Garrett Hall
Wins PASS Super Late
Model Race at Thompson
Speedway Motorsports Park
First-ever touring series
victory for young racer
from Scarborough, Maine |
Thompson,
Connecticut -- Garrett Hall
of Scarborough, Maine nailed
down his first-ever Pro All
Stars Series Super Late
Model victory in the 75-lap
season opener for the PASS
North Tour, also offering
National Championship
points, Sunday afternoon at
Connecticut's Thompson
Speedway Motorsports Park.
Hall, driving his
Quinn's Insulation car,
numbered 94, outgunned early
race leader Trevor Sanborn
of East Parsonsfield, Maine
midway through the race to
claim the top spot after an
extended, spirited battle.
He then held off a
determined challenge from
Hudson, New Hampshire's
Derek Griffith, aboard the
LCM Racing 12, to post the
win.
Hall, a
21-year-old competitor who
prior to this season spent
almost his entire racing
career on relatively-flat,
third-mile ovals in his home
state, credited a February
trip to Florida's New Smyrna
Speedway with helping
himself and the team to dial
the car in on New England's
biggest and fastest oval
short track.
"We
would have never been able
to do this without that trip
to New Smyrna, even though
we didn't run well there,"
Hall said in victory lane
after thanking his crew,
family and sponsors.
Griffith made things
interesting in the late
stages of the race for a
while, dueling with both the
eventual winner, as well as
third-place finisher Dave
Garbo, Jr. of Stonington,
Connecticut in the Garbo
Lobster-sponsored 8.
Early race leader Sanborn
dominated the first half of
the event aboard the Cushman
Competition Ford, crossing
the finish line in fourth
position. Multi-time PASS
North Super Late Model
champion Ben Rowe of Turner,
Maine rounded out the top
five. Rowe unofficially took
over the PASS Super Late
Model National Championship
points lead on the strength
of that finish.
Mike
Hopkins of Hermon, Maine
kept things tight at the top
of the rankings, finishing
sixth at Thompson after
entering the race tied for
second spot with Rowe in the
National rankings. Larry
Gelinas of Buxton, Maine
battled for the early race
lead, and ended up in
seventh position under the
checkered flag.
Berwick, Maine's Joey Doiron
battled to an eighth-place
finish in a car borrowed
from Dale Shaw Race cars,
with 2015 Oxford 250 winner
Glen Luce of Turner, Maine
and Derek Ramstrom of West
Boylston, Massachusetts
rounding out the top ten.
Ramstrom had entered the
race as the PASS National
Championship Series points
leader.
Saturday
afternoon heat race
victories were posted by
Sanborn, Gelinas and Hall.
The Pro All Stars Series
North Super Late Models are
in action this Sunday, April
17, in the Speedway
Homes,150 at Oxford Plains
Speedway in Oxford, Maine in
a doubleheader racing
program also featuring the
ACT Late Model Tour
Husqvarna 100 presented by
Dave's Small Engines. Post
time is 2:00 PM.

