete in Twin 25
lap features under Stadium
rules and on Stadium tires.
The USAC Eastern Midgets
will complete the
entertaining Labor Day
afternoon festivities of
racing at Ace Speedway.
"We're really glad to be
returning to Ace Speedway in
2015 for this exciting card
of racing on Labor Day,"
said PASS President Tom
Mayberry. "Ace always
provides great
fender-to-fender action and
has some of the best fans in
short track racing. We're
really glad to partner with
Bill [Catania] and all the
folks at Short Track
Management as they begin
their new venture at Ace
Speedway."
Short
Track Management CEO Bill
Catania recently acquired
the lease to promote events
at Ace Speedway in 2015 and
has been a long-time
competitor in the PASS South
Super Late Model division.
Catania finished 10th in
PASS South Super Late Model
points in 2012 and is
excited to have PASS
featured as the biggest
event of the season at Ace
Speedway.
"There is
arguably no better
door-to-door, fender rubbing
racing than the Pro All
Stars Series," says Catania.
"The size and configuration
at Ace sets the stage for a
true bullring showdown. As a
PASS competitor I won't miss
this race for anything and
as a fan I would put it at
the top of my list. I have
tremendous respect for Tom
Mayberry - he has arguably
built the most action packed
product in short track
racing and I'm glad that the
path to the 2015 PASS South
Super Late Model
championship will run
through Ace Speedway."
The Labor Day Classic
returns to the PASS South
schedule for the first time
since 2012 after having
rotated from North
Wilkesboro Speedway to Ace
Speedway, and finally to
Caraway Speedway. However,
this will be the first time
the Classic has actually
been held on Labor Day. This
will be the fifth time PASS
has competed at Ace
Speedway, with Andy Loden,
Ryan Blaney, Clay Rogers,
and most recently, Tyler
Church all going to victory
lane there in the past.
The Pro All Stars Series
is recognized as North
America's premier
sanctioning body for asphalt

AUSTIN THERIAULT |

DANIEL HEMRIC |
CHARLOTTE, NC (February 24)
- With Speedweeks 2015 concluding at
Daytona International Speedway, race
fans and pundits are now reflecting
on what this year's action might
tell us about the new season. Upon
observation, several Pro All Stars
Series (PASS) Super Late Model
graduates had a successful start.
2011 PASS South Super Late Model
rookie, Ryan Reed, shocked the
racing fraternity by capturing his
first Xfinity Series win with a last
lap pass of former PASS South car
owner Brad Keselowski.
But,
looking even closer, one notices
that the 10th Annual South Carolina
Clash coming up on March 7 at Dillon
Motor Speedway could produce a
future Daytona storyline. As a
matter of fact, four of the last
five South Carolina Clash winners
made their debuts in various series
at Daytona.
Former PASS South
Super Late Model Champion Ryan
Blaney made his first start in the
Daytona 500 this past weekend,
driving the iconic #21 for the Wood
Brothers. Blaney had a strong
showing, running in the lead draft
late in the race before being
sidelined by an engine failure.
Blaney is the only two-time
winner of the South Carolina Clash
at Dillon, taking the checkered flag
in 2010 and 2011. In fact his win in
2010 at Dillon Motor Speedway, was
his first of five career PASS South
Super Late Model triumphs.
Maine's Austin Theriault actually
took over the #29 Brad Keselowski
Racing Ford in the Truck Series upon
Blaney's move up to the Cup Series
in 2015. In his first ever Truck
Series start at Daytona, Theriault
finished fourth in a four-wide photo
finish at the line, after helping
teammate Tyler Reddick to the win.
This was not Theriault's first
time crossing the line in a photo
finish though. In the 2013 South
Carolina Clash, Theriault took
advantage of race leader Preston
Peltier as he slowed for the lapped
car of John Hunter Nemecheck
entering turn three, to take the win
in the closest finish in PASS South
Super Late Model history. Not only
has Theriault tasted success in PASS
South, but he is also a former PASS
North Super Late Model winner,
winning at Oxford Plains Speedway in
2012 and at Beech Ridge Motor
Speedway the following year.
And finally, last year's South
Carolina Clash winner, Daniel
Hemric, was able to get his first
experience at Daytona International
Speedway. To start Speedweeks,
Hemric hit the high banks for the
first time with the ARCA series,
getting valuable experience in the
draft and finishing a very
impressive 12th.
Then, Hemric
joined the NTS Motorsports team for
their first race together as they go
for the Truck Series championship.
Again, Hemric accounted himself
well, running near the front, before
being collected in a multi-truck
accident not of his own making.
While Daytona International
Speedway and Dillon Motor Speedway
have little more in common than that
they are both asphalt and are both
located off Interstate 95, there is
little denying that success at the
South Carolina short track could
someday lead to big things on stock
car racing's biggest stage.
The 2015 season will begin on
Saturday, March 7 with the 10th
Annual South Carolina Clash at
Dillon Motor Speedway with rotating
practice starting at Noon, followed
by qualifying at 3:30 PM, and
feature racing at 5 PM for the PASS
South Super Late Models, PASS Pro
Late Models, Challengers/Chargers,
and Legends. Please go

