Johnny Clark Cashes In at Beech Ridge

Naples ME - (September 21,2008) Johnny Clark won two races at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway Sunday afternoon. The first was off pit road when he beat the field back to the speedway on lap 258, and the second came when the checkered flag flew on lap 295 of the rain-shortened PASS 300. Clark led the final 42 laps toclaim the $10,000.00 victory over Adam Bates and Kelly Moore in a race that was short on cautions (six), with plenty of long green flag runs and battles for position throughout the thirty-five car field on every lap.

Trevor Sanborn had the field covered for most of the day, leading 225 laps in the season's longest PASS event. But his race car didn't have the edge it once had after pitting for tires and fuel. Sanborn had to settle for fourth followed by Cassius Clark in fifth. Travis Benjamin, DJ Shaw, Ben Rowe, John Stancill and Scott Mulkern completed the top ten. The top eight finished on the lead lap.

The win was Clark's fourth PASS North victory of 2008, drawing him closer to the top of the championship point standings and a shot at his third PASS North title. PASS instituted a "best 12" format for the 2008 points chase so the standings will experience a shake up after the PASS 300, race number thirteen of the fourteen race schedule.

The PASS 300 was one of four races awarding PASS National Championship points, and Cassius Clark has taken the unofficial lead in those standings with his fifth place finish. John Stancill led Clark by two markers prior to the 300; Stancill ran up front for much of the day but a miscue exiting pit road cost the young North Carolina racer a lap late in the race. That series will come down to the Howler at Greenville-Pickens Speedway on  Saturday October 18th. Expect Clark and Stancill to make the trip to Greenville South Carolina to battle it out for the title. Clark is the defending race winner

The PASS North super late model and Mod series championship contenders will wage an on-track war  for their respective 2008 series championships on Saturday October 4th at Wiscasset (ME) Raceway.

Top Three - PASS MODS - L to R: Glen Bradbury #85, 3rd;
Winner Andy Shaw #66; and Troy Morse #6, 2nd.

Shaw Shines in PASS 400 Weekend Mod Feature

NAPLES ME (September 22, 2008) The PASS Mods added extra distance for Sundays' PASS 400 weekend feature at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, and Andy Shaw returned to victory lane for the first time since the PASS Mod opener at the Scarborough Maine oval. Shaw claimed the lead on lap seventeen and dominated the remaining thirty three laps for the convincing win. Troy Morse raced home second, with PASS Mod newcomer Glen Bradbury third, Rod Henry fourth and Tom Oliver fifth.

Greg Ellis and Scott McDaniel brought the field down to the green, and Ellis grabbed the early lead. McDaniel slid up the speedway and fell back through the field, while Bill Dixon ad Ronald Gooden raced up to second and third. Dixon took the lead away from Ellis one lap later and Troy Morse charged past Gooden on lap three for second.

By lap six Shaw was up to fourth from his ninth place starting position, methodically working his way to the front. Morse took his turn at the point, passing Dixon on lap nine, but Shaw was on a mission. He moved up to challenge Morse on lap twelve, and five laps later he took over the top spot and was never headed.

Shaw dedicated his win to the memory of Alan Tripp, a well known and liked figure in northern New England motorsports who passed away suddenly last week.

Mark Lucas, Tom Oliver and Shaw are locked in a three way battle for the PASS Mod title, and they'll duke it out for the 2008 PASS Mod Championship at Wiscasset (ME) Raceway on Saturday October 4th for The Fall Brawl.

Morse Wins Wild PASS Pluffybilt Sportsman 100

Naples ME - (September 22, 2008) Donnie Morse Jr. looked like he would have a solid top five finish as the laps ran down Sunday in the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Pluffybilt Sportsman 100. But with four laps to go, Morse found himself scooting under the top four and taking over the lead as a four car melee at the front took out the rest of the front runners. Morse then cruised to victory over Russell Morse and Steve Bennett Sr. to score the win in the season-s biggest race for the PASS Sportsman division.

Until that point it looked like Terry Merrill, and Wayne Helliwell Jr. were going to duke it out for the win. The pair had swapped the top spot several times, often twice on the same lap as they battled side by side for the point. But Dan McKeage had raced his way up through the field to third as the laps wound down and was looking to challenge the top two McKeage got his chance to make a run on a lap 96 restart, trying to get under Helliwell on the bottom. The move didn-t work, the pair came together and the end result was a new leader as Mckeage, Helliwell, Merrill and Carey Martin all went spinning.

It was a wild finish to a wild race that was slowed thirteen times by caution flags

PASS Pluffybilt Sportsman regular Richie Morse finished fourth with Douglass Wolfe fifth. Helliwell recoverd for sixth and Reggie Leeman was seventh. Clyde Hennessey, McKeage, and Alan Moeller rounded out the top ten.

