Doiron Fights Back From 3 Laps Down For PASS Winter Meltdown Win
At Greenville-Pickens
EASLEY, SC (February 6) - Defending Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Model national champion Joey Doiron stormed back from three laps down to take the lead from Derek Ramstrom with 25 laps to go and led the rest of the way to take the win in the PASS Winter Meltdown 150 Saturday afternoon at Greenville-Pickens Speedway. The win matches his Winter Meltdown triumph at Florida's Auburndale Speedway in 2013. It was also his second straight PASS Super Late Model win at Greenville-Pickens Speedway.

"I almost parked it on the pace laps because the clutch was slipping and wouldn't work," said Doiron afterwards. "We took the green and I was wide open and couldn't even keep up. We lost three laps and I figured we would go until lap 50 and if I could keep up, we would keep racing. Fortunately enough we got the laps back. Nobody can say I didn't pass the most cars."

In qualifying, Preston Peltier set a new track record for PASS at the legendary half-mile speedway with a lap of 90.923 miles per hour. Following the top 10 qualifiers redraw, Peltier would slot in to the sixth starting position, while Roger Lee Newton and Tyler Church would move up to the front row.

At the drop of the green flag, Newton jumped into the lead over Church and Matt Craig. The first caution flag of the afternoon would wave on lap four when rookie Kodie Conner spun in turn one and collected RS Senter and JP Josiasse. Back under green, Mike Hopkins would take the lead from Newton before being bypassed for the top spot by Michael Faulk on nine.

The car on the move early on was Jeremy Davis, who started in 13th. Davis moved by Jay Fogleman for fifth on lap 24 and, just four laps later, passed Faulk for the lead. The biggest incident of the day would occur on lap 38 when Trey Jarrell and Jeff Batten made hard contact on the back straightaway collecting Jimmy Doyle, Matt Matheson, and Conner. Thanks to the early cautions, Doiron was able to recover from losing three laps with clutch problems and get back on the lead lap for the next restart.

Texas youngster Derek Scott, Jr. would take a turn up front when he moved by Davis for the lead. Davis would continue to slide back as both Peltier and Derek Ramstrom moved by to take second and third. Following a caution for a spin into the turn three wall by Matheson, Peltier was able to work to the low side of Scott to take the lead on lap 53. All the while, Doiron was marching his way to the front, moving around Faulk and into the top 10 on lap 57.

The lead would continue to change hands as Mike Hopkins passed Peltier on lap 60 and was then passed himself by Scott just nine laps later. Just past halfway, Doiron was up to fifth and challenging the leaders. Following a spin by Dabbs in turn two on lap 77, Ramstrom regained the lead as he moved by Scott. But Doiron was on a charge, moving into second and eventually passing Ramstrom for the lead on lap 94.

With 47 laps to go, a competition caution would wave to allow teams to change two tires and refuel. On the restart, Ramstrom moved back by Doiron to take the lead. But it would be short lived as Doiron would go back up front with 25 laps to go. Ramstrom began to struggle with the handle of his machine losing two more spots to Peltier and Hopkins. With less than 15 laps to go, Hopkins bypassed Peltier to take second place.

Following a spin by John-Michael Shenette with seven laps to go, Hopkins began a spirited charge to take the lead from Doiron. Despite drawing alongside on a couple of occasions, Hopkins would have to settle for second as Doiron captured his second career PASS South Super Late Model victory. Peltier, Ramstrom, and Davis would complete the top five. Rounding out the top ten were Matt Craig, Ben Rowe, Randy Gentry, Conner, and Jay Fogleman.

The PASS South Super Late Models will be in action once again for 150 laps as part of the 11th Annual South Carolina Clash on Saturday, March 5th at Dillon Motor Speedway. Jay Fogleman To Begin PASS
National Championship Run
At Greenville-Pickens
CHARLOTTE, NC (February 2) - Two-time Pro All Stars Series (PASS) National Champion, Jay Fogleman, will make his return to the driver's seat for this Saturday afternoon's PASS Winter Meltdown at Greenville-Pickens Speedway. Fogleman will pilot an entry for the Woodman Racing team as he prepares to compete for the PASS National Championship in 2016. This weekend's 150 lapper will mark the first time Fogleman has sat behind the wheel in competition since making his lone start last year at Kingsport Speedway. The 2013 PASS South Super Late Model Champion will join his son and defending series champion, Tate, in the first major points event of 2016 in asphalt short track racing.