forms and the complete weekend
schedule.
The Pro All Stars
Series is recognized as North
America's premier sanctioning body
for asphalt Super Late Models and
boasts such marquee events as the
legendary Oxford 250 at Oxford
Plains Speedway and PASS South's
Easter Bunny 150 at the historic
Hickory Motor Speedway. For

Noles Brothers
Quest For PASS Championships
Begins At Dillon |
CHARLOTTE, NC
(February 19) - As the 2015
Pro All Stars Series (PASS)
season approaches in just
over two weeks at South
Carolina's Dillon Motor
Speedway, a pair of talented
brothers fully expect to be
part of the championship
chase. Coulter Motorsports
expands in 2015, fielding
the Noles Cabinets #2
Chevrolet for Trevor Noles
in the PASS South Super Late
Model division, while
newcomer Wesley Noles will
drive the Wurth Military
Missions In Action #22
Chevrolet in the PASS Pro
Late Model division.
Trevor Noles heads to Dillon
Motor Speedway for the 10th
Annual South Carolina Clash
as a preseason favorite for
the PASS South Super Late
Model championship. But,
that optimism is tempered by
the memory of a slow start
to the season in 2014 which
the team could never fully
recover from. Noles finished
a very disappointing 28th in
last year's season opener at
Greenville-Pickens Speedway
and followed that up with
more disappointment by
finishing 14th at Dillon.
However, with a full year
now under his belt racing
PASS South Super Late Models
and teamed again with
veteran crew chief Randy
Renfrow, Trevor believes the
team will fare much better
in this year's "Clash."
"As far as Dillon last
year, I had high hopes going
into that race, I've had two
wins and two second place
finishes there in the Pro
Late Model division and
had a 3rd place finish in
the Super Late Model
division at the end of
2013," says Trevor Noles. "I
have always liked Dillon,
just not the best of luck
there last March in the
Super Late Model race.
Hopefully we can get the
season started off on a
good note and maintain good
runs throughout the season.
Randy [Renfrow] and all the
guys at the shop have worked
hard in the off season
getting everything ready for
2015."
Momentum is
no doubt on Trevor Noles
side heading into 2015. He
ended last season strong
taking the lead late from
Christopher Bell to score
his first career PASS South
Super Late Model win in the
prestigious Mason Dixon
Meltdown 200 at Southern
National Motorsports Park.
After finishing sixth in the
final standings, Noles
believes 2015 could be the
year for he and his Coulter
Motorsports team.
"The win at Southern
National was awesome, not
only for me but the entire
Coulter Motorsports racing
group," Noles said. "This
was the first Super Late
Model win in the PASS Series
with the Coulter team. Last
season was a long year
without a win until that
last race. We had a lot of
good finishes but just
couldn't get the wins. It
boosted my confidence
tremendously."
New to
the fold this year will be
younger brother Wesley Noles
making his PASS Pro Late
Model debut at Dillon Motor
Speedway on March 7. A
graduate of Go Kart racing,
the pressure to perform
could be on Wesley in the
Pro Late Model ranks. Wesley
stepped away from racing at
a young age to pursue
baseball, but racing has
always stuck in the back of
his mind. And, thanks to a
little prodding from Randy
Renfrow, Wesley is ready to
follow his brother, Trevor's
path in PASS.
"I
wasn't able to go to many
races last year but happened
to be at Southern National
in November and was able to
watch Trevor wheel his car
to the front," said Wesley
Noles. "Afterwards, Randy
Renfrow said, 'That could be
you next year.' That's all
it took and here we are.
I've never been more excited
in my life. We haven't been
able to practice as much so
we'll just have to see how
it goes. I'm very fortunate
to have the many sponsors,
family and friends
supporting me."
The
2015 season will begin on
Saturday, March 7 with the
10th Annual South Carolina
Clash at Dillon Motor
Speedway with rotating
practice starting at Noon,
followed by qualifying at
3:30 PM, and feature racing

