SHAW WINS THE RACE,
CASSIUS CLARK WINS THE PASS NORTH
CHAMPIONSHIP |
It was day two of the PASS
North championship weekend, and a
beautiful weather day attracted a
full field of cars into the huge
Oxford Plains Speedway pit area.
Fifty Super Late Models entered the
garage area to compete for
thirty-six positions in the Ripley
and Fletcher Ford 150.
Johnny
Clark and Shawn Martin brought the
field to green with Clark assuming
the point from the get go. Clark
held the lead until Scott Mulkern
took over the top spot on lap 17 and
set a torrid pace until lap 75 when
Joey Doiron slipped by Mulkern for
the lead. Doiron and Cassius Clark
were tied in points heading into the
main event, and Doiron was ecstatic
as the crowd erupted when he grabbed
the top point. Mulkern regained the
lead after a caution for a minor
spin by Dylan Gosbee on lap 94.
Mulkern held off all chargers
including Doiron, Cassius Clark and
DJ Shaw until the final caution flew
on lap 130 as Shawn Martin broke a
suspension part and flew over the
top of turn three. This caution set
up an unbelievable set of
circumstances as the top three,
Mulkern, Clark, and Doiron were
three wide for three consecutive
laps before Clark snared the lead.
The lead time for Clark was short
lived as DJ Shaw raced by, and held
the lead to the finish. Mulkern
raced home second, followed by
Cassius Clark, Travis Benjamin and
Doiron. By finishing in the third
position, Cassius Clark was crowned
the 2013 PASS North champion. In
victory lane Clark thanked the
world, especially his Hight
Chevrolet family for their support.

AUSTIN THERIAULT SCORES
SOUTHERN MAINE MOTORS 300
SLM VICTORY AT BEECH RIDGE |
A gorgeous late summer day
greeted race fans at the beautiful
Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in
Scarborough, Maine on Sunday, and
they were treated to some great
racing in all three PASS divisions
that participated on the final day
of the event.
Young Austin
Theriault carried the checkered flag
in the 300 lap Super Late Model
event, but it was a challenge from
the start as he led for the first
four laps before outside pole
sitter, Corey Bubar took over until
a lap 90 restart for a minor spin by
Kyle Desouza. At this point racing
became intense as some of the top
cars were starting to make their way
through traffic and were headed to
the front. Theriault got the jump on
the restart, and Kelly Moore erupted
from the fourth spot, and jumped to
the second spot at the green. Travis
Benjamin also slipped by Bubar, and
Michael Landry worked Bubar’s inside
for fifth. While Theriault led the
race, Bubar battled his way back
into the second spot before the
caution flew once again for a minor
spin in turn two. Suddenly, Travis
Benjamin headed to the pits, the
hood went up, and apparent
mechanical problems eliminated the
2013 TD Bank 250 from any more
action.

ROSS KENSETH CLAIMS
THUNDER VALLEY NATIONAL 200 VICTORY
at AUTODROME CHAUDIERE |
It took an extra day to get
the event in, but day two was a
charm for the
PASS Super
Late Model National event at
Autodrome Chardiere as Ross Kenseth
held off Jay Fogleman and Karl
Allard to claim the third leg of the
Autobus La Quebecoise Triple Crown
Series this past Sunday afternoon.
Ross Kenseth and Austin
Theriault led the field to green
with Theriault leading lap one
before Kenseth dove underneath on
lap two to take the point. The first
caution of the day flew on lap 5 for
a spinning Jean-Francoise Dery.
Series point leader Johnny Clark
limped to the pit area with a flat
tire, returning just before the
green flag flew again. Kenseth held
his lead until caution flew on lap
26 for rain. The track dried quickly
and action resumed after a fifteen
minute delay. Caution would fly
again for a hard crash as Curtis
Gerry looped his mount in front of
Travis Benjamin, and Benjamin
climbed over the top front fender of
Gerry and Chad Dow got involved in
the tangle as well.

RED HOT JOEY DOIRON
SWEEPS A PAIR OF PASS SLM
FEATURES AT WMMP |
The start of the giant PASS
doubleheader EVENT AT White Mountain
Motorsports Park in North Woodstock,
New Hampshire was delayed by showers
for a little more than half an hour
this past Saturday night, but PASS
and WMMP officials weathered the
storm and completed the show just in
time as showers moved into the area
just moments after the final
checkered flag of more than six
hundred laps of racing came to a
close.
The previously rained
out PASS Super Late Model 150 rolled
to the grid to start off the
afternoon with Bryan Kruczek and Ben
Rowe starting in the front row. Rowe
got the early jump and looked to be
super strong in the early going.
Doiron chased Rowe down, and made
the pass on lap 34. The first
caution of the day came on lap 53
for a minor spin. When the green
flew Doiron was off like a rocket
ship and opened up a sizable until
lapped traffic slow his momentum,
allowing Derek Ranstrom whom started
eighteenth to close in. Ranstrom
turned up the heat on lap 127 as
nobody appeared to be heeding the
passing flag. Ranstrom had Canadian,
Karl Allard on his back bumper with
Doiron a couple of car lengths
ahead. On lap 146 Ranstrom dove
underneath a lapped car leaving
Doiron hung out to dry three wide,
but disaster struck the youngster
from Worcester, Mass. as he had to
lock up the brakes of his mount
causing him to loop his car in front
of the field, bringing out the final
caution of the race. Doiron then
coasted to victory lane ahead of
Allard, Ben Rowe, David Oliver and
DJ Shaw.

collecting $100 a lap in bonus
money, before Ben Rowe assumed the
lead until lap 131 when Doiron raced

Oxford, Maine (4-21-13) -
One year ago, the #77 Hight
Motorsports team with driver Cassius
Clark were looking for their first
PASS North Super Late Model victory.
They got that win in the seasons
third event and advanced to the role
of title contenders by the end of
the season. Clark eventually
finished second to Travis Benjamin
in the final 2012 PASS North
standings.
On Sunday
afternoon at Maine's Oxford Plains
Speedway, Clark and the #77 team
started out their 2013 season with a
victory in the Ripley and Fletcher
Ford 150 PASS North event. By coming
out of the gate with a victory,
Clark is already hoping that this
might be the season where he can
score his first career PASS North
championship.
"We were pretty
pleased with last year. We just fell
short of a goal there," said Clark.
"We worked hard on things over the
winter. Sitting at home and waiting
to race since October has been
tough. Winning was a good way to get
out there and knock the rust off."
