Alan Dietz.
"We are really excited that "Live To PASS" will be back on
RaceTalkRadio in 2009," said PASS President Tom Mayberry. "The show
has proven to be an excellent forum for our drivers to talk directly
to our fans and we feel it has been a great way for people to learn
more about the PASS Super Late Models."
"Live to PASS", along with a growing list of other programming, has
made RaceTalkRadio.com the place to be for race fans looking to hear
more about a variety of different motorsports.
"2008 was a great year for RaceTalkRadio.com and "Live To PASS" was
a big part of that," said Dennis Michelsen of RaceTalkRadio.com.
"The show has really garnered a great following and we hope to
continue to expand on that. We have more new shows coming and more
live race coverage in addition to "Live To PASS" that should make
2009 our biggest season yet."

PASS South Awards
Dinner
Slated for March 13th |
CHARLOTTE, NC
(January 8) - Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry
announced today that the PASS South Super Late Model Awards dinner
honoring those who competed with the series in 2008 will be held
Friday night, March 13th at the Kintyre House
in Dillon, SC. The awards dinner will
coincide with the 2009 PASS South season opener the following day at
the Dillon Motor Speedway. Activities will start on Friday,
March 13th with practice for the South Carolina Clash from 3 to 6 PM
at the Dillon Motor Speedway and will then move to the Kintyre House

supports PASS and this is just a small way for us to give something
back to them."

New Engine Combination
Eligible
for PASS South Competition |
Naples ME -
(January 6 2008) Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry
has announced a new engine package that will be eligible for
competition in the PASS South super late model series for the
upcoming season. In 2009, PASS South competitors will have the
option of utilizing "Pro
Cup" spec engines in PASS
South super late models.
According to Mayberry, "Since we started the Pro All Stars in 2001
we've permitted a variety of engine options in an effort to allow
racers to utilize the equipment they have already invested in. This
addition to the PASS South rules gives our super late model teams
access to yet another readily available and affordable engine
option."
"This package has undergone comparison testing and has proven to be
very competitive and will compliment the engine options we currently
permit," stated Mayberry. "With the proper weight assignment to this
package, the inclusion of the "Pro Cup" spec engine will make PASS
South super late model racing a viable option for even more race
teams."

PASS South
Rewind:
Alex Haase Wins Championship |
|
CHARLOTTE, NC
(January 6) - Since the inception of the Pro All Stars Series (PASS)
South Super Late Model division in 2006 the series has seen a varied
group of drivers claim the championship. In 2006, PASS North
veteran Mike Rowe made the long trek down from Maine to compete in
every race that season, winning two races to become the first ever
PASS South champion. Last year, Texas native Ryan Lawler used
experiences gained from his championship battle with Rowe the
previous year to win two races and bring the championship back to
the South. Coming into 2008, most racing minds agreed that the 2008
championship could very well go to Corey Williams. After all, he was
coming off a season that saw him win three PASS South races in just
seven starts. And, at the 2008 PASS South season opener at Hickory
Motor Speedway, Williams dominated the second half of the Easter
Bunny 150 to take his fourth career win. It looked to be a long
season for anybody else hoping to win the title in 2008, but along
the way, somebody forgot to tell Alex Haase.
Haase came to the PASS South Super Late Model division after a long
tenure of racing on the West Coast. Wins in the Bandoleros and
Legends Car division led to races and wins driving Super Late Models
at The Bullring at Las Vegas and at the Irwindale Speedway in
California. It was his Legends Car racing, though, that led to
Haase's opportunity with NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Busch
"His dad and my dad worked at a Ford dealership in Las Vegas years
and years ago," said Busch of his relationship with the Haase
family. "Alex started racing Bandoleros and I sort of helped him
out and was talking to him about maybe doing more. I was looking
for something that was a good series to put him [Haase] in and
something that he could go after a points championship with and get
some recognition out of and that's why we decided to go with PASS."
Coming into the 2008 season, Haase
had little PASS South experience to fall back on having attempted
only one race and failing to qualify for that one (the 2006
Mason-Dixon Meltdown at South Boston Speedway). Being a virtual
rookie with PASS South in 2008, the results showed in Haase's first
two starts. Haase finished 21st at Hickory after being involved in
a couple of accidents and followed that up with an eighth place
finish at the Watermelon Capital Speedway in Georgia. From there,
Haase began to find his stride. Haase finished third at the Motor
Mile Speedway despite an incident with Trevor Sanborn that sent him
to the rear of the field and followed that up with a sixth place
finish in his first trip to Orange County Speedway.
Entering the summer months, Haase was fully entrenched as a
championship contender along with Williams. In June, the PASS South
Super Late Models made their first trip to the tight quarter-mile
Wake County Speedway just outside of Raleigh, NC. The race looked
to be a duel between former Wake County Speedway champion Alex
Fleming and Williams, who was used to racing on this type of track
from his days back in Maine. Surely enough, Fleming led the early
laps before fading back, handing the lead to Williams. All the
while, Haase was methodically making his way up from the middle of
the field. Near the halfway point, Haase would take the lead from
Williams and never looked back to take his first PASS South victory
in the Capital City Clash.
From there, PASS South teams and drivers headed to the legendary
Greenville-Pickens Speedway for the Firecracker 125. In front of a
packed house, Haase looked to gain points on Williams after Williams
had to start in the back after a problem in qualifying. At the drop
of the green flag, Justin Wakefield established himself as the
driver to beat opening up a straightaway lead over Haase. While
this was going on, Williams wowed the crowd by passing cars on the
extreme outside groove of the flat half mile track. Wakefield would
be eliminated in a crash on a late race restart leaving Williams and
Haase to duel it out for the win. Despite being the stronger of the
two cars on long runs, Williams did not have enough laps on the
green-white-checker restart and Haase would go on to score his
second straight victory.
The middle of the year would see Haase and all of the championship
contenders struggle. Haase was eliminated in an early crash at
Orange County's Southern Sizzler and would finish 24th. At Dillon,
Haase suffered a flat tire while leading forcing him to pit under
green which resulted in a ninth place finish. Haase came back from
a spin at Caraway to finish second and at Newport another flat tire
resulted in a disappointing tenth place finish.
Coming back to Greenville-Pickens
for the Howler 150, the championship battle was down to a three man
fight between Williams, Haase, and Perry Brown. The weekend started
badly for Haase after he lost an engine in practice and had to
qualify his back-up car with very little practice in it. In
qualifying, Haase was barely able to crack the top 20. The early
stages of the race would be dominated by Greenville regulars Toby
Porter and Randy Porter. Williams' championship hopes took a
nosedive when he had to retire his car due to a mechanical issue.
Meanwhile, Haase had been slowly making his way to the front to
challenge new front runners Adam Bates and Jeff Fultz. The three
drivers waged war over the final 15 laps with Haase nearly losing
control down the back straightaway. Haase managed to take the lead
and hold on for his third win of the 2008 season. Haase's win
coupled with Williams' problem allowed Haase to take the points lead
heading into the final race at South Boston.
Early on in the Mason Dixon Meltdown at South Boston, Haase and
Williams had strong runs going behind race leader and PASS North
champion Johnny Clark. Haase made a charge on Clark prior to the
halfway mark, but a mechanical problem heading into turn one sent
Haase's Toyota hard into the outside wall. Despite a setback that
could have cost him the championship, Haase's Kyle Busch Foundation
crew worked hard to get their car repaired for the second half of
the race. The hard work paid off when Williams' championship hopes
were dashed due to a crash just past the halfway break. Haase
soldiered on to finish 12th and would win the 2008 PASS South
championship by 16 points over Williams.
Haase looks to defend his title in 2009, but it will be a tall order
indeed with many new teams coming to PASS next year and many
existing teams upgrading their equipment for the new season. On
behalf of everyone with PASS, we wish you a Happy and Safe New Year
and look forward to seeing all of you in 2009!
Although the 2008 season is over, it won't be long before the 2009
season begins. The 2009 PASS South schedule was recently released
and will begin on Saturday, March 14, 2009, with the Fourth Annual
South Carolina Clash at the Dillon Motor Speedway in Dillon, SC. |