Tate
Fogleman Partners with
Woodman Racing for Run at
PASS Titles |
CHARLOTTE, NC
(February 3) - Jay Fogleman
Racing will partner with
Woodman Racing to field the
#8 Ford entry for Tate
Fogleman. The new team will
chase both the Pro All Stars
Series (PASS) National
Championship and PASS South
Super Late Model titles in
2015. Woodman Racing's Dicky
Woodman will maintain the
machine out of his China
Grove, NC shops and will
serve as crew chief on race
day for the third generation
racer.
The new
partnership will serve as a
reunion of sorts between the
two teams. In 2013, Jay
Fogleman drove primarily for
Woodman Racing en route to
both the PASS National
Championship and PASS South
Super Late Model title.
"We're really looking
forward to it," said Jay
Fogleman. "It will take a
lot of pressure off me while
I pursue other business
opportunities not having to
maintain the cars in my
shop. Dicky and my family
have become great friends
and I feel like this is the
best way we can focus on
Tate and continue to develop
his racing career."
Tate Fogleman is coming off
one of the best seasons of
his young career. In just
his second season in a PASS
South Super Late Model, Tate
continued to show the
promise he developed during
a successful PASS Pro Late
Model career. The younger
Fogleman scored his best
career finish, a strong
third place effort at
Southern National
Motorsports Park in July,
and finished third in the
PASS National Championship
standings. Woodman sees many
of the same traits in Tate
that took his father to
victory lane so many times
over the course of long his
long career.
"They
both know how to win, they
both have good drive
ability, but it's hard to
compare their styles because
they come from such
different racing
backgrounds," says Woodman.
"We tested for the first
time last weekend and I
would take Tate anywhere
right now. He was as good on
lap 100 as he was on lap 4.
It's a little more than a
racing deal, it's more like
family."
The 2015
season will begin on
Saturday, March 7 with the
10th Annual South Carolina
Clash at Dillon Motor
Speedway with rotating
practice starting at Noon,
followed by qualifying at
3:30 PM, and feature racing