Richie Morse now leads Steve Bennett 276-250 in the Sportsman point standings .The PASS Pluffybilt Racing Tractors Sportsman Championship will be determined when the series heads to Groveton New Hampshire's Riverside Speedway for their season finale on Saturday October 11th as a part of Riverside's popular Frost Bite 250 event.

Stancill, Clark Lead PASS National Championship
Challengers to The Ridge

Naples Maine - This week's PASS 400 Weekend at Scarborough Maine's Beech Ridge Motor Speedway will offer up the widest variety of circle track racing anywhere in Maine this year. But for two Pro All Stars Series (PASS) super late model competitors, the big 300 lap go on Sunday September 21st could prove pivotal in their individual quests for the inaugural PASS National Championship.

15-year old John Stancill will be seeing Beech Ridge for the first time, but the National Championship point leader has teamed up with veteran PASS car owner Jay Cushman for PASS 400 Weekend, and Cushman's experience at the The Ridge will make Stancill's learning curve much easier. Stancill hasn't visited victory lane as of yet, but his third and fourth place finishes at Hickory and Orange County in the first two National Championship events give him a two point lead over Cassius Clark in the standings. Like Stancill, Clark has yet to visit PASS victory lane in 2008 but he ran eighth at Hickory and came close at Orange County Speedway, finishing second to Trevor Sanborn in the Orange Blossom Special.

The National Championship Series was designed to give race fans from both regions an opportunity to see the top teams in both series go head to head, and a solid contingent of PASS South racers are planning to make the trip to Beech Ridge. In addition to Stancill, Floridian Perry Brown, Kyle Busch Racing development driver Alex Haase, John Batten and Tennessean Heath Hindman are among those expected to be on hand, as is PASS South point leader Corey Williams.

PASS 400 Weekend actually kicks off on Thursday September 18th with racing for 350s 305s, four cylinders, mini trucks and outlaw trucks. Heat racing gets the green at 5:45 P.M.

Friday is a practice day for all PASS 400 Weekend divisions, from noon until six in the evening. The grandstands will be open to the public free of charge.

The action heats up on Saturday, September 20th with qualifying races for all divisions, including the PASS super late models, PASS Mods and Pluffybilt Racing Tractors Sportsman. Saturday's card will be highlighted by the winged warriors of the Northeastern Midget Association, making their first appearance with the Pro All Stars Series. Plus there are features for the Roadrunners, Wildcats and NEMA Lite open wheelers on tap too.

Then on Sunday September 21st, it's the 300 for the PASS Super Late Models, a 100 lap PASS Pluffybilt Racing Tractors Sportsman feature and 50 laps for the PASS Mod division.

NEMA Takes 900th Race To Maine's Beech Ridge

Scarborough, ME - The Northeastern Midget Association moves on to Maine's Beech Ridge Motor Speedway Saturday to take part in The PASS 400 Weekend at the historic facility. It will be the 20th race at Beech Ridge and 900th feature for the 56 year old club.

Driver Randy Cabral and owner Tim Bertrand will take the point leads into the unique afternoon race. Cabral has a 217-point edge on Joey Payne Jr. while Bertrand leads Bob Santos Jr. by 87 as the season heads into the stretch drive.

Jeremy Frankoski, now a Cabral teammate, will be looking for two straight at Beech Ridge. He beat Aaron Wall and Joey Payne last year in the Power Point #99 car. Jeff Horn (1993) and Payne (2004) are the only other active drivers with wins at "The Ridge."

A five-way battle rages behind Cabral and Payne for the lucrative top-five spots in the final driver standings. Bobby Santos III ( Santos 98), Adam Cantor (Cantor 7ny), Erica Santos (Breault 44), Greg Stoehr (Stoehr) and Frankoski are all involved. All have won or flirted with victory this year.

The third-mile Beech Ridge, one of the premier short tracks in the country, replaces All-Star Speedway on the NEMA schedule. "When things didn't work out at All-Star, Beech Ridge called and asked if NEMA would like to be part of PASS weekend," said club Vice President Tim Bertrand. "It was a great opportunity for us."

Rain last week at Lee pushes up the 900th feature celebration. Beech Ridge has been part of NEMA since 1955 when George Tilton won on the dirt.

NEMA NOTES: Beech Ridge winds up hosting the 13th feature of the year. Nokie Fornoro and Dave Humphrey have each won the 13th race five times. Cabral won the 13th in 2002 and again last year. Santos won it in '03.