2008 PASS South Rewind:
New Places -
New Faces |
CHARLOTTE, NC (December 24) There are many things that need to
fall into place in order for a series to grow. In addition to
garnering fan support, you have to have places to race and drivers
that want to race. In each of the first two seasons of the Pro All
Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model division, the schedule
was comprised of eight races each season. Through a process of
trial-and-error, some tracks have proved to be better venues than
others for the 600 horsepower monsters that compete in PASS South.
The 2008 season will go down as a time when it was time to grow and
expand. The PASS South schedule was expanded to 12 races. Of those
12 races, six were contested at tracks that PASS South had never
competed on. Expanding on the theme of growth, numerous drivers came
to PASS South either on a part-time or full-time basis that had
never raced with the nations top short track series.
PASS Souths new and expanded era began, ironically enough, at the
venue that has hosted more events than any other, the Hickory Motor
Speedway. Drivers like John Fleming and Shaun Turple made the long
tow from Canada. Bill Elliott development driver Mitch Cobb made his
first start. And, short track legend Butch Miller made his first
foray in to PASS South racing. The biggest surprise, though, came
from a very unlikely source. John Stancill was a familiar name to
fans of Legends car racing in the Carolinas. After a successful
stint in Legends, Stancill moved up to the Pro Challenge division
where more success followed. Coming into Hickory, the 15-year-old
driver had never made a start in any type of full-bodied stock car,
let alone a PASS South Super Late Model. Stancill started a very
unassuming 26^th after advancing to the Easter Bunny 150 through the
consolation race. Thats where Stancills anonymity ended. Once the
green flag dropped, Stancill made a steady charge to the front
racing with the likes of Ben Rowe, Ryan Lawler, and Corey Williams
for the lead. Stancill eventually finished third and was now on
everybodys racing radar. At the end of the 2008 season, Stancill
managed to score two more top five finishes and just missed out on
winning the first ever PASS National Championship to Cassius Clark.
The second race of the season saw PASS making its deepest trek South
by racing at the Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, GA.
Floridas Perry Brown began racing with PASS at the end of the 2007
season and had made the decision during the off season to race for
the 2008 championship. At Watermelon Capital, Brown dominated to
score his first career PASS South win over Georgia veterans Bubba
Pollard and Ryan Seig, as well as NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver
David Ragan. Brown continued to be one of the most consistent
drivers on the circuit and would finish third in the final point
standings.
Race number three was at yet another new venue and would see another
first time winner. Motor Mile Speedway is a beautiful facility
nestled in the hills of southern Virginia and was primed for some
PASS South Super Late Model racing. When the green flag dropped, a
great field of drivers looked to bring the Mom 150 trophy back home
as a Mothers Day present. Alex Haase and Trevor Sanborn waged a war
early on for the lead, but an incident between the two took them out
of contention for the win. Enter Zach Stroupe, who took advantage of
their misfortune, to become the youngest winner in PASS racing at 15
years of age.
Along with the Hickory Motor Speedway, Orange County Speedway has
been a mainstay on the PASS South schedule. But, it was a new winner
that Orange County will be remembered for in 2008. Trevor Sanborn
has long been considered a talent on the rise since he first started
competing in the PASS North Series. However, with plenty of second
and third place finishes to show for himself, the wins seemed to
elude Sanborn. In 2008, Sanborn teamed with the Richard Moody Racing
team on a part-time basis as a teammate to four-time PASS North
champion Ben Rowe. In the Orange Blossom Special at Orange County in
June, Sanborn electrified the crowd by holding off Jason Hogan in a
back and forth battle to the checkered flag. In July, Sanborn was
back at Orange County for the Southern Sizzler, the second of four
PASS National races. Sanborn dominated this time to win the 200
lapper and take the $10,000 winners share back to Maine.
Next up, was PASS Souths first visit to the Wake County Speedway in
Raleigh, NC. This would also mark the first time that many of the
PASS South competitors had ever raced a Super Late Model on a
quarter-mile speedway. That combination did not worry PASS South
points leader Corey Williams who was used to racing this type of
track in his native Maine. Somebody forgot to tell Alex Haase,
though, that Williams was the favorite. Haase battled from the back
of the pack to pass Williams late in the Capital City Clash for his
first win of the 2008 season. The win also marked the first for Kyle
Busch Motorsports and for Toyota in PASS. Haase came back in the
Firecracker 125 at the Greenville-Pickens Speedway to win his second
straight race and signal his competitors that he would be a
contender for the 2008 championship.
As the months of August and September rolled around, three new
venues in three different states were on the slate for PASS South.
First up, was the South Carolina Clash at the Dillon Motor Speedway.
Justin Wakefield held off all his competitors to take his first PASS
South win on a Sunday afternoon that saw temperatures soar to
upwards of 100 degrees. Next, it was off the Caraway Speedway in
Asheboro, NC, for the Piedmont Pride Classic. Despite the race being
dominated by Mark Gibson, Wakefield pounced after Gibson and Haase
had problems to take his second straight PASS South win. In
September, PASS South headed to the Volunteer State of Tennessee for
the first time. The Daniel Boone Classic would be contested on the
ultra high banked Newport Speedway. In qualifying, Tennessee native
Heath Hindman blistered the track with a lap of just over
12-seconds. Hindman looked to have the car to beat, but was
eliminated in a crash with Williams. The race would come down to an
unlikely battle between USAR Hooters Pro Cup veteran Jay Fogleman
and Bobby East, subbing for PASS South regular Brandon Johnson.
Fogleman barely held off East to win in just his second PASS South
start in what he called the most fun racing Ive done in years.
The 2008 PASS South championship would be decided at the Mason Dixon
Meltdown at South Boston Speedway in Virginia between Haase,
Williams, and Brown. While those drivers raced for the championship,
2008 PASS North champion Johnny Clark would go on to dominate for
his first PASS South triumph. The win at South Boston capped off a
phenomenal season for Clark that saw him win three of Passs four
big money races. Despite a wreck that took him out of contention
for the win, Haase held on to win the PASS South Super Late Model
title. Haases championship wrapped up a season that will be
remembered as a season of growth for the PASS South Super Late
Models. And that growth will continue in 2009 with new tracks and
many new faces expected to try and make their own share of history
next year.
Although the 2008 season is over, it wont be long before the 2009
season begins. The 2009 PASS South season will begin on Saturday,
March 14, 2009, with the Fourth Annual South Carolina Clash at the
Dillon Motor Speedway in Dillon, SC. |