PELLTIER #74 |
PASS National
Championship Heads North
To Thompson Speedway |
NAPLES, ME (April 7) - After
an extremely successful
start to the southern
season, the Pro All Stars
Series (PASS) Super Late
Model North season will
kickoff this weekend with
"The Icebreaker" at Thompson
Speedway in Connecticut.
"The Icebreaker" is doubly
important as it will mark
the halfway point of the
PASS National Championship
Series, which will once
again crown Super Late Model
racing's only true national
champion.
Massachusetts' driver Derek
Ramstrom has a steely-eyed
focus on winning the 2016
PASS National championship.
Ramstrom and Maine's Jeremy
Davis are the only drivers
to finish in the top five in
both of the PASS National
races so far this season at
Greenville-Pickens Speedway
and Hickory Motor Speedway.
This weekend Ramstrom comes
to Thompson Speedway with
the PASS National points
lead and with momentum on
his side.
"It feels
great to be leading the PASS
National Championship
standings heading to
Thompson," says Ramstrom,
driver of the Ramstrom's
Service Center/Matthews
Truck Service #35. "Our team
hasn't contended for a
championship in a while and
it's a great morale booster
to have two top five runs to
start the season."
Although not in his native
state, Thompson Speedway is
a "home" track of sorts for
Ramstrom. He won the Pro
Stock championship at
Thompson in 2010 and went to
victory lane with PASS North
there two years later. For
many, Ramstrom comes into
this weekend's "Icebreaker"
as a favorite to take the
checkered flag and extend
his PASS National
Championship points lead
heading into the 43rd Annual
HP Hood Oxford 250 in
August.
"Thompson is
a high-banked, fast track
and by far one of the best
speedways I have ever raced
at," says Ramstrom. "We
should have a great car this
weekend and be able to
contend for the win."
Ramstrom will be faced
with a tough field for
Sunday's 75 lapper,
including former PASS
National Champions, Ben Rowe
and Joey Doiron, as well as
former PASS North Super Late
Model champions, Travis
Benjamin, Johnny Clark, Mike
Rowe, and DJ Shaw. Defending
PASS South champion Tate
Fogleman is entered, along
with defending Oxford 250
winner, Glen Luce, and last
year's North-South Shootout
winner, David Garbo, Jr.
PASS National championship
contenders, Jeremy Davis,
Matt Matheson and
John-Michael Shenette are
entered as well, along with
PASS North championship
contenders Bryan Kruczek,
Reid Lanpher, and Trevor
Sanborn. Additional entries
include George Bessette,
Corey Casagrande, Larry
Gelinas, Derek Griffith,
Garrett Hall, Donald
Theetge, and Jake Vanada.
The PASS Super Late
Models and NASCAR Whelen
Modified Tour get on track
for the first time on
Saturday, April 9, with
practice beginning at 11:20
AM followed by
qualifying/heat races, and
main events for the support
divisions. On Sunday, April
10, grandstand gates will
open at 10 AM, followed by
an autograph session, and
main events starting at
12:35 PM.

Super Late Model entry forms
for the events at Thompson
Speedway, Oxford Plains
Speedway, Beech Ridge Motor
Speedway, and the 43rd
Annual HP Hood Oxford 250

America's premier

Big Month Of
April On Tap
For PASS Super
Late Model Stars |
NAPLES, ME (March
30) - Following a successful
start to the season, which
has seen the Pro All Stars
Series (PASS) average over
30 Super Late Models through
the first three events of
the year, the best short
trackers in America are now
preparing for a big month of
April.
With three
southern races under their
belts, PASS is set to embark
on the start of the north
season, kicking off on April
9-10 with the Icebreaker at
Thompson Speedway in
Connecticut. In addition to
being the first race of 2016
for the PASS North Super
Late Models, the Icebreaker
will serve as race three of
the PASS National
Championship Series.
Following last weekend's
Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory
Motor Speedway, former
Thompson Speedway track
champion Derek Ramstrom
leads the national standings
by two points over Ben Rowe
and Mike Hopkins and just
six points over Jeremy
Davis. In total, 10 drivers
are within 100 points of one
another as the PASS National
Championship Series reaches
its halfway mark at
Thompson.
From
Thompson, the PASS North
Super Late Model season will
crank up with the Speedway
Homes 150 at Oxford Plains
Speedway on Sunday, April
17. It will be the first of
four starts for the stars of
PASS leading up to the 43rd
Annual HP Hood Oxford 250 on
August 26-28. Several new
driver/team combinations
will be coming together for
the first time this season
in PASS North's home base of
Maine. Defending HP Hood
Oxford 250 winner, Glen
Luce, will be looking to
continue his magic at Oxford
Plains, while Mike and Ben
Rowe, DJ Shaw, Travis
Benjamin, Johnny Clark, Joey
Doiron and others look to
establish themselves as the
one to beat heading towards
the 250. Plus, the ACT Late
Models will compete in the
Husqvarna 100 Presented By
Dave's Small Engines and the
PASS Modifieds will be in
action to complete this big
weekend of racing.
On
that same weekend, back down
south, the PASS South Super
Late Models will be back in
action on Saturday, April 16
with a big 150 lapper at
Caraway Speedway near
Asheboro, NC. PASS South is
in the midst of another
great points battle among
three young stars. Rookie
Kodie Conner continues to
lead the standings, now by
six points over Matt Craig
and just 10 points over
defending PASS South Super
Late Model champion, Tate
Fogleman. In addition to the
PASS South action at Caraway
Speedway, the NASCAR Whelen
Southern Modified Tour will
compete for 150 laps, along
with the Limited Late
Models, Chargers, Mini
Stocks, and Hornets.
Entry forms for the upcoming
action at Thompson Speedway,
Oxford Plains Speedway, and
Caraway Speedway can be
