Setzer Holds Off
All Comers To Take
2nd
Career PASS South Win At
Dillon |
DILLON, SC (March 5)
- Brandon Setzer survived a
hard fought battle for the
lead with Jody Measamer and
Kodie Conner to claim his
second career Pro All Stars
Series (PASS) South Super
Late Model victory in the
11th Annual South Carolina
Clash Saturday afternoon at
Dillon Motor Speedway.
"Our car was just so
tight and have to just
apologize to Jody Measamer,
he was holding me down and I
had to hit the gas to get it
turn and I got into him,"
said Setzer of contact that
sent Measmer around late in
the race. "We weren't that
good early today and my guys
made some great adjustments
to get the car better. We've
got some great momentum
going into our next PASS
race at Hickory and a win
there gets you locked into
the Oxford 250, so how sweet
would that be?"
In
qualifying, Setzer claimed
the quick time with a lap of
89.552 miles per hour around
the tough 4/10 mile,
egg-shaped speedway.
Setzer's good fortune
continued during the top 10
qualifiers redraw as he
would draw pill number one
to start alongside rookie
Kodie Conner for the 125 lap
event.
At the drop of
the green flag, Setzer would
quickly jump into the lead,
while Measamer moved around
Conner to settle into the
second position. The race
went green for the entire
first half, until Derek
Scott, Jr. went hard into
the outside wall on lap 73.
Following the restart,
Setzer and Measamer raced
hard for the lead, with
Measamer inching out ahead
at the start/finish line. As
the two continued to battle
for the lead, Setzer got
loose exiting turn four and
would make contact with
Measamer, sending Measamer's
Chevrolet around.
Following Measamer's
problems, Conner would
assume the challenge against
Setzer. Like Measamer,
Conner had success against
Setzer on the outside, but
Setzer was able to get the
better of Conner with an
aggressive move in turn four
to hold on to the lead.
Setzer would lead the
rest of the way to take the
win over Conner, Jared
Irvan, Tate Fogleman, and
Trevor Noles. Rounding out
the top ten were Matt Craig,
Measamer, Raphael Lessard,
Jeff Batten, and Jody
Lavender.
Chad
McCumbee scored the Late
Model win over Bobby Gower
and Jeff Melton, while
Michael Rouse claimed the
Pro 4 Cylinder win.
The PASS South Super Late
Models will be in action
once again for 125 laps as
part of the inaugural
Southern Sizzler on
Saturday, March 19th at
Concord Speedway, along with
a 150 lapper for the NASCAR
Whelen Southern Modified
Tour.

Fresh Faces
Looking For PASS South
Success At Dillon This
Weekend |
CHARLOTTE, NC (March
2) - As race number two for
the Pro All Stars Series
(PASS) South Super Late
Models approaches at Dillon
Motor Speedway, a fresh new
group of young talent
anxiously awaits to hit the
track this weekend. Several
drivers new to the series
hope to follow in the
footsteps of such names as
Blaney, Hemric, Theriault,
Peltier, and Rowe as winners
of the South Carolina Clash
at Dillon.
One of
those drivers is Spokane,
WA's Nicole Behar. The
18-year-old transplanted
West Coast speedster will
make her PASS South Super
Late Model debut, along with
her David Gilliland Racing
teammate Raphel Lessard, at
this weekend's South
Carolina Clash. Following a
year which saw her finish
10th in K&N Pro Series West
points and score the highest
finish by a female in that
series with a second place
finish at Irwindale
Speedway, Behar is excited
to move east and shift her
focus back to Super Late
Model racing.
"Racing
on the East Coast opens up
more doors for opportunities
and, with a much longer
racing season, it offers up
a lot more seat time and
that's the main focus for
2016," says Behar. "I have
raced and will continue to
race Super Late Models in
the Northwest as my schedule
allows. Super Late Models
have been some of my best
and most favorite type of
racing."
Behar got a
taste of PASS South Super
Late Model racing recently
when she attended the Winter
Meltdown at
Greenville-Pickens Speedway
in support of Pacific
Northwest racing legend,
Garrett Evans. While Behar
is new to PASS South, she
hopes to adapt quickly to
Dillon's tough egg-shaped
layout when cars take to the
track for the first time for
practice on Friday
afternoon.
"I am
really looking forward to
racing at Dillon Motor
Speedway this weekend," said
Behar. "I hope to take to
the track quickly and to
come home with a solid
finish in my Toyota Racing
Camry. It will also be a
great chance to learn and
bond with my DGR team."
Behar will not be alone
however in trying to learn
Dillon Motor Speedway in the
hopes of scoring a win in
Saturday afternoon's 125
lapper. New Mexico's Tanner
Gray will be making his
first PASS South start,
while Kyle Desouza,
Christian Eckes, Riley
Herbst, JP Josiasse, Vinnie
Miller, and Derek Scott, Jr.
will all be making their
first starts at Dillon. Even
PASS North veteran winner
Kelly Moore will be making
the trip from Maine for his
first race at Dillon.
Those "rookies" will be
joined by defending South
Carolina Clash winner Tyler
Church and 2015 PASS South
Super Late Model champion,
Tate Fogleman, who led 82
laps at Dillon last year.
Gus Dean nearly won at
Dillon in 2014 and returns
for the first time this
season along with local
standout Hayes Goodson and
2015 PASS South winner Jared
Irvan. Rookie Kodie Conner
comes to Dillon for the
first time in a Super Late
Model and will be joined by
veterans Jeff Batten, Matt
Craig, Jimmy Doyle and Jody
Measamer.
All the
action gets under way on
Friday, March 4 at Dillon
Motor Speedway with open
practice for all competing
divisions from 3 - 6:05 PM.
On Saturday, March 5,
practice will begin at 12
Noon with qualifying
starting at 3:30 PM for the
PASS South Super Late
Models, DMS Late Models, and
Pro 4-Cylinders, followed by
main events starting at
approximately 5 PM with the
11th Annual South Carolina
Clash.
PASS South
Super Late Model entry forms
for the upcoming events at
Dillon, Concord, and Hickory
can be found at
ProAllStarsSeries.com. Entry
forms are also available for
the 43rd Annual Oxford 250
at Oxford Plains Speedway,
which will once again pay
$25,000 to the winner plus
additional lap leader
bonuses.
The Pro All
Stars Series is recognized
as North America's premier
sanctioning body for asphalt
Super Late Models and boasts
such marquee events as the
legendary Oxford 250 at
Oxford Plains Speedway and
PASS South's Easter Bunny
150 at the historic Hickory
Motor Speedway.