2008 PASS South Rewind:
Hard Luck Drivers |
CHARLOTTE, NC (December 9) Obviously we when look back at the 2008
season for the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Models,
we look back at what were the high points: Alex Haases three wins
and the championship, Justin Wakefield winning two straight, PASS
North regular Trevor Sanborns sweep at Orange County, and John
Stancill challenging for the National championship in his rookie
season. But, this week, we look back at 2008s
hard luck drivers. Drivers that helped make
the 2008 PASS South season a success just by being there.
At the same time, challenging for the championship and wins,
while not quite being able to get there.
First up is
Raleigh,
North Carolinas, Alex
Fleming. Alex came into the 2008 season
pumped for his first full year competing in PASS South.
And why not? Fleming dominated the
previous year at the Wake County Speedway, his hometown track, to
become the 2007 track champion. It seemed at
each and every race Fleming was among the fastest in practice, but
more times than not, fell out early due to engine problems or a
crash. His dedication was never in question,
though. Often times, Alex traveled to each race
with only his dad, David, there to help. In
April, Alex competed in a local show at
Wake County
on Friday night, and then drove all night, deep into
Georgia to race with PASS at the
Watermelon Capital Speedway. Alex even managed
to lead some laps there before being taken out in an accident when
Zach Stroup spun. It wasnt until August that
Fleming was able to finish a race and when he did, he did it in
style, by finishing second in the South Carolina Clash at Dillon.
At seasons end, Fleming and his family owned team learned a
lot and were able to finish sixth in PASS South points and lead 57
laps during the season.
Next, we look at Signal
Mountain, Tennessees
Heath Hindman.
Heath broke into PASS South in a big way in 2007 as an unlikely
candidate to challenge Ryan Lawler for the championship.
Not because people thought he couldnt do it, but because a
lot of folks didnt know about him. It didnt
take long, though, as Hindman was a consistent challenger week in
and week out, eventually scoring his first PASS South win in the
Over the Mountain 150 at the Hickory Motor Speedway.
Hindman would go on to finish the 2007 season fourth in
points after a crash in the season finale at
Concord took him out early.
This year, Hindman was not about to creep up on the competition.
Everyone in PASS South was well aware of the soft spoken
mountain man. Hindman started the season off
strong finishing fifth at
Hickory and scoring three top fives in the
first five races. Among those top fives was a
third place finish at Wake County Speedway where Hindman appeared to
have the fastest car in the waning laps of the race.
This is where Hindmans luck began to sour.
At many of the following races, Hindman paced practice only
to be stricken by a myriad of problems. At the
Southern Sizzler at
Orange County,
Hindman fell out early after being taken out in an accident with
Preston Peltier and Alex Haase. At Dillon,
Hindman again paced practice and had his car set up for a Saturday
night race. What happened?
The race was rained out and ran on a sweltering hot Sunday
afternoon. Despite struggling with an ill
handling car, Hindman managed a sixth place finish.
At Caraway, fastest again in practice, but out early with a
mechanical problem. And, then theres the Daniel
Boone Classic at Newport Speedway in Hindmans home state of
Tennessee. Arguably, it
was the greatest disappointment of the year for Hindman and his
team. Heath blistered the track in qualifying
with a sub-13 second lap and the fastest time of the session.
In the race, the only person to pass him was Alex Haase on a
restart. Eventually, Hindman dropped back to
fourth after a dust up on another restart and would end the night on
a wrecker after a hard crash with Corey Williams.
Hindman closed out the 2008 season finishing fifth in points
with three top fives, two pole awards, and having led 72 laps.
Finally, we look at the 2007 PASS South Most Popular Driver,
Winston-Salem, North Carolinas,
Mark Gibson. Mark
came to PASS South with a lot to live up to. His
dad, G.W., was a former Daytona winner in the now defunct NASCAR
Dash Series. His owner, Jeff Day, has owned
winning Super Late Models for years with drivers such as the late
John Paul Linville. The learning curve for Mark
has been steep making the leap from Legends cars to PASS South in
2007. But, Mark proved hes got what it takes
finishing sixth in PASS South points in his debut season.
The 2008 PASS South campaign started slowly for Gibson and
the Yarborough Transfer team as they did not score a top five finish
until finishing fourth at Wake County Speedway in June.
In the next three races, Mark finished fourth at
Greenville-Pickens, 13th at
Orange County,
and seventh at Dillon. Then came the Piedmont
Pride 125 at the Caraway Speedway. Mark
dominated leading 99 of the first 100 laps.
After losing the lead to Alex Haase on a late race restart, Gibson
caught Haase and made contact with him sending Haase into a spin.
Despite being penalized by PASS South officials for rough
driving, Gibson still managed a fourth place finish.
The rest of the year would be a struggle for Gibson, losing
an engine in practice a Newport,
struggling to a 15th place finish at The Howler 150 at
Greenville-Pickens, and then falling out early due to an accident at
South Boston. Nonetheless, Gibson
had his best career PASS South points finish coming home fourth in
the final standings with three top fives.
Hopefully for these drivers its like the old saying says, You have
to crawl before you walk. If that proves to be
he case, these drivers might leave their troubles behind and make a
run towards the 2009 PASS South Super Late Model championship.
Although the 2008 season is over, it wont be long before the 2009
season begins. The 2009 PASS South schedule was
recently released and will begin on Saturday, March 14, 2009, with
the Fourth Annual South Carolina Clash at the Dillon Motor Speedway
in Dillon,
SC. The 2009 PASS North
Super Late Model schedule is nearing completion and will be released
in the coming weeks. |

2009
PASS South
Super Late Model
Schedule Released |
Naples ME (
November 15 2008) Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President
Tom Mayberry has announced a fourteen race 2009 schedule for the
PASS South Super Late Models.
2009 PASS SOUTH SCHEDULE HERE
Im pleased to have an exciting 2009 schedule already in place for
PASS South, said Mayberry, and Im looking forward to our fourth
year of bringing the fastest full fendered short track racing to
speedways throughout the south.
The season will kick off March 14th with a return to Dillon (SC)
Motor Speedway for the South Carolina Clash, and then its off to
Hickory (NC) Motor Speedway on April 11th for the fourth annual
Easter Bunny.
On April 25th the traveling pros take on Asheboro North Carolinas
Caraway Speedway for the Piedmont Pride Classic. Wake County
Speedways tight quarter mile will once again host the Capital City
Clash on May 8th.
New on the schedule is Coastal Plains Raceway, a fast 4/10 mile
tri-oval that will see their first PASS Super Late Model showdown on
May 30. The track is just outside Jacksonville, North Carolina. June
20 is reserved for an event to be announced.
July 3rd sees the Pro All Stars return to Greenville-Pickens (SC)
Speedway for the Firecracker 125, followed two days later by the
Independence 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway on July 5th. The ultra
fast Newport (TN) Speedway is back on the card July 18th for the
second annual Daniel Boone Classic.
Orange County Speedway will heat up with PASS Super Late Model
action on August 8th when the Southern Sizzler returns to the
immaculate Rougemont North Carolina speed plant. Hickory is a
favorite for fans and racers alike, and the PASS stars and cars will
make their third and final appearance of 2009 on August 29. A
September 26th race date is still under negotiation.
The Mason-Dixon Meltdown will return to South Boston (VA) Speedway
on October 17th, and the 2009 PASS South Champion will be crowned
one week later at Greenville-Pickens Speedway at The Howler on
October 24th.
Well have more information on all of the PASS 2009 schedules in
the coming weeks, but we wanted to assure our competitors and fans
that we will be back stronger than ever in 2009. PASS South has
continued to grow and we will continue to build PASS as the fastest
Super Late Model racing series in the eastern United States, said
Mayberry. |

