The
New England
Supermodified Series
returned to Thompson
Speedway for the
second time in 2024
to crown their
season-long champion
on Sunoco World
Series Saturday.
Ryan Battle led the
way to green but it
was Ben Seitz that
beat the Dunstable
driver back to the
line. Seitz powered
away with the lead
as Battle fell under
attack by open-wheel
legend Russ Wood in
the opening laps.
Wood moved
under Battle for
second with Matt
Swanson following
suit the next time
around but Seitz
held strong to a
half-track lead by
lap 13.
Ben
Seitz took a
dominant victory in
the New England
Supermodified Series
with Russ Wood and
Matt Swanson joining
him in victory lane
as the Series
crowned Bobby
Timmons III the 2024
champion. |

WWMP PR Race Recap:
Mike Mayberry and
Dave Duggan brought
the New England
Supermodified Series
(NESS) showdown to
green in their
50-lap main event on
Bar Harbor Bank &
Trust Fall Foliage
Saturday. Duggan
launched into the
early lead with Matt
Swanson quickly
pulling up to his
rear bumper as
defending champion
Dan Bowes began to
reel them in from a
distant third.
Swanson used the
threat of lap
traffic ahead to
motor into the lead
around Duggan at the
halfway point with
Bowes following
close behind. Matt
Swanson would nail
down the win in the
caution-free,
nine-minute event
with Dan Bowes and
Bobby Timmons
climbing into a
podium finish. |

DAN BOWES THE THUNDER ROAD WINNER |
Jim Storace and Matt Swanson led the
field to green for the NESS
lightning-fast 75-lap affair.
Storace immediately launched to the
lead and used every inch of the
Thunder Road asphalt to keep pace
ahead of Swanson as defending series
champion Dan Bowes kept watch in
third.
The battle for fifth
was the most hotly contested as
point leader Bobby Timmons tried
again and again to round Dave Duggan
before his engine let go in a plume
of white smoke in turn one to call
out the lap 56 caution.
Storace would maintain the restart
lead but the catastrophic failure of
a right rear tire ended his day on
the backstretch.
With
thirteen laps remaining, Bowes got
the best of Russ Wood on the restart
and powered his way to the McGee
Hyundai of Barre Super Friday
victory, joined on the podium by
Matt Swanson in second and Russ Wood
in third.

Bobby
Timmons and Jim
Storace brought the
New England
Supermodified Series
to green for their
30-lap main event.
The heart-stopping
move of the race
would come on lap 4
as Ben Seitz and Dan
Bowes took Storace
three-wide, shooting
off turn two and
down the back
straightaway with
Bowes coming out
with the lead.
Coming from
mid-pack, Jon
McKennedy also
rounded Storace to
take third, made the
long march to take
on Seitz and dove
underneath to take
position on lap 21.
With a straightaway
lead Dan Bowes took
the win just nine
lightning-fast laps
later followed by
McKenney and Seitz
at the line. |

Heat
race winners Bobby
Timmons and Ben
Seitz got the New
England
Supermodified Series
(NESS) off to a
lightning-fast start
to head the Sunday
program with their
50-lap main event.
After Timmons and
Seitz took off with
the lead, the battle
mid-pack became the
ultimate showdown
with a collection of
drivers rounding
Mark ‘Sparky’ McIver
for position.
Hitting the halfway
point in just
four-and-a-half
minutes, Timmons
kept pace around the
field, leaving his
closest competition
a ten-car-lengths
behind. A quick
caution set up a
final nine-lap
battle between
Timmons and
second-place runner
Dan Bowes as Bowes
charged out ahead on
the outside groove.
Dan Bowes would take
the win over Bobby
Timmons and Matt
Swanson with Swanson
taking the fastest
lap of the event at
a blistering
10.548-seconds
around the
highbanks! |

BOWES
TAKES NESS OPENER |
Rob Summers led
the early goings in
the New England
Supermodified Series
(NESS) 50 lap season
opener but
relinquished to a
lightning quick Dave
Duggan on lap 10.
While Duggan won the
battle, defending
champion Dan Bowes
was waging war,
flying by Duggan on
a mid-race restart
and never looking
back. Dan Bowes
started off his
championship defense
with one in the wins
column followed by
Duggan and Russ
Wood. |
