Epping, NH (May 21)
- On a night that fulfilled
the full moon superstition,
Hermon, Maine driver Mike
Hopkins dominated the 22 car
field at Star Speedway to
pick up his first career Pro
All Stars Series super late
model win in the Support 50
Legs PASS 150. By virtue of
his win in heat race #1,
Hopkins would start on the
pole for the feature event
and would lead all 150 laps.
In a race that saw the
caution fly seven times
(Laps 5, 60, 64, 82, 96,
142, and 148), Hopkins was
able to take the lead on
each and every re-start.
Hopkins would be challenged
on the green/white/checker
finish by Jay, Maine driver
Dave Farrington, Jr. The two
drivers traded paint when
the field went green, but
Hopkins was able to hold off
Farrington for the win.
At the finish, Hopkins
and Farrington were followed
across the stripe by Richie
Dearborn, Derek Ramstrom and
Derek Griffith to round out
the top five. Mike Rowe,
Tracy Gordon, Johnny Clark,
DJ Shaw, and Joe Squeglia
were the sixth through
tenth-place finishers.
Unofficially, Hopkins
now leads the PASS North SLM
points by two over Conway,
NH's DJ Shaw. Heat wins went
to Hopkins, Griffith, and
Luce.
The next Pro
All Stars Series North Super
Late Model race is the
Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day
Classic, scheduled for
Sunday, May 29 at Thunder
Road Speedbowl in Barre,
Vermont. Post time is 1:30