Johnny Clarks Second
Half Charge Leads to
Third PASS North Super Late Model title |
If you had to hang a title on
Johnny Clarks run to the 2008 Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North
Championship, it might be a tale of two seasons. The Farmingdale
Maine race car driver didnt start his 2008 campaign with a great
deal of flourish, but his team came on strong in the second half of
the season to capture their third PASS Super Late Model
Championship.
His early season results were mixed at best. He finished thirteenth
in the PASS North season opener at Maines Beech Ridge Motor
Speedway, but rebounded with a victory at Wiscasset Raceway. But
after Wiscasset, the results werent there. A ninth at White
Mountain, sixteenth back at Wiscasset, a tenth place run at Beech
Ridge. Solid runs to be sure, but not up to par for a race team that
has two PASS super late model titles and thirteen race wins to their
credit. To be a title contender in the ultra competitive PASS North,
top fives are the key and you need them in each and every race.
Clark didnt score another top three until July at Thompson (CT)
Speedway, and he was mired back in the point standings. But, Clark
is quick to point to that Thompson race as a turning point in his
season. The family-focused team never gave up. With a new race car
that the crew painstakingly assembled over the off season and a
set-up that made that car run like it was on rails, Clark turned on
the jets. He claimed his second win of 2008 two weeks later at
Groveton NHs Riverside Speedway, and dominated the action at
All-Star Speedway before a flat tire set him back to fourth at the
finish. Still, he recovered from what could have been a disastrous
result and scored solid points, and it looked like the season might
be turning around for the Clarks Car Crushing team.
He contended for the Atlantic Cat 250 win in Nova Scotia but had to
settle for seventh at the checkered flag. Clark got back to his
winning ways at Wiscasset in August, rebounding for a $30,000.00
payday in the Toyota Tundra 250 followed by a second place run at
White Mountain and a $10,000.00 win at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in
the PASS 300.
It all came down to the Fall Brawl at Johnnys home track, Wiscasset
Raceway. When the checkers flew Clark had a fifth place finish,
beating four time series champ Ben Rowe by five spots to secure the
2008 PASS super late model title by ten points. On his way to the
crown Clark scored the most series wins (4) and led the most laps
(469). He raced home in the top five eight times, with eleven top
tens.
Clark put an exclamation point on a super 2008 season by dominating
the PASS South 250 lap feature at the Mason-Dixon 500 at Virginias
South Boston Speedway, collecting yet another $10,000.00 payday
along with his first PASS South victory. |

Johnny Clark
wins Mason-Dixon Alex Haase is PASS South Champion
Johnny Clark turned in a dominate performance
Saturday night at Virginias South
Boston Speedway to win the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South
250 lap season finale. It was the 2008 PASS North
champions first win in the South series and
Clarks fourth checkered flag in his last eight
PASS super late model starts.
Clark
beat Jeff Fultz to the line by a margin of 2.223 seconds.
Cassius Clark raced home third with Trevor Sanborn in
the fourth spot and Randy Porter fifth. DJ Shaw, Kelly
Moore, Ryan Blaney, Lonnie Sommerville and Corey Williams
finished sixth through tenth. The top
eight finished on the lead lap.
Alex Haase s Kyle Busch Foundation Toyota
looked like a super late model cutaway
car after 250 laps, but the eighteen year olds twelfth
place finish was enough to clinch the PASS South super late
model Championship for the Las Vegas Nevada native that now
calls North Carolina home. Haase earned
three race wins, six top five and nine top ten finishes in
twelve PASS South starts on his way to the title.
Haase topped Johnny Clark by nine-one
thousandths of a second to capture the RC2 Race City Race
Cars Pole Award.
Although the 2008 Pro All Stars season is now
concluded, you can keep up with the latest banquet news,

Alex Haase drove under Justin Wakefield in the
closing laps of Saturdays Pro All Stars Series
(PASS) Howler 150 super late model feature at
Greenville-Pickens Speedway to capture his third
PASS victory of 2008 in his #51 Kyle Busch
Foundation Toyota Camry.Haase edged out Warner New
Hampshires Adam Bates and Goldsboro North
Carolinas Jeff Fultz for the victory. Trey Mitchell
and Toby Porter rounded out the top five. Haase
swept both PASS South events at Greenville-Pickens
in 2008.
Toby Porter led the way in time trials with a lap of
20.207 seconds, besting Justin Wakefield (20.276)
and John Wes Townley (20.284) for the RC2 Race City
Race Cars Pole award. Canadian Lonnie Summerville
won the last chance qualifier over Mark Gibson and
Clete Caywood.
Cassius Clark pulled the number one spot in the top
ten redraw to start the race from the pole. Clark
and his fellow PASS National Championship contender
John Stancill got together on lap 90, ending
Clarks night. Although Stancill
continued on for an eighth place finish, Clarks
finishes in the first three National Championship
rounds were enough to top Stancill for the inaugural
PASS National title.
Haases win, coupled with a 22nd
place finish by Corey Williams unofficially
puts Haase on top of the PASS South standings as the
series heads into its final events of 2008.
The fastest full fendered racers
in the east will travel to Virginias South Boston
Speedway on Friday and Saturday October 24 and 25
for the Mason-Dixon 500, a short
track spectacular that will feature twin 250 lap
features for the PASS Super Late Models and NASCAR
Late Model Stock Cars. Each

winner.

Tractors Sportsman Series Championship on Saturday October
11th at Groveton NHs
Riverside Speedway . The
Waterford
Maine racer currently holds a 26

2008 series. Terry Merrill trails the pair in third at 222
with Shane Tatro fourth at 219. Dan McKeage rounds out the
top five with 199.
Merrill and McKeage account for two series
wins a piece, but Morse has recorded the
most top fives of any Sportsman series
competitor (5) and hes never finished outside the top ten
all season long. Thats the kind of consistency that earns
championships, but Morse will be looking for a race win
Saturday to make his season complete. Series regular
Jonathan Ledger cut his racing teeth at Riverside Speedway
and the home town racer will be looking for his first series
win on his home turf.
The PASS Sportsman 75-lap Championship
feature will share the card with the wildest enduro of the
season, the Frostbite 250 for stock four cylinder and six
cylinder cars and mini-trucks. The race carries a guaranteed
$8,250.00 purse with a whopping $5,000.00 to the survivor