HAYES GOODSON

PASS South
Rookies Offer Differing
Opinions On How To Handle
Dillon |
CHARLOTTE, NC
(February 25) - Short track
racers from across the
Southeast are busy building
and testing their machines
as they prepare for the
upcoming South Carolina
Clash for the Pro All Stars
Series (PASS) South Super
Late Models at Dillon Motor
Speedway on Saturday, March
5. The 4/10 mile, egg-shaped
speedway in South Carolina's
Pee Dee region has long been
one of the toughest tracks
on the PASS South schedule
and this year's 125 lapper
looks to be an equally tough
task.
Darlington,
SC's Hayes Goodson is the
third generation from his
family to race at Dillon
Motor Speedway. His
grandfather, Howard, raced
and won on the original dirt
track back in the 1960's,
while his father, Hal, has
been a consistent winner in
the Truck and Late Model
divisions at Dillon
throughout the 2000's.
Goodson is excited for the
opportunity to step back
behind the wheel of the #16,
reminiscent of the machines
his father campaigned in the
1990's, but knows it will
not be easy.
"Dillon
can be very tricky to get
around," said Goodson,
driver of the
Florence-Darlington
Technical College/AAR entry.
"Turns 1 and 2 differ from
turns 3 and 4 a great deal.
It's easy to overcharge the
corner or pick the gas up
too early. Dillon also has
very tight straightaways,
which tends to cause
problems exiting the corner.
Without much leeway between
the walls, a single car spin
can quickly turn into a
multi-car pileup.
Kannapolis, NC's Kodie
Conner is making the jump in
2016 from the Pro Late Model
division, where he won the
championship last year, to
racing full-time in PASS
South Super Late Models.
Despite a top 10 finish in
the season opener at
Greenville-Pickens, the
learning curve is steep and
it's made even tougher when
racing at quirky speedways
like Dillon.
"Going
from a Pro Late Model to a
PASS Super Late Model has
been a big step in my
driving career," says
Conner, driver of the Jerry
Conner Insurance #45 Toyota.
"At Greenville, it took me a
few laps to adapt to the car
on the track. Dillon is not
my best track and it will
take a practice or two to
get used to the car again.
My team and I have been
working hard to be able to
make it to victory lane.
This season my goal is to
get a win and finish top 5
in points. I will stop at
nothing to reach my goal."
This year's 11th Annual
South Carolina Clash will be
125 laps, which is 25 laps
shorter than in years past.
Goodson recently tested at
Dillon and believes the
shorter race will put more
of an emphasis on
qualifying.
"The PASS
race at Dillon is always a
good show so we'll try to
secure a decent starting
position, find a place in
line, keep the fenders and
nose on all 125 laps, and
hopefully find ourselves
battling near the front at
the end," said Goodson.
Goodson and Conner will
not only have to deal with a
tough race track, but also
by another stellar field of
racers led by defending PASS
South Super Late Model
champion Tate Fogleman, who
led 82 laps there last year,
and defending South Carolina
Clash winner Tyler Church.
Veterans Jeff Batten and
Jimmy Doyle will be joined
by PASS South rookies Kyle
Desouza and Derek Scott, Jr.
at Dillon. Washington
state's Nicole Behar will
make her first PASS South
start, along with teammate
Raphael Lessard from Quebec.
Fellow Canadian JP Josiasse
will also be making the trek
from Ontario for his first
start at Dillon Motor
Speedway.
All the
action gets under way on
Friday, March 4 at Dillon
Motor Speedway with open
practice for all competing
divisions from 3 - 6:05 PM.
On Saturday, March 5,
practice will begin at 12
Noon with qualifying
starting at 3:30 PM for the
PASS South Super Late
Models, DMS Late Models, and
Pro 4-Cylinders, followed by
main events starting at
approximately 5 PM.

