Polewarczyk best in PASS
North 150 at
Thunder Road International
Speedbowl |
Barre, VT - Joey
Polewarczyk, Jr. of Hudson,
New Hampshire came out on
top in a thrilling finish to
Sunday afternoon's Pro All
Stars Series Super Late
Model race at Thunder Road
International Speedbowl.
Polewarczyk, no stranger
to Late Model success on the
high-banked, quarter-mile
oval, dedicated his first
Super Late Model win to the
late Tom Curley, ACT
President and former
co-owner of the Green
Mountain State's premiere
racetrack, who Polewarczyk
called instrumental to the
development of his stock car
racing career.
Lining
up tenth on the starting
grid, Polewarczyk's march to
the front of the field was
delayed by a flat tire and
subsequent pit stop. But the
Granite State competitor was
not to be denied, prevailing
in several battles for
position en route to
Mekkelsen RV victory lane.
20-year-old hotshoe Reid
Lanpher of Manchester, Maine
earned runner-up honors and
unofficially took over the
top spot in Pro All Stars
Series North Super Late
Model competition. Lanpher's
performance was particularly
notable since it was his
first-ever appearance at the
tough, tight racing
facility.
Bobby
Therrien of Hinesburg,
Vermont raced from dead last
on the starting grid to a
third-place finish in an
impressive run also hampered
by an unscheduled pit stop.
DJ Shaw of Center Conway,
New Hampshire, the defending
champion of the T-Road PASS
event, settled for a
fourth-place finish after
being forced to run his
backup car.
Ben Rowe
of Turner, Maine took a
couple of turns pacing the
field early in the
150-lapper, crossing the
finish line in fifth
position. Garrett Hall of
Scarborough, Maine was sixth
under the checkered flag.
Derek Ramstrom was seventh
after leading a spell before
a tire went flat and he was
forced to the pit area.
Derek Griffith of
Hudson, New Hampshire was
the eight-place finisher,
ahead of Turner, Maine's
Glen Luce. Gabe Brown of
Center Conway, New
Hampshire, a 15-year-old
Super Late Model rookie,
salvaged a top-ten finish
despite bouncing off Thunder
Road's famous frontstretch
wall.
The next Pro
All Stars Series Super Late
Model race is scheduled for
Saturday, June 2 at Petty
Speedway in River Glade, New
Brunswick, Canada. The next
United States-based race for
the PASS North Super Late
Models is scheduled for
Father's Day, Sunday, June
17, at Speedway 95 in
Hermon, Maine. For more

PASS Doubleheader Weekend
Begins at Concord and Ends
at Thunder Road |
CHARLOTTE, NC (May
23) - A busy Memorial Day
weekend for short track
racing fans all along the
East Coast is on tap as the
Pro All Stars Series (PASS)
gets set to embark on
another memorable
doubleheader of action.
Southeast race fans will get
a treat on Friday night in
the Old Glory 125 at Concord
Speedway when the Pro All
Stars Series (PASS) South
Super Late Models and
Southern Modified Racing
Series (SMRS) Tour Mods
compete together in a rare
doubleheader. While New
Englanders will get to see
the Northeast's best Super
Late Models tackle the high
banks of Thunder Road Sunday
afternoon in the 56th Annual
Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day
Classic 150.
The
Memorial Day weekend kickoff
will see the two most
powerful asphalt series in
the South compete together
for only the second time
this year on Friday night at
Concord Speedway when PASS
South and the SMRS Tour Mods
hit the half-mile, along
with the MASS Street Stocks
and Challenger cars.
The Southeast's oldest and
most prestigious Super Late
Model tour will be led to
Friday night's Old Glory 125
by Kannapolis, NC teenager,
Matt Craig. Craig leads the
PASS South Super Late Model
points as he seeks an
unprecedented third straight
series title. He began
racing at Concord Speedway's
quarter-mile in Legends
cars. The family-owned C&C
Boilers #54 has a long and
storied history at Concord
Speedway, piloted by drivers
like Rodney Childers, Clay
Rogers, and Jeff Fultz.
Craig comes to Concord this
year full of optimism
following his first at win
there in last year's
North-South Shootout.
"I love racing at
Concord because that track
is so hard that you really
have to race the racetrack,"
says Craig. "I think Friday
night will be a great race
because there is going to be
some tough competition and
that makes for tight
racing."
In Vermont
on Sunday afternoon, PASS
North competitors will
tackle a completely
different animal from
Concord's triangular
half-mile. Thunder Road
International Speedbowl is
almost literally a bowl, a
tight quarter-mile, with
some of the highest banks in
the region. Former
champions, Travis Benjamin
and last year's Thunder Bowl
winner, DJ Shaw, are locked
in a tight battle for the
championship, Reid Lanpher
and Derek Griffith remain in
close contact with the
leaders.
It all gets
under way this weekend on
Thursday afternoon at
Concord Speedway, with
rotating practice from 4 -
7:15 PM. Then on Friday,
rotating practice goes from
1:30 - 4:25 PM, followed by
qualifying at 5 PM, and
features at 7 PM for the
PASS South Super Late
Models, SMRS Tour Modifieds,