PASS
North: Bates Bags the Brawl, Clark Claims Third Championship |
Naples ME (October 5, 2008) PASS
North sophomore Adam Bates raced past Cassius Clark on lap 99 of
Saturday nights Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Ray Haskell Ford Fall
Brawl 150 at Wiscasset Raceway to claim his second PASS North super
late model win of 2008.
Clark raced home second and Travis Benjamin was third, with DJ Shaw
fourth. Johnny Clark completed the top five, and that run coupled
with a tenth place finish for Ben Rowe earned Clark his third Pass
North super late model Championship.
The two title contenders entered the 150 lap feature tied for the
title, and at lap 100 the pair were nose to tail with Clark fifth
and Rowe sixth. But Rowe slipped high in the outside groove on a lap
115 restart and slid back through the field, ending his bid for a
fifth PASS title.
Meanwhile Bates was methodically working his way up from his twelfth
place spot on the starting grid. At the half-way mark he trailed
race leader Travis Benjamin, Cassius Clark and Travis Kittleson in
fourth. Bates turned on the afterburners once he saw the crossed
flags, picking off the front runners one at a time to claim a lead
he would never relinquish.
Bates had a moment with five laps to go, almost throwing away the
victory while working traffic in turn one. But the Warner New
Hampshire hot shoe did a masterful job of saving his race car and
motored on to the victory.
Bill Whorff, Derek Ramstrom, John Fleming, Scott Chubbuck, and Ben
Rowe came home fifth through tenth. Travis Benjamin, Corey Williams
and Johnny Clark each won qualifying races.
Super Rookie DJ Shaw is the 2008 PASS/ Northern Race Tire super
late model Rookie of the Year. Shaw scored two feature wins, five
top fives and nine top tens on his way to the title.
Although the Fall Brawl wrapped up the PASS North season, many teams
will be heading south of the Mason-Dixon to compete with their PASS
South counterparts.
Greenville-Pickens (S.C.) Speedway hosts the PASS South as well as
the fourth and final round of the PASS National Championship Series
on Saturday October 18th; Cassius Clark Leads John Stancill by 15
points in the National standings. Then one week later its the Mason
Dixon 500, the biggest short track doubleheader of the season at
South Boston (VA.) Speedway on October 25th with twin 250 lap
features on tap for the PASS Super Late Models and Late Model Stock
Cars. That race will decide the 2008 PASS South super late model
champion. |

Lucas Claims
Fifth PASS Mod Win, Edges Shaw for Title at Wiscasset
Naples ME (October 5, 2008) The preliminaries were over and the
stage was set for an exciting PASS Mod Championship finale at
Wiscasset (ME) Raceway Saturday. Mark Lucas and Andy Shaw entered
the Pro All Stars Series Mod division feature tied atop the point
standings, and the pair waged a forty lap war for the win and the
title. When the checkers flew Lucas had scored his fifth win of the
ten race 2008 PASS Mod schedule to claim his second series
championship. Shaw came up just two points short in his bid for the
championship, finishing second in the race and in the standings;
Troy Morse, Chubby Howe and Glen Bradbury finished third through
fifth.
Both Lucas and Shaw had to race from the back of the field, and Shaw
got to the front first. He came up to challenge early leader Troy
Morse and took over the race lead on lap sixteen. But by lap
twenty-two Lucas was second to Shaw and ready to challenge. Still,
Shaw looked like he had the edge, keeping the nine behind him on
several restarts until the black 66 suddenly shut down for an
instant, just long enough for Lucas to sneak by on the bottom for
the race lead.
Now it was Shaws turn to give chase, and the pair left the pack
behind to decide the title. The rest of the field was racing like it
was the last feature of 2008 for the series, and the cautions flew
hot and heavy as the race drew to its conclusion. Shaw had three
opportunities to challenge Lucas, with a four to go restart plus two
green/white/checker attempts. But despite Shaws best efforts, Lucas
kept the point and claimed the prize.
Bill Dixon, Ronald Gooden Jr., Tom Oliver,Sulo Burbank and Scott
McDaniels rounded out the top ten. Greg Ellis and Mark Lucas each
won heat races.
The PASS Mods will return to action in 2009 for their sixth season.

Fall Brawl to Determine PASS North SLM & PASS MODS Championships |
The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models and Mods wrap up
their 2008 campaigns At Wiscasset Raceway on Saturday October 4th,
and the battle for their division championships couldnt be much
tighter.
The
PASS North Super Late Models
head for the coastal Maine
oval for the Fall Brawl Weekend presented by Ray Haskell Ford with a
new but familiar name on top of the standings. Johnny Clark takes the overall point
lead to the Fall Brawl by five points with 2,666 over Ben Rowe and
Travis Benjamin who are deadlocked at 2,661 points each. DJ Shaw is
fourth with 2,629 and Adam Bates trails him by one point in fifth at
2,628.
But wait, theres more much more, in fact. PASS
adopted a best twelve points format for the North and South Super
Late Models in 2008, and that formula tightens the standings even
further. If you eliminate the top fives worst two finishes,
the title chase looks like this: Eliminate Clarks two drops (show
points from Speedway 95 on 5/3 and an 18th from
Wiscasset on 6/22) and Rowes two (show and heat points from
Speedway 95 5/3 and a 22nd at Beech Ridge on 7/5), and
Rowe comes out on top heading to the Fall
Brawl by three points! Thats 2379
for Rowe and 2376 for Clark. Travis
Benjamin at, 2,356, drops his Speedway 95
show and heat points and a twelfth place run at Wiscasset on 8/17
and trails Rowe and Clark by 23 and 20, respectively. Adam Bates is
fourth with drops at Speedway 95 and a 23rd at All-Star.
Hes nine back from Benjamin with 2,347. D.J.
Shaw rounds out the top five, with
Bangor show
points and an 11th place finish at several events to
drop, 23 markers behind Bates at 2324.
To gain Championship points at Wiscasset, these drivers will have to
better their drop race finish. Rowe has a slight edge in that
department with a 22nd to throw away, versus an 18th
for Clark. Thats a difference of
eight points, but odds are good that the pair wont be racing back
in the pack; theyll be charging for the win and the points will
take care of themselves.
The
PASS MODS
point battle is a little easier to follow, but just as close at the
top. Andy Shaw fought his way back to victory lane at Beech Ridge on
PASS 400 Weekend, and the win couldnt have come at a better time.
Shaws win put him on top of the standings by
one point over Mark Lucas, and Tom Oliver is just three back from
Shaw. The trio will go for broke in a 40 lap shootout at the
Fall Brawl.
350s, 305s and Stock Fours will complete Saturdays card; PASS 400
weekend rules apply for these divisions, contact Scott Reed at
207-625-3230 with tech questions. The action
goes green at 4:00 PM on Saturday October 4th. The PASS
150 is scheduled to start at approximately 6:15 PM.
SUNDAY - "NATIONALS DAY"
Then on Sunday the Fall Brawl presented by Ray
Haskell Ford continues with Nationals Day; the 100 lap ,
$10,000.00 to win Super Street/Sportsman Nationals, 100 lap
$3,000.00 to win Street Stock Nationals, $1,000.00 to win 50
lap Real Stock Mini Stock Nationals and a
$500.00 to win, 50 lap Mini Truck Nationals. Sundays racing kicks
off at 2:00 PM. Get all the details for Sundays activities at