Huge Month Of
March For PASS
South
Racers Begins At Dillon |
CHARLOTTE, NC
(February 18) - After an
exciting start to the season
at Greenville-Pickens
Speedway a couple of weeks
ago, Pro All Stars Series
(PASS) South Super Late
Model racers from across the
Southeast are busy preparing
for the biggest month of
racing in the 2016 season.
The month of March will see
three huge events for the
South's top Super Late Model
racers, beginning with the
11th Annual South Carolina
Clash at Dillon Motor
Speedway on Saturday, March
5.
Ever since the
first South Carolina Clash
was held at nearby Florence
Motor Speedway in 2006, the
event has been one of the
featured races annually on
the PASS South schedule. In
that race 10 years ago, the
late Charlie Bradberry held
off short track legends Mike
Rowe and Freddie Query in a
frantic battle to the
checkered flag.
In
2008, the South Carolina
Clash moved the tough,
egg-shaped Dillon Motor
Speedway and has seen quite
the list of winners. Ryan
Blaney leads all drivers
with two victories, while
Justin Wakefield, Ben Rowe,
Preston Peltier, Austin
Theriault, Daniel Hemric,
and Tyler Church have all
visited victory lane there
in the past. Peltier looked
to join Blaney as a two-time
winner at Dillon, but was
edged out by Theriault in
2013 for the closest finish
in PASS South history.
This year's South
Carolina Clash will go green
on Saturday, March 5 as
Tyler Church looks to repeat
his emotional victory there
from a year ago. But,
following a 12-lead change
event at Greenville and with
another stacked field
expected at Dillon, that
will be no easy task for
Church. The weekend of
racing will be filled out by
a stout afternoon of action
that will include the DMS
Late Models racing for 60
laps with $1500 going to the
winner and the Pro
4-Cylinders competing in a
50 lapper paying $750 to
win.
From Dillon, the
series returns to Concord
Speedway on Saturday, March
19 and the beginning of a
new tradition with the birth
of the Southern Sizzler. The
PASS South Super Late Models
will compete for 125 laps
and will be joined for the
first time ever by the
NASCAR Whelen Southern
Modified Tour.
Just a
week later, one of the most
prestigious short track
events of the Spring will go
green on Saturday, March 26
as the 11th Annual Easter
Bunny 150 brings the PASS
racers back to Hickory Motor
Speedway. Racers from all
across the country are
expected for the Easter
Bunny 150, which also
doubles as the second race
of the PASS National
Championship Series. And if
the Easter Bunny weekend was
not already big enough, two
inaugural series events at
Hickory will make it that
much bigger. The Southern
Modified Racing Series
Presented By PASS is
expected to bring Tour-type
Modified racers from across
the East Coast together in
the first ever Easter Bunny
125. And, the new South East
Mini Stock tour will also be
in action following an
exciting introductory event
at Concord last Fall.
All the action gets
under way on Friday, March 4
at Dillon Motor Speedway
with open practice for all
competing divisions from 3 -
6:05 PM. On Saturday, March
5, practice will begin at 12
Noon with qualifying
starting at 3:30 PM for the
PASS South Super Late
Models, DMS Late Models, and
Pro 4-Cylinders, followed by
main events starting at
approximately 5 PM.
PASS South Super Late Model
entry forms for the events
at Dillon, Concord, and
Hickory can be found at
ProAllStarsSeries.com.
The Pro All Stars Series

America's premier
sanctioning body for asphalt