Challenger cars. At Thunder
Road, rotating practice
begins Sunday morning at 10
AM, followed by heat races
at 1:30 PM, and features for

Models, Late Models, Flying
Tigers, Street Stocks, and
Road Warriors.

Big
Month of May for PASS
Continues
at
Oxford, Concord, & Thunder
Road |
NAPLES, ME (May 8) -
For racers and fans across
the United States, the month
of May is huge. And it's no
different for the Pro All
Stars Series (PASS), which
will feature the best in
Super Late Model racing
throughout the remainder of
the month.
Following
a hard fought and exciting
race this past Saturday
night at Star Speedway for
the PASS North Super Late
Models which saw Travis
Benjamin take the win over
Reid Lanpher, the series
regulars will get a much
deserved weekend off. But,
PASS North will return to
action on Sunday, May 20 for
their second visit of the
season to Oxford Plains
Speedway for the Honey
Badger Bar & Grill 150.
Waterboro, ME's Curtis Gerry
will look to continue his
dominance of the legendary
oval as his competitors look
for the key to winning as
they prep for August's
$25,000 to win Oxford 250.
So far this season,
there have been three
different winners in the
first four PASS North Super
Late Model events. PASS
young gun Derek Griffith
captured the checkered flag
at Thompson Speedway in the
season opener, while Gerry
took back-to-back wins at
Oxford Plains and Beech
Ridge. With his win last
weekend at Star, former
champions, Benjamin and DJ
Shaw, are locked in a heated
battle for the PASS North
points lead.
As PASS
North looks ahead to Oxford
Plains on May 20, the best
short trackers in the south
are anticipating their next
on track action coming up at
the ultra-fast Concord
Speedway in North Carolina.
Memorial Day weekend is
always big in the Charlotte
area and will kickoff in
earnest on Friday night, May
25 with a big night of
racing at Concord Speedway,
headlined by the PASS South
Super Late Models and
Southern Modified Racing
Series (SMRS) Tour-type
Modifieds, along with the
popular MASS Street Stocks
and Challenger cars.
Two-time defending PASS
South champion, Matt Craig,
has a 34-point lead over
surprising challenger,
Canadian JP Josiasse.
Championship contenders,
Kodie Conner, Tate Fogleman,
Roy Hayes, and Jeff Batten
are all looking to make up
ground on Craig, while Jared
Irvan, Gracie Trotter, Chad
McCumbee, and Corey Heim
will look to challenge for
the win. Additionally, PASS
South drivers will be very
visible in Charlotte over
the week with several
appearing on Thursday
afternoon for autographs at
Speed Street and on local TV
leading up to the race.
And, if that's not
enough, the PASS North Super
Late Models will conclude
Memorial Day weekend on
Sunday, May 27 at the
Thunder Road International
Speedbowl in Vermont, along
with Thunder Road's ACT Late
Models, as part of the
Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day
Classic.
It all
begins with practice on
Saturday, May 19 at Oxford
Plains Speedway. Then, on
Sunday, May 20 practice will
begin at 10 AM and heat
races slated to begin at 2
PM.
The following
week, action will begin on
Thursday, May 24 at Concord
Speedway with rotating
practice for all divisions.
On Friday, May 25,
qualifying begins at 5 PM,
followed by features for the
PASS South Super Late
Models, SMRS Tour-Modifieds,
MASS Street Stocks, and
Challengers set to start at
7 PM.