Johnny Clark Cashes In at Beech Ridge |
Naples ME - (September 21,2008) Johnny Clark won two races at Beech
Ridge Motor Speedway Sunday afternoon. The first was off pit road
when he beat the field back to the speedway on lap 258, and the
second came when the checkered flag flew on lap 295 of the
rain-shortened PASS 300. Clark led the final 42 laps toclaim the
$10,000.00 victory over Adam Bates and Kelly Moore in a race that
was short on cautions (six), with plenty of long
green flag runs and battles for position throughout the thirty-five
car field on every lap.
Trevor Sanborn had the field covered for most of the day, leading
225 laps in the seasons longest PASS event. But his race car didnt
have the edge it once had after pitting for tires and fuel. Sanborn
had to settle for fourth followed by Cassius Clark in fifth. Travis
Benjamin, DJ Shaw, Ben Rowe, John Stancill and Scott Mulkern
completed the top ten. The top eight finished on the lead lap.
The win was Clarks fourth PASS
North victory of 2008, drawing him closer to the top of the
championship point standings and a shot at his third PASS North
title. PASS instituted a best 12 format for the 2008 points chase
so the standings will experience a shake up after the PASS 300, race
number thirteen of the fourteen race schedule.
The PASS 300 was one of four races awarding PASS National
Championship points, and Cassius Clark has taken the unofficial lead
in those standings with his fifth place finish. John Stancill led
Clark by two markers prior to the 300; Stancill ran up front for
much of the day but a miscue exiting pit road cost the young
North Carolina racer a lap late in the race.
That series will come down to the Howler at Greenville-Pickens
Speedway on Saturday October 18th. Expect Clark and
Stancill to make the trip to Greenville
South Carolina
to battle it out for the title. Clark is
the defending race winner
The PASS North super late model and Mod series championship
contenders will wage an on-track war for their respective 2008
series championships on Saturday October 4th at Wiscasset
(ME) Raceway. |

Shaw Shines in PASS
400 Weekend Mod Feature |
NAPLES ME (September 22, 2008) The
PASS Mods added extra distance for Sundays PASS 400 weekend feature
at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, and Andy Shaw returned to victory
lane for the first time since the PASS Mod opener at the Scarborough
Maine oval. Shaw claimed the lead on lap seventeen and dominated the
remaining thirty three laps for the convincing win. Troy Morse raced
home second, with PASS Mod newcomer Glen Bradbury third, Rod Henry
fourth and Tom Oliver fifth.
Greg Ellis and Scott McDaniel brought the field down to the green,
and Ellis grabbed the early lead. McDaniel slid up the speedway and
fell back through the field, while Bill Dixon ad Ronald Gooden raced
up to second and third. Dixon took the lead away from Ellis one lap
later and Troy Morse charged past Gooden on lap three for second.
By lap six Shaw was up to fourth from his ninth place starting
position, methodically working his way to the front. Morse took his
turn at the point, passing Dixon on lap nine, but Shaw was on a
mission. He moved up to challenge Morse on lap twelve, and five laps
later he took over the top spot and was never headed.
Shaw dedicated his win to the memory of Alan Tripp, a well known and
liked figure in northern New England motorsports who passed away
suddenly last week.
Mark Lucas, Tom Oliver and Shaw are locked in a three way battle for
the PASS Mod title, and theyll duke it out for the 2008 PASS Mod
Championship at Wiscasset (ME) Raceway on Saturday October 4th for
The Fall Brawl.

Morse Wins Wild PASS Pluffybilt Sportsman 100 at 400 |
Naples ME
(September 22, 2008) Donnie Morse Jr. looked like he would have a
solid top five finish as the laps ran down Sunday in the Pro All
Stars Series (PASS) Pluffybilt Sportsman 100 . But with four laps to
go, Morse found himself scooting under the top four and taking over
the lead as a four car melee at the front took out the rest of the
front runners. Morse then cruised to victory over Russell Morse and
Steve Bennett Sr. to score the win in the seasons biggest race for
the PASS Sportsman division.
Until that point it looked like Terry Merrill, and Wayne Helliwell
Jr. were going to duke it out for the win. The pair had swapped the
top spot several times, often twice on the same lap as they battled
side by side for the point. But Dan McKeage had raced his way up
through the field to third as the laps wound down and was looking to
challenge the top two McKeage got his chance to make a run on a lap
96 restart, trying to get under Helliwell on the bottom. The move
didnt work, the pair came together and the end result was a new
leader as Mckeage, Helliwell, Merrill and Carey Martin all went
spinning.
It was a wild finish to a
wild race that was slowed thirteen times by caution flags
PASS Pluffybilt Sportsman regular Richie Morse finished fourth with
Douglass Wolfe fifth. Helliwell recoverd for sixth and Reggie Leeman was
seventh. Clyde Hennessey, McKeage, and Alan Moeller rounded out the
top ten.
Richie Morse now leads Steve Bennett 276-250 in the Sportsman point
standings .The PASS Pluffybilt Racing Tractors Sportsman
Championship will be determined when the series heads to Groveton
New Hampshires Riverside Speedway for their season finale on
Saturday October 11th as a part of Riversides popular Frost Bite
250 event. |

Over The
Mountain 150
Postponed
due to Weather, Gas Shortage
CHARLOTTE, NC (September 25) Pro All Stars Series
(PASS) President Tom Mayberry and Hickory Motor Speedway promoter Sherry
Clifton agreed Thursday to postpone Saturday nights PASS South Super Late
Model event due to weather concerns and a gas shortage in western North
Carolina. The possibility of rescheduling the Over The
Mountain 150 is being looked upon, but a date has yet to be announced.
Weather
forecasters have increased the chance of precipitation in the
Hickory, N.C. to 60 percent on
Saturday because of a low pressure system situated off the coast of
North Carolina.
Circumstances have been further complicated in part due to a severe
gas shortage in western North
Carolina. North Carolina
Governor Mike Easley announced late Wednesday that relief is coming to the
area, but it is unclear how much gas can be freed up from the
Tennessee and
Spartanburg, S.C.
terminals because those areas are experiencing gas supply shortages as well.
We
would like to thank Sherry Clifton and everybody involved in their
understanding during this tough situation, said Mayberry.
But, you need gas to travel and you need gas to race, and with the
weather situation factored in, we didnt feel like it was fair to put our
fans and teams in jeopardy.
PASS
South Super Late Model action returns on Saturday, October 18thth
for the 2nd Annual Howler 150 at the Greenville-Pickens Speedway.
The Howler will be the final race of the PASS National Series.

RC2 Race City Race Cars
to Sponsor
PASS South Pole Award |
CHARLOTTE, NC
(September 22) Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry
announced today that RC2 Race City Race Cars will be the presenting
sponsor of the pole award for the four remaining races of the 2008
PASS South Super Late Model season. PASS South Super Late Model
qualifying will now be known as RC2 Pole Award Qualifying. The fast
qualifier at each of the last four events will receive $100 as long
as they have an RC2 contingency sticker on their race car. The RC2
Pole Award will go to the fast qualifier regardless of where he
lines up following PASS Souths traditional redraw for the top 10
qualifiers.
Were really glad to have a sponsor like RC2 Race City Race Cars
step up and give something back to our drivers who go fast in
qualifying, said Mayberry. RC2 is a brand new company and it means
a lot to us for Jack [Dudkiewicz] and David [Null] to believe in the
PASS South Super Late Models and want to be a part of what were
doing.
RC2 Race City Race Cars is owned by Jack Dudkiewicz and David Null
and is located in Mooresville, NC. RC2 Race City Race Cars is a race
car service company that specializes in fabrication, chassis repair,
setups, and maintenance, building pit boxes and tire carts and
hanging bodies. RC2 also specializes in roll centers, bump steer,
squaring, and soft spring and shock technology. RC2 hopes to return
as sponsor of the pole award in 2009 and is trying to put together a
house car to race full time with PASS South next season.
The PASS South series is something we really wanted to be a part of
when we started RC2 because Super Late Models are cool and what we
like to work on, said Jack Dudkiewicz, co-owner of RC2 Race City
Race Cars. Becoming the sponsor of the RC2 Pole Award is exactly
what we wanted to do because we want to make cars go fast. In our
business, we want to be able to help that guy out whose running 8th
or 12th and make him a top five car or better. This is a perfect fit