"The plan originally was to get Tate comfortable enough to race on his own and, as last year proved, he can handle himself just fine," said Fogleman. "It's just time and I've always had a plan to go back racing. I'm just going to run the National races, ease back into it, and still have time to concentrate on him [Tate]. If something comes up where he can drive for somebody else, then I'll keep running my stuff and just run whenever I can."

While Fogleman has not been behind the wheel much over the last three seasons, his passion for the sport remains strong. And the driver from Durham, NC is not only excited to get back behind the wheel at Greenville-Pickens Speedway this weekend, where he won a PASS South event at in 2009, but to travel north and compete one again in the Oxford 250.

"I've always ran tour races since, I guess, '89 and it's just the type of racing I like to do," says Fogleman. "I like to go up north and race Mike and Ben Rowe and all those guys and I've got a lot of friends up there. Going to different race tracks and different places is where I've kind of excelled at and that's really the biggest reason I like doing it."

But Fogleman will not be the only driver focused on making a strong showing for the PASS National Championship. Being on Super Bowl weekend, the PASS Winter Meltdown will be short track racing's first major points event of 2016 and will also feature a 100 lap event for the South East Limited Late Models (Non-Winners), a 75 lapper for the Southeast Supertrucks, both paying $3,000 to win, and a 40 lap event for the Mini Stocks paying $2,000 to the winner.

A new batch of entries has come in for what looks to be one of the most star studded field of drivers in recent memory. Eldora Truck Series winner, Christopher Bell, will be making his first start of 2016 for Kyle Busch Motorsports. The open wheel racing driver's catapult up the ranks of stock car racing began with his PASS South win at Rougemont, NC in 2014.

Zachary Dabbs is making the move up from the PASS Pro Late Model division as he looks to make his first PASS Super Late Model start this weekend at Greenville. Kyle Desouza will make the trip from Massachusetts and plans to compete for the PASS South title in 2016. A strong group of drivers will be joining him from New England including Kaz Grala, Mike Hopkins, Derek Ramstrom, John-Michael Shenette and former PASS National Champions, Joey Doiron and Ben Rowe. Matt Matheson will make the tow down from New Brunswick following a strong showing in the PASS National Championship in 2013.

Local favorite Randy Gentry returns after nearly winning at Greenville-Pickens to start the season in 2014. Tyler Church, a native of Hickory, NC, went to victory lane once last year at Dillon Motor Speedway, but is hoping to compete much more in 2016 and possibly challenge for a second PASS South championship. Brennan Poole, a former Late Model Stock touring champion and current Xfinity Series driver, will be making his PASS Super Late Model debut with the Fathead Driver Development Program. Virginia's Trey Jarrell will be back for the Winter Meltdown after several near misses last year that saw him come close to victory lane.

Northwest short track legend Garrett Evans will pilot the famous #64 in the PASS Winter Meltdown. The Washington state driver will compete in several PASS events throughout the season, with an eye towards possible competing for the PASS National Championship. Texas youngster Derek Scott, Jr. will make his first trip to Greenville-Pickens Speedway for the Winter Meltdown. Scott competed in three PASS South events last year, including the Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway, where he was the fastest qualifier and led the most laps. Michigan driver Vinnie Miller returns in 2016 after several impressive runs late last year. Miller has already announced his intention to compete on the full schedule as he races for the PASS South Super Late Model championship this year.

Kodie Conner from Kannapolis moves up to the PASS South Super Late Model division full-time in 2016 after taking the PASS Pro Late Model title last year. Matt Craig, another teenaged driver from Kannapolis, looks to build on a strong finish to the 2015 season in the C&C Boilers machine which saw him finish fourth in points. Veteran Jimmy Doyle of Hendersonville finished fifth in PASS South points in 2015 and will be seeking his first career win. And, North Carolina's Jeff Batten has filed an entry for the Meltdown, following a career best sixth place finish in the final PASS South Super Late Model standings last year.

Action gets underway at Greenville-Pickens Speedway on Friday, February 5th with gates opening at 9 AM and rotating practice for the PASS Super Late Models, Southeast Limited Late Models, Southeast Supertrucks, and Mini Stocks from 11 AM - 5 PM. On Saturday, February 6th, gates will open at 8 AM, with rotating practice from 10 AM - 12:05 PM, qualifying at 12:30 PM, and feature events set to go green at 2 PM.

