Reid Lanpher best in PASS
Super Late Model action
at Oxford Plains Speedway
Ben Tinker is PASS MODS
Champion
|
Oxford, Maine - Reid
Lanpher of Manchester, Maine
nailed down his second Pro
All Stars Series North Super
Late Model victory of the
season Sunday afternoon at
Oxford Plains Speedway.
Lanpher, who started
11th, needed nearly the
entire race to chase down
six-time PASS North champion
Johnny Clark of Farmingdale,
Maine and take the race
lead. Clark, who led the
first 138 circuits in the
150-lap race, managed to
hang on to second place
after dominating most of the
rain-delayed event.
The championship battle
remained tight atop the PASS
North points standings, with
reigning series champion and
2018 leader DJ Shaw of
Center Conway, New Hampshire
just one spot better than
his closest championship
rival, Travis Benjamin of
Morrill, Maine, another
former series champion.
Ryan Robbins of
Dixfield, Maine, a two-time
OPS Super Late Model winner
this year, raced with the
leaders throughout the
150-lapper and finished
fifth. Maine racers Joey
Doiron of Berwick, Ben Rowe
of Turner, Billy Rodgers of
Old Orchard Beach, Mike Rowe
of Turner and Rusty Poland
of Windhamrounded out the
top ten.
Kate Re of
Lovell, Maine led
wire-to-wire and won her
first-ever PASS Mods main
event.
Re, 14, held
off a determined Gary
Shackford to earn her trip
to victory lane. Shackford
finished second and came up
eight points shy of his
first Mods championship. The
Center Conway, New Hampshire
driver was a Street Stock
champion at Oxford Plains
Speedway about 15 years
before winner Re was born.
Matty Sanborn of Windham
followed up an impressive
heat race victory with a
third-place finish.
Freeport's Jariet Harrison
pieced together a ride and
claimed a fourth-place
finish in front of
Waterford's Spencer Morse.
Ben Tinker of New
Gloucester wrapped up his
second consecutive PASS Mods
championship with a
sixth-place finish in a car
usually driven by Patrick
Sullivan. Tinker's car was
destroyed in a vicious crash
a couple of weeks previously
which ended the season for a
couple of other competitors.
The champion expressed a
desire to move up into the
Super Late Model ranks next
season.
The Pro All
Stars Series Super Late
Models have a National
Championship event scheduled
for Richmond Raceway in
Virginia this Saturday
(October 20). The PASS North
Super Late Models wrap up
their championship season on
Saturday, October 27 at
Seekonk Speedway in Seekonk,
Massachusetts. |

NOTICE
FOR PASS
OPTIONAL
PRACTICE FOR OPS THIS
WEEKEND
|
After many inquiries
on practice for this weekend
on Friday, we have decided
to add an
OPTIONAL practice.
This practice will be held
Friday from 3:30 pm until
dark. We want to emphasize
this practice is
OPTIONAL
and everyone (Super Late
Models, PASS Mods and Street
Stocks) are welcome. We feel
this may be beneficial to
some of the teams who do not
race with the tour on a
regular basis. There will be
approximately 3 rounds of
rotating practice for the
Super Late Models, PASS Mods
and Street Stocks.
Please note: the Northern
Race Tire truck will
NOT
be there Friday. They will
be there Saturday morning.
We also want to be sure
that all teams understand
that there will be ample
parking on Saturday for all
divisions so it is not
necessary for teams to come
practice on Friday to secure
parking. |
Busy
Weekend Set For Oxford
Plains
Begins With PASS North &
PASS Mods |
NAPLES, ME (October
9) - With another change of
season upon us, so it is for
the Pro All Stars Series
(PASS) North Super Late
Models and PASS Modifieds
this Saturday afternoon at
Oxford Plains Speedway. It
is part of an even bigger
weekend at Oxford Plains
that will see the Oxford
Acceleration Series,
Armageddon Of Destruction,
and an 80 car,
pumpkin-dodging Enduro on
Sunday afternoon.
While the PASS Modifieds
will settle their season on
Saturday, the championship
fight for New England's most
prominent Super Late Models
has come down to three
serious contenders. While
former champion, Ben Rowe,
along with Garrett Hall,
both have mathematical shots
at the title, without a
major shakeup, it's down to
former champions, DJ Shaw or
Travis Benjamin, and Derek
Griffith.
After
stumbling at Beech Ridge,
Shaw bounced back with a
podium finish at Thunder
Road to take a 26 point led
over Benjamin and stretch
his advantage to 99 over
Griffith. But, with a big
field of cars expected at
Oxford Plains once again, an
early problem for the
leaders could rearrange the
standings, or even bring
Hall and Rowe back into play
heading into the PASS North
Championship Finale at
Seekonk on October 27.
In addition to the
championship combatants,
former Oxford 250 winners,
Curtis Gerry and Mike Rowe,
will all be among the
favorites to challenge for
the win on Saturday
afternoon at Oxford Plains.
Former 6-Time PASS North
champion, Johnny Clark, will
be in the field, along with
PASS North regulars Reid
Lanpher and Tracy Gordon.
Scott McDaniel looks to
build on a strong run in the
Oxford 250 and will be
joined by Maine speedsters
Scott Moore, Calvin Rose,
Jr., Alan Tardiff, Mike
Hopkins, Ryan Robbins, Tim
and TJ Brackett, Adam
Polvinen, Bryce Mains, Shawn
Martin and New Hampshire's,
Dan Winter.
All the
action gets under way on
Saturday afternoon at Oxford
Plains Speedway with gates
opening at 9 AM, practice
from 11 AM to 1:30 PM, and
racing for the PASS North
Super Late Models, PASS
Modifieds, Street Stocks,
and Bandits beginning at 2
PM.
Entry forms for
upcoming races at Oxford
Plains and Seekonk, along
with the inaugural PASS
Commonwealth Classic, can be
found at
ProAllStarsSeries.com.
The Pro All Stars Series
is recognized as North
America's premier
sanctioning body for asphalt
Super Late Models and boasts
such marquee events as the
legendary Oxford 250 at
Oxford Plains Speedway, PASS
South's Easter Bunny 150 at
the historic Hickory Motor
Speedway, and the PASS
Commonwealth Classic at
Richmond Raceway.