PASS Racer
Spotlight: Matt Murphy
Honors MLK's Dream
Through Racing |
CHARLOTTE, NC
(January 19) - Pro All Stars
Series (PASS) Pro Late Model
racer Matt Murphy draws
inspiration, as do many
others like him, through the
words and example of Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr. But
for many, the 14-year-old
aspiring race car driver
from Charlotte, NC is
himself an inspiration.
Murphy started out
racing Go Karts and Junior
Dragsters when he was just 6
-years-old before eventually
moving up in to the
Bandolero division. Now in
his second year racing PASS
Pro Late Models, Murphy
showed great improvement in
2014, finishing third in
overall points with six top
5 finishes, including a
career best third place
finish at Dillon Motor
Speedway last March. As the
2014 season wound down,
Murphy was consistently
challenging for top five
finishes thanks, in large
part, to a collaborative
effort between Crew Chief
Michael Rouse, Dean
Clattenberg, and Bill Pink,
along with New Day
Motorsports' Jeff Day and
Brandon Ward. Those results
have Murphy firmly focused
on a singular goal in
2015...winning.
"Our
plan for this year is to win
a championship," said
Murphy. "Our performance
really picked up at the end
of last season. I'm really
looking forward to racing at
Southern National again and
can't wait to hit one of the
new tracks on the schedule
for 2015, Concord Speedway."
With support from LA& B
Construction, Cool Shirt
Cooling Systems, Matt
Enterprise, and DW Designs,
Matt Murphy is confident he
will get the #7 into the
winner's circle in 2015.
But, racing is just a part
of what makes this young
African-American driver
special. Matt has created a
community service effort
called Project S.H.A.R.E
(Sacrificing Hands are Real
Examples). Project S.H.A.R.E
focuses on providing
resources to create a better
lifestyle for homeless
youth. He is also a
motivational speaker,
telling his story at
schools, churches,
festivals, and community
related events throughout
North Carolina. And, a book,
S.K.I.D Kids, has even been
written about Matt's story
aimed at building confidence
and self-esteem among youth.
Murphy says he is just doing
his part to carry on Martin
Luther King, Jr.'s vision.
"Dr. King was led by God
and was committed to his
dream, no matter what the
costs were," says Murphy.
"Dr. King's dream inspires
me to do my best on the
track, to be a role model
for the younger generation,
and to realize that my dream
to become a professional
race car driver is
possible."
Matt
Murphy will take his next
step when the PASS Pro Late
Models join the PASS South
Super Late Model division in
kicking off the 2015 season
on Saturday, March 7 at
Dillon Motor Speedway as
part of the 10th Annual
South Carolina Clash. Please

Nick
Robinson Moves To PASS South
Super
Late Models Full-Time In
2015 |
CHARLOTTE, NC
(January 22) - Pro All Stars
Series (PASS) Pro Late Model
veteran Nick Robinson plans
to make the move up to
compete full-time in the
PASS South Super Late Model
division in 2015. The move
comes following a solid year
in 2014 which saw Robinson
score his first career PASS
Pro Late Model win at
Hickory Motor Speedway in
September and finish fifth
in the final standings.
"Our goals for 2015 are
to finish in the top-10
throughout the year and run
consistently at each track,"
said Robinson, who is still
seeking additional
sponsorship for his family
owned team. "I know I will
be running against some
tough competition and I
can't wait to be a part of
it all."
The
13-year-old native of
Clayton, NC, has shown
consistent improvement since
he started competing in the
PASS Pro Late Model division
in 2012. Despite several
strong runs early in 2014,
Robinson was plagued by a
variety of problems that
kept him out of victory
lane. That all changed in
September at Hickory with a
dominating performance as
Robinson captured his first
career checkered flag. An
emotional win that proved
not only popular with
Robinson's friends and
family, but his competitors
as well.
"The win at
Hickory was big to me and my
team because we were
consistently fast at all of
the races leading up to
Hickory, we just never had
them finish out the way we
wanted them to," says
Robinson. "When the race was
done, it was an awesome
feeling to wave the
checkered flag and celebrate
with everyone who made it
happen."
Prior to
that event at Hickory,
though, Robinson actually
made his PASS South Super
Late Model debut at South
Boston Speedway in August.
Robinson qualified well and
was knocking on the door of
the top-10 when a mechanical
problem sidelined him and
relegated him to a 24th
place finish.
"Well
the biggest difference to me
was the power and weight of
the car," said Robinson. "I
could definitely feel the
difference in the speed at
South Boston, which is an
awesome track to have my
debut at. Last year was a
great learning experience
for me. I had fun learning
how to set up my car and
make the proper changes to
improve the car at the
track."
The Nick
Robinson Racing team
recently purchased a brand
new chassis from Robert
Hamke of Hamke Race Cars &
Parts and plans to begin
testing in the coming weeks.
The PASS South Super
Late Model division will be
kicking off the 2015 season
on Saturday, March 7 at
Dillon Motor Speedway as
part of the 10th Annual
South Carolina Clash. The