Weekend

Naples ME - The fourth annual Pro All Stars Series (PASS) 400 weekend at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway is only two weeks away and series President Tom Mayberry is pleased to announce the addition of the NEMA midgets to Saturday's racing card.

Said Mayberry, "I'm excited that we've been able to add the NEMA midgets to the Saturday September 20th schedule for PASS 400 weekend. It's their first appearance on the same card with the Pro All Stars, and I know they will put on a great show. They'll give our fans yet another reason to make it a racing weekend at Beech Ridge on September 20th and 21st!" .

In addition to the NEMA Midgets and NEMA Lite Series on Saturday, there'll be qualifying races and features for the Road Runners and the Wildcats. The PASS Pluffybilt Racing Tractors Sportsman, PASS Mods, and PASS North Super Late Models will set their respective fields for Sunday's action.

On Sunday September 21st it will be all feature racing; 100 laps for the PASS Sportsman, 50 laps for the PASS Mods and the big one, 300 laps and $10,000.00 to win for the PASS North super late models. Look for a strong contingent of PASS South drivers to make their way to Beech Ridge for round three of the four-race PASS National Championship series. Ayden North Carolina teenager John Stancill leads Mainer Cassius Clark by just two points in the National standings. The entry list already features drivers from North Carolina, Tennessee, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and New Brunswick Canada.

Gates open at 10:00 AM and the first green flag waves at 12:00 sharp on both Saturday and Sunday.

Camping Policies - PASS 400 Weekend - Sept. 18th-21st

hank you for choosing to camp with us at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway for the PASS 400 weekend. The campers who have joined us for the past years event have been very instrumental in making the policies that will be in place again this year. Please read the following guidelines carefully to help make your weekend an enjoyable experience, and to maintain the integrity of the Beech Ridge Motor Speedway grounds and its close residential neighbors.

1. All campers and vehicles on the property must be state registered and licensed. The Cost for the weekend camping will be $40 cash only. Campers will not be permitted on the speedway property until 7:00am Thursday September 18th when the camper registration booth will open. ****ALL TENTS MUST BE ON A SITE WITH A SELF CONTAINED RV.****

2. Upon registration you will receive 2 numbered stickers, 1 for the camper and 1 for a tow vehicle or passenger vehicle that may be parked at the site. Stickers MUST be placed on the campers in the area that faces out whether it is the right front area of the windshield or the right front facing of the camper, they must be clearly visible at all times. Camping spaces will be a maximum of 18 feet wide and tow vehicle, awnings and slide outs should fit into this space. A registration staff member will assist with parking to make sure there is proper spacing and nothing more. No non-stickered vehicles may be left at camp sites at any time or they may be subject to towing by speedway security or Scarborough Police. EMERGENCY ACCESS ROADS MUST BE KEPT CLEAR AT ALL TIMES.

3. Camping at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway is very limited and will be on a first come first serve basis. Please remember that there is no saving spots as all camping sites will be filled as campers arrive. If you want to camp together then please arrive together to avoid any problems.

4. All campers must be parked with hitches facing out and motor homes with the front facing out in cases of emergency as per request of the local Fire Dept.

5. Beech Ridge Motor Speedway does not offer hook-ups or dumping facilities. Please do not allow any dumping of gray water or any leaking of fluids on the grounds. This could result in removal from the property.

6. Camp fires are determined by conditions at the time of the event and will be determined by the local Fire Dept. Small self contained fires are usually permitted unless conditions are deemed unsafe. NO FIRE SHOULD BE LEFT UNATTENDED FOR ANY REASON AT ANY TIME. All fires must be extinguished with water before leaving the area. Only clean wood should be used for fires. Burning of unauthorized materials will result in loss of camping privileges.

7. Pets must remain on a leash at all times. Please clean up after your pet. Pets are not allowed in any racing grounds other than camping and parking lots unless that are an authorized service animal.

8. VIOLATION OF ANY OF THESE RULES OR BEHAVIOR DEEMED TO BE INTERFERING WITH FELLOW GUESTS WILL RESULT IN EJECTION FROM THE PROPERTY FOR THE WEEKEND INCLUDING ATTENDING THE RACING EVENTS. BEECH RIDGE MOTOR SPEEDWAY IS LOCATED IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA AND YOUR HELP IS NEEDED TO MAKE SURE THE INTEGRITY OF THE EVENT REMAINS IN PLACE FOR FUTURE YEARS. DECISIONS ARE AT THE SOLE DISCRETION OF EVENT SECURITY, SCARBOROUGH POLICE, SCARBOROUGH FIRE DEPT, BEECH RIDGE MOTOR SPEEDWAY AND PASS RACING INC.

Any questions or problems may be reported to Dan Walker at 671-4447 at any time.
