DOIRON - SHAW - HALL
DJ Shaw bests Joey Doiron on restart to score Southern Maine Chrysler Jeep Dodge PASS North Super Late Model 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway
Scarborough, Maine -- DJ Shaw of Center Conway, New Hampshire drove from third position to first on a restart with four laps remaining in Saturday's Southern Maine Chrysler Jeep Dodge 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway to nail down his first Pro All Stars Series Super Late Model win of the season.

Shaw, the 2014 PASS North Super Late Model champion, watched Doiron blast on by earlier in the race after the Berwick, Maine driver, and eventual runner-up, charged from his 14th starting position into a lead threatened only by hometown racer Garrett Hall - the opening day PASS Super Late Model winner at Connecticut's Thompson Speedway - until the final pair of restarts took place, with six and four laps remaining, respectively.

Shaw had been a healthy distance behind Doiron aboard his Dale Shaw Race Cars / HK Powersports 60, but the once-dominant JBJ Machine 73 didn't have the handles on cold tires. That opened the door for Shaw, who stepped through and into victory lane.

Doiron had mixed emotions, claiming runner-up honors after dominating the second half of the race. Hall's third-place finish was his second PASS podium appearance in three races contested thus far in the 2016 campaign.

Former Beech Ridge Motor Speedway NASCAR track champion Dave Farrington., Jr., of Jay, led several laps and battled among the contenders all day, finishing fourth. Reigning PASS North Super Late Model champion Mike Rowe of Turner earned another improbable top-five finish after starting the race 23rd position.

Trevor Sanborn of East Parsonsfield, six-time series champion Johnny Clark of Farmingdale; Bobby Timmons of Windham; four-time champ Ben Rowe of Turner and Windham's Brandon Barker rounded out the top ten.

Mike Hopkins of Hermon, Sanborn and Farrington won heat races. Ben Rowe aced the last-chance qualifier. Hopkins tuned in the quickest lap of the race, leading the early circuits in the main event before spinning in fluids dropped by a rival's racecar.

Ben Tinker of New Gloucester nailed down his first victory in the 40-lap feature race for PASS Mods. Tinker, who was championship runner-up at the second-tier Sport Series level at Beech Ridge last season, decided to go touring this year, and was the class of the field on the Southern Maine Chrysler Jeep Dodge undercard.

Tinker started seventh in the main event and maintained a comfortable advantage once in front of the field, outrunning 11th-place starter Ryan Robbins of Dixfield, the 2015 champion of the class at Oxford Plains Speedway.

Multi-time PASS Mod champ Andy Shaw wheeled the Sumner Sessions 0 to a third-place finish, with early race leader Mike Carignan of Lebanon and Shapleigh's Dana Reed rounding out the top five. Ricci and Tinker won the 10-lap heat races for PASS Mods.

The Pro All Stars Series North Super Late Models race next at Star Speedway in Epping, New Hampshire on Saturday, May 7, followed by a Sunday, May 15 150-lapper at Speedway 95 in Hermon, Maine.

BRYAN KRUCZEK
Beech Ridge Opener On Deck For
PASS North Stars This Weekend
NAPLES, ME (April 27) - After a long, cold winter of waiting, racing season is back in full swing for New England race fans as the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super Late Models and PASS Modifieds prepare for their first trip of 2016 to Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, ME. The best short trackers in North America will tackle the tough 1/3 mile, semi-banked oval on Saturday afternoon to compete in the Southern Maine Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep 150.

In last year's event, Bryan Kruczek stormed to the front of the field to claim his first ever PASS North Super Late Model checkered flag. It was an emotional win which was a long time in coming that the veteran from Newmarket, NH hopes he can repeat on Saturday afternoon.

"Winning at Beech Ridge last year really gave me and my crew a great amount of confidence, especially when we head to the flat tracks," says Kruczek, driver of the Kruczek's Garage #00. "Beech Ridge is a tough place to be consistent at and seems to me to change a lot with the weather and you need to stay ahead of its moody changes. I thank my crew and Dale Shaw Race Cars for giving me a setup that stays neutral throughout the race."

While Beech Ridge gives Kruczek and his team a lot of happy memories, so far the start to the 2016 PASS North season has been one they would like to forget. Mechanical problems took Kruczek out early at Thompson Speedway and a chance for the win at Oxford Plains Speedway last time out was thwarted after contact with another competitor. Despite all that, Kruczek remains optimistic about his chances to repeat this weekend at Beech Ridge.

"We are definitely not off to a great start this season after having a parts failure at Thompson and the late race deal at Oxford," said Kruczek. "I can't thank my guys enough, though, because I've been given really good cars both races. If not for the misfortune, I think we could have been doing well in points to this point, but my team is ready to rally back and I plan to be standing in victory lane come Saturday with them."

As is becoming usual for PASS North Super Late Model events, the field will again be stacked for Saturday afternoon's Southern Maine Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep 150, including former HP Hood Oxford 250 winners, Glen Luce and Ben and Mike Rowe, along with former PASS champions, Johnny Clark, Joey Doiron, and DJ Shaw. Fellow Maine drivers Jacob Dore, Dave Farrington, Jr., Larry Gelinas, Mike Hopkins, Reid Lanpher, Kelly Moore, David Oliver, Rusty Poland, Adam Polvinen, JT Thurlow, and Bobby Timmons have sent in pre-entries. New Brunswick's Matt Matheson is entered along with New Hampshire standouts Derek Griffith and Dan Winter.

All the action gets under way on Friday at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway with rotating practice for all competing divisions from 2 - 6 PM. On Saturday, practice will begin at 11:30 AM with racing slated to begin at 3 PM for the PASS North Super Late Models, PASS Modifieds, and Legends.

The Pro All Stars Series is recognized as North America's premier sanctioning body for asphalt Super Late Models and boasts such marquee events as the legendary HP Hood Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway and PASS South's Easter Bunny 150 at the historic Hickory Motor Speedway.