DJ Shaw
Wins
PASS WMMP
DJ Equipment 150 |
Naples ME (
September 14 2008) Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North rookie DJ Shaw
challenged PASS North newcomer Travis Kittleson for 80 laps before
making his move by Kittleson for the lead on lap 120 of Saturday
nights DJ Equipment 150 at White Mountain Motorsports Park. Shaw
then held off Johnny Clark and Ben Rowe on a key lap 134 restart to
secure his second PASS North win of the season in Julio and Rita
Miglioli's Precision JLM Ford. Clark, Rowe, Kittleson and Cassius
Clark chased Shaw to the line in a race that was short on cautions
and long on the kind of hard core short track racing that only super
late models can produce.
Kittleson and Trevor Sanborn led the twenty five car field to the
green, and Sanborn prevailed only to give up the lead to Kittlesons
Cushman Competition Ford on a lap twenty restart. Cassius Clark came
up to run second a few laps later, but it was Shaw who was slicing
his way through the field. By lap 50 he was up to second from
thirteenth on the grid and looking for a way by Kittleson.
With only four cautions to interrupt the action, lapped traffic was
always a factor as the pair clicked off twelve second laps. Shaw
dogged Kittleson lap after lap in one of the best short track
battles of the 2008 PASS season. Late in the race the torrid pace
seemed to take its toll on Kittlesons ride, allowing Shaw to take
away the lead with thirty to go. Johnny Clark and Ben Rowe were able
to follow suit under Kittleson a few laps later, but neither driver
could mount a serious challenge for the win.
Adam Bates, Russ Hersey, Mike Lavoie (in a team car to Shaw), Travis
Benjamin and Trevor Sanborn completed the top ten, all on the lead
lap.
The PASS North and South super late models will collide next
weekend, September 20-21, at Beech Ridge Motor
Speedway in Scarborough Maine for the 4th Annual PASS 400.
The 300 lap super late model feature awards both PASS North and PASS
National Championship points. Saturday card includes qualifying for
all divisions plus features for the roadrunners, wildcats and a
first time PASS appearance by the winged NEMA Midgets. Sunday its
100 laps for the PASS Pluffybilt Sportsman, 50 for the PASS Mods and
300 for the PASS super late models. The first green flag waves at
noon each day.

Johnny Clark Collects
$30,000.00 Plus Payday
in PASS North Toyota Tundra 250 |
NAPLES ME (8/18/08) A perfect mix
of old and new equaled a $30,000.00 payday for Johnny Clark Sunday
night as the Hallowell, Maine Pro All Stars Series (PASS) star took
his Clarks Car Crushing Chevrolet to victory lane in the Toyota
Tundra 250 at Wiscasset (ME) Raceway. Clark recaptured the lead from
then-point man D.J. Shaw and survived a late race rash of yellow
fever for the victory. It was the two time series champions third
win of 2008 and pulls him squarely into contention for a third
title. Clark was behind the wheel of an all new super late model
that his team painstakingly constructed during the off season and
the race car was everything the team hoped for. Clarks first big
super late model win came at Wiscasset at the age of 17, and his
mastery of the fast old Wiscasset high banks has only grown as the
years pass.
PASS South point leader Corey Williams made his return to home turf
a successful one, finishing second after leading over 100 laps early
on. Steve Knowlton ran near the front all day and battled down to
the wire for a third place finish. Scott Chubbuck and Randy Turner
completed the top five.
The five 15 lap heat races were a battle all unto themselves, with
just four cars transferring to the feature from each. Fred Astle Jr.
made a rare PASS North appearance and took the pole position for the
250 by winning heat number one. Steve Knowlton, Scott King and Randy
Turner all earned transfer spots. Atlantic CAT 250 winner Travis
Benjamin continued his winning ways in heat two, with Richie
Dearborn, Chad Dow, and Paul White advancing to the feature. PASS
South point leader Corey Williams made a successful homecoming in
heat three, followed by Trevor Sanborn, Adam Bates and Kelly Moore.
Derek Ramstrom earned the fourth starting position by wining heat
number four, with Wiscasset master Johnny Clark second, Scott
Chubbuck third and home track hero Charlie Colby in the final
transfer spot. Another PASS veteran from seasons past, Chuck
LaChance, took down heat five, with weekly racers Scott Moore and
Ryan Deane second and third. Maine legend Stan The Man Meserve
earned the final heat race transfer.
The next nine qualifiers came from three fifteen lap consolation
rounds, and Mike Rowe earned the win in consi one, along with
journeyman racer Eddie MacDonald and Steve Berry. Alan Tardiff took
down consi number two with Donnie Whitten and John Flemming second
and third. Consi three was D.J. Shaws with Wiscassets own weekly
point leader Big John Phippen second and Joe Decker in the final
qualifying spot.
The 30 lap Last Chance qualifier had its share of talent too;
Cassius Clark, Ted Christopher, and the return of Ben Rowe after a
thrash to get the RMR 4 back in racing shape after his excursion off
turn three in his heat race. Cassius Clark put the nose under Dale
Cullivan for the lead on lap five and led the rest of the way in a
race filled with contact as sixteen drivers battled it out for the
three qualifying spots. When the dust settled it was Cassius Clark,
Gary Smith and Dale Cullivan in the final three transfer spots. Pass
provisionals were awarded to Ben Rowe and Harry Olsen. Wiscasset
Raceway provisionals went to Matt Lee, Richie Morse and T.J. Watson,
who transferred via his win in a Late Model special the night
before. Nova Scotian Marty Prevost received a promoters option for
the longest haul to the Toyota Tundra 250.
When the green flag waved over the thirty eight car field Corey
Williams jumped out to the lead. Williams looked tough in the early
going, and so did Chuck LaChance. The Cushing Maine veteran had his
familiar 38 dialed in and looked like he might challenge Williams
for the point as the race passed the 100 lap mark. LaChance pitted
for tires at lap 108, along with front runners Travis Benjamin,
Scott Chubbuck, D.J. Shaw and Richie Dearborn. Williams and Adam
Bates pitted from the lead and second place for fresh rubber two
laps later, handing the lead to Knowlton. Johnny Clark had raced his
way up to second from thirteenth and he wasted little time taking
the lead on lap 111. By lap 150 Clark had checked out on the field,
but thirty laps later Trevor Sanborn and D.J. Shaw were slowly
reeling him in.
By lap 185 Clarks lead was down to six car lengths and both Trevor
Sanborn and D.J. Shaw were coming. Shaw made his move on Sanborn at
lap 187, and passed Clark for the lead on lap 192. Clark could see
the big win slipping away and his team took action, bringing him to
the pits on lap 198 for fresh rubber. But would there be enough time
for Clark to race his way back to the lead?
The answer was a resounding yes. The last fifty laps could be
considered the Johnny Clark Show, as the veteran sliced and diced
his way through the field, sometimes three wide, to chase down the
front runners. Clark was all the way up to fourth at lap 205; on lap
206 he drove around Adam Bates for third. Knowlton would be his next
victim, taking away the second spot on lap 212. Five laps later he
raced under D.J. Shaw for the lead, surviving four restarts and a
green-white-checker finish to bank $30,000.00 plus yet to be tallied
lap money, and a unique trophy in the form of a stylized race car
steering wheel.
Clarks Margin of victory was 705 hundredths of a second; Travis
Benjamin was the last car on the lead lap in twelfth.
PASS North takes a well earned four week break before heading to
White Mountain Motorsports Park on September 13th for the D-J
Equipment 150.
PASS South has back to back events on tap, the Piedmont Pride 125 at
Caraway Speedway on Saturday August 30th and their first trip to the
Volunteer State on Saturday September 6th for the Daniel Boone
Classic at Newport Speedway.