Big Names Look To Heat Up Greenville-Pickens Speedway
At PASS Winter Meltdown 150
CHARLOTTE, NC (January 29) - Just a week away from the start of practice for the 3rd running of the Winter Meltdown at Greenville-Pickens Speedway, some of the biggest names in short track racing are hoping to etch their names in the record books at the legendary speedway. The Meltdown will serve as the first major points event in asphalt short track racing this year and will kick off the season for the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) National Championship Series as well as the PASS South Super Late Models.

Turner, ME's, Ben Rowe, a former three-time PASS National champion and the 2009 PASS South Super Late Model titlist, knows the importance of starting a season off strong. Rowe captured the checkered flag at nearby Anderson Motor Speedway last March and is excited to leave the cold confines of New England to head south.

"I guarantee Greenville will be warmer than where I'm coming from, but it's fun for us to come down and get out of the weather and get the race team back in the swing of things," says Rowe, driver of the Richard Moody & Sons Construction #4 Toyota. "Greenville's fun, we had a good run there last fall and finished third. We're going to bring a different engine package this time and see what happens. Greenville is a great race track. It's big, it's worn out, and it puts on some great racing."

For Rowe and a strong contingent of teams coming from New England and Canada which includes former Meltdown winner Joey Doiron, as well as Mike Hopkins, Matt Matheson, Derek Ramstrom, and John-Michael Shenette, the PASS South Super Late Model schedule sets up perfectly. The PASS South Super Late Models will compete four times - at Greenville-Pickens Speedway, Dillon Motor Speedway, Concord Speedway, and Hickory Motor Speedway - before the PASS North Super Late Model season opener at Thompson Speedway goes green in April.

"We've been bouncing a lot of guys around the last few years and these South races help us to get our cars going," says Rowe. "Dean Clattenburg has built us a couple of good cars and we've just got to get a couple of good guys around to get them going the way I like them. Now with the PASS National deal, you can't afford to have a bad race so it's big to get off to a good start."

Another of the most recent entrants for the 150 lap event includes 2014 PASS South Super Late Model champion, Tyler Church. Church, a native of Hickory, NC, went to victory lane once last year at Dillon Motor Speedway, but is hoping to compete much more in 2016 and possibly challenge for a second PASS South championship. Brennan Poole, a former Late Model Stock touring champion and current Xfinity Series driver, will be making his PASS Super Late Model debut with the Fathead Driver Development Program. The Fathead team recently won the North-South Shootout at Concord Speedway with David Garbo, Jr. and will have PASS veteran Trevor Noles behind the wheel when the series goes to Dillon Motor Speedway in March.

A strong group of contenders from North Carolina have also pre-entered, including two former PASS champions. Tate Fogleman from Durham claimed his first PASS South Super Late Model championship in 2015 and hopes to become the first driver in series history to repeat. Fellow teenager Kodie Conner from Kannapolis moves up to the PASS South Super Late Model division full-time in 2016 after taking the PASS Pro Late Model title last year.

The PASS Winter Meltdown 150 lapper will go green on Saturday afternoon, February 6 at 2 PM and will serve as the first race of 2016 for the PASS South Super Late Models and the PASS National Championship Series.

Shenette To Start 2016 Season With Slate
of PASS National & Northern Races
THOMPSON, CT (December 28) - With the Mason-Dixon Meltdown in the history books, Dynasty Motorsports is solely focused on competing in 2016.

"Our only goal for this year is seat time," said team owner and driver John-Michael Shenette. "With seat time come's consistency, and with consistency comes success. We have the car and the resources to compete in the Pro All Stars Series, now it's time to put our effort to good use and show results."

In addition to the Karting 2 Conquer Cancer Go-Kart event in January, Dynasty Motorsports has also submitted an application for the Winter Meltdown at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in South Carolina. The race is the first Pro All Stars Series National and South event of the year, and will be held on February 6th.

"I was pretty disappointed after battling battery issues at Hickory in November, but was able to regain confidence after medical issues, and also got some great seat time," says Shenette. We're ready to battle hard at Greenville, a flat track with long straightaways that I hope drives like Devil's Bowl in Vermont. I love flat race tracks and feel that we'll put together a solid effort through qualifying and the race."

Following the Winter Meltdown at Greenville, Shenette and the Dynasty Motorsports team plan to compete in the next two PASS National Championship Series events, the 11th Annual Easter Bunny 150 on March 26 at Hickory Motor Speedway in North Carolina and at their hometrack, the Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park for the Icebreaker. Shenette also plans to compete in the PASS North Super Late Model events in April at Oxford Plains Speedway and Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, both in Maine.