Lucas
Back in PASS Mod Victory Lane at Wiscasset |
|
NAPLES, ME, AUGUST 17, 2008 -
The Pro All Star Series (PASS) Mods joined in the Toyota Tundra 250
weekend festivities at Wiscasset Raceway with their own 40 lap
showdown, and when the checkered flag dropped Mark Lucas claimed his
fourth PASS Mod victory of the 2008 season..
Greg Ellis jumped out to an early lead over Scott McDaniel ,but the
field would quickly be brought back together after an early caution
when Sammy Gooden, Gary Norris, and Steve Bennett, Jr. all spun in
turn four. Norris took the brunt of the damage, taking a ride over
the top of the turn; he needed a flatbed to make his way back to the
pit area.
Troy Morse lined up outside Ellis on the restart and made a bid for
the lead but couldnt make the move stick and Andy Shaw filled the
hole on the bottom to claim second. second.
Shaw took his shot at the lead on the next restart and took over the
top spot from Ellis, but he now had Lucas glued to his rear bumper.
With five laps to go Lucas proved to be too much for Shaw, grabbing
the lead and the victory. Shaw hung on for second with Tom Oliver
third. Scott Grant made a strong PASS Mod debut with a fourth place
finish, and Ron Henry completed the top five..
The PASS Mods will be back in action September 20- 21 as a part of
the PASS 400 Weekend at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. For more

Merrill, McKeage PASS Pluffybilt Sportsman Winners at Wiscasset |
|
NAPLES, ME (AUGUST 19, 2008) -
The Pro All Star Series (PASS) Pluffybilt Racing Tractors Sportsman
racers were back on track with a vengeance at Wiscasset Raceway
Sunday, with double features on the Toyota Tundra 250 card.
In the first 50 lap feature, Terry Merrill led from green to checker
for his second win of the season. Only two cautions slowed the
field; Merrill was tested on the lap 17 ad 33 restarts but the Saco
speedster prevailed each time. Allan Moeller, Shane Tatro, Richie
Morse and Steve Bennett Sr.crossed the stripe second through fifth.
The field drew for starting positions for the second feature, and
Steve Bennett, Sr. put his 22 out front at the green. Merrills bid
for two wins ended on lap thirty-two after Kyle Hart and Mike Lynch
got together and Merrill and Bill Pinkham were swept up in the
accident. On the restart 2007 Sportsman champion Dan McKeage
snatched the lead away from Bennett and motored away from the field.
As the laps wound down the battles for position heated up. McKeages
lead was beginning to slip away as Bennett Sr. and Mike Landry were
reeling him in. Landry was able to get around Bennett Sr. on lap 70
and began to chase down McKeage. With two to go Landry was on
McKeages right rear quarter panel but that was as close as he would
get. McKeage captured the win and Mike Landry had to settle for
second. Bennett, Sr., Allan Moeller, and Brian Fortin raced home
third through fifth.
Next up on the PASS Pluffybilt Racing Tractors Sportsman schedule is
the PASS 400 weekend, Saturday and Sunday September 20-21 at Beech

South and
Southern National Raceway Park
Have Big Plans
for 2008 and Beyond |
|
CHARLOTTE, NC (July 25,
2008) Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry is proud to
announce a partnership with new Southern National Raceway Park owner Del
Richards that will bring PASS South Super Late Model racing back to Southern
National Raceway Park in Kenly, NC starting on November 29, 2008. The PASS
South Super Late Models will join the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late
Model Stocks for Twin 150s, both paying $5,000 to the winner in Southern
Nationals Annual Thanksgiving Classic. The race will be a non-points event
for the PASS South Super Late Models.
In 2009 PASS South will make three trips to Southern National Raceway Park
with all three events being PASS South point races. PASS South will kick off
the 2009 season on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Southern National Raceway
Park with a 150 lap event paying $5,000 to win and $500 to start. Then, PASS
South will return to Southern National on July 18, 2009, for a big 250 lap
event paying $7,000 to win and $700 to start. This race will be part of the
PASS National Series and should attract Super Late Model drivers from across
the country. Finally, the PASS South Series will crown the 2009 champion

November 28, 2009 for another 150 lap, $5,000 to win event.
Were really excited to be coming back to Southern National Raceway Park in
2008 and 2009, said Mayberry. We had a great race there in 2006 that was
won by Freddy Query and we look forward to bringing Super Late Model racing
back to the fans of Eastern North Carolina who love it so much.
For Richards, getting the PASS South Series back to Southern National was
key upon his purchase of the speedway. Race fans know the great history of
Super Late Model racing at Southern National, said Richard. I really feel
like having PASS on board can bring Southern National back to where it used
to be. Weve got some big plans here and its going to be great to start and

July. I hope this really gets race fans attention and lets them know that

CASH! Big Money Shows Dot Pro All Stars SLM Schedules
NAPLES ME (May 28, 2008) The twenty eight races that make up the two Pro All
Stars Series (PASS) super late model schedules all carry a healthy purse for
the Easts fastest full-fendered race cars, but four dates stand out with
added cash incentives to take that checkered flag first.
The first big one will go green on Saturday July 19th
at Orange County Speedway. The beautiful Rougemont North Carolina
track that bills itself as Americas fastest 3/8th mile will host the
Southern Sizzler 200 and theres a cool ten grand on the line for the
winner. Expect a huge field for this race as The Sizzler is also round two
of the four race PASS National Championship Series. The series kicked off on
March 22nd at Hickory (NC) Motor Speedway with the 3rd annual Easter Bunny
150, where Corey Williams started his season off right with a victory.
And if that isnt enough to get your attention, the winners share of the
purse triples on Sunday August 17th for the PASS North
Toyota Tundra 250 at Maines Center of Speed, Wiscasset Raceway.
Theres a $30,000.00 check waiting for the winner of the big show. Williams
Easter Bunny earned him a guaranteed starting spot for the 250, and hell be
racing just down the road a piece from his home town of Boothbay Maine.
Johnny Clark also has a guaranteed spot from his May 18th win in the Ray
Haskell Ford 125 at Wiscasset.
The PASS 400 Weekend at Beech Ridge Motor
Speedway (Scarborough ME) has become an autumn tradition for race fans from
all over the Northeast. Big car counts, all three PASS North divisions and
non stop racing highlight this multi-day event, and this year the September
21st PASS North Super Late Model feature will also be the third leg in the
chase for the first PASS National Championship. $10,000.00 is on the line
for the race winner, and you can expect a number of PASS South racers to
take the drive up I-95 for this one.
PASS South is back at SoBo in 2008! - The legendary South Boston (VA)
Speedway will host the Mason-Dixon 500 on Saturday
October 25th. The 2008 PASS South super late model champion will be
